To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? In present society, advertisements are increasingly rampant in our life. It is everywhere, even at the back of toilet doors. When it comes to advertisements purpose, people s opinions diverge. I firmly take the opinion that commercial advertisements serve more demerits than merits.Advertising might be like medicine; not nice but necessary from time to time. When we want to buy a new computer or go on a holiday some of us will do two things; do some online research and then check out the best deals online or in the papers. This works for us; we get the right information at the right time. And we are grateful. Also advertising pays for things that I enjoy; it pays for the TV programs I watch, the TV screens that help me pass the time on the public transport system, and subsidizes the newspapers I read online. On another day we may be strolling in the street with our friends enjoying the sunshine, but then a large TV screen jumps into life telling us the merits of a certain shampoo, or a certain model. This is intrusive, districting and perhaps even dangerous as it makes vision in the streets more difficult 。What s more, advertisements are more often than not misleading. Especially chinos markets, advertisement always exaggerate the function of a certain product. However, after people have paid for it, they can find that they didn tpay for the product totally, instead, they invested in the advertisement of the product to some extend. To sum up, commercial advertisements do both good and harm to our life. Although, the advantages can overwhelm the disadvantages, still, to completely eliminate them from our daily life would be unwise. It is said that the amount of violence on the TV programs has negative effect on our social development and therefore should be reduced. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? With the advent of televisions, the modem society has been being increasingly colourful. They benefit peoples life in many areas, such as communicating. However, a large number of people show great concern about the violence the TV programs.I think the concern does makesense.Over recent years, there has been an increasing amount of media violence. TV series portray serial kills, gun battles and brutal fighting. News and documentaries illustrate every detail of a starling crime in the name of crime investigation. TV viewers today are so used to violence that they never think it disturbing but find it fun to watch.Young people and children are the greatest victims of this surge in media violence. Not yet able to distinguish between right and wrong, they often imitate the violence they observe on TV and accept it as the normal way to behave towards others. It is reported that many juvenile crimes are the direct result of viewing aggressive behaviors on TV .Opponents of strict media control often point out that some of the violence shown on TV is the true portrayal of what is happening around us and people have the rights to know it. Although this is undoubtedly true, it also means that people who see them a lot may gradually develop a sense of insecurity and mistrust as they are forced to believe they are living in a dangerous world. The violence on screen is contributing to increasing crime rate. As a result, it is high time the governments should combat the threat of media violence to the general public. In present age society, advertisements have been being increasingly rampant in our life. Consequently, some people doubt that it is advertisements that lead to the high sake of products rather than the real needs of consumers. To distinguish which factor can outweigh the other, the only problem is, I think, to define, the necessary and the decorative. One the one hand, with the fast pace of modernization, people s physical and spiritual needs are greatly diversified and carefully categorized, which witnessed by mushrooming supermarkets, department stores and shopping malls. From kitchenware to gardening implements, from office consumables to household confections, those places exist to provide a splendid array of modem commodities, catering to every particular taste to humans. No wonder that many housewives are so thrilled at the thought of another shopping spree! Moreover, many new businesses have sprouted up in recent decades. For examples, the pedicure industry is thriving in Southeast Asia as an effective channel to relieve the stresses and strains of modem life.On the other hand, the mighty power of advertising is also a contributing factor. Inundated by a succession of seductive images and attractive prices, most consumers find it hard to resist the allure of possessing the advertised products. Following the principle of “3B ”(baby, beauty and beast), many advertisers use newborn infants, gorgeous females and domestic animals to stimulate purchasing impulses in the audience their potential customers though those icons are irrelevant to their products. For instance, although car manufacturers and real estate develops have been criticized for using shapely models in their advertisements, the climbing sales of cars and properties give evidence of their great success, at least in commercial terms. To sum up, it is obvious that people s real needs and their magnetism of advertising are the two most powerful forces at work. Since the individuals can not tell the reason they buy a certain product. We cant decide which factor is more important without scientific research.Nowadays, a lot of media, including newspapers, magazine, television, radio, and even the internet, are publishing stores of people s private lives. Should this practice be banned? In present age society, media has been becoming an indispensible part of our life. As it brings us tremendous convenience on communication and entertainment, it also exerts negative impact on individuals and society. I think the government should ban such practice which is against moral principles. It is true that man is born to be on tiptoe for privacy with curiosity. Nevertheless, it is by no means a sufficient reason to allow the practice of making public peoples privacy. As a consequence, it would encourage an immoral conduct of nosing into other s privacy. Indeed, some teenagers who have read the information describing the affairs of a movie star could be under the wrong impression about love.As far as the public is concerned, some private stories give a misleading example of love and marriage. In fact, some newspapers and magazines are teeming with the photos and articles detailing their new girlfriends or boyfriends of celebrities, which contributes to the disturbing mindset that marriage is no longer as important and scared as before. To conclude, it is reasonable to assume that the practice of printing privacy is detrimental to us. It is my strong recommendation for our government to forbid these.Advertisements play a major role on TV in market economies. Despite the benefits of such information, many people criticize the role of TV advertising. To what extent do you agree or disagree with their view? With the development of TV programs, advertisements are becoming increasingly rampant. People hold different opinions about TV advertisements. As far as I concerned, they do influence our life negatively to some extent.Firstly, advertisements provide information, and information is essential to a modern economy because it brings those who have products and services into contact with those who want to buy. Indeed, advertisements are the most efficient means of such communication and help to keep the price of consumer goods down. Secondly, the advertising industry is a significant source of employment. Thirdly, advertisements are often charming and well-filmed, a source of entertainment in themselves.Clearly, however, TV advertisements present a number of objectionable features. Most obviously they interrupt the programs, distract our attention and may spoil our enjoyment or learning. Then there is the question of the messages that the advertisements convey. They do not simply give us information about products that we may want to buy, they also arouse the desires to buy new products and leave us dissatisfied until we buy them. At a deeper level, advertisements often present us with a fantasy world that makes us false promises of happiness, popularity and so on. Thus they may create wasteful consumption. To conclude, despite all the advantages advertisements bring, they also have disadvantages. We should develop our own value system to evaluate their messages and their effects. Only in this way will not we be swayed by them. Some people think the media should stop reporting details of crimes to the public. What is in your opinion?Today, the print as well as electronic media tend to dedicate large amounts of space or airtime t gruesomely detailed reports about crimes. Personally, I believe such details are supposed to be strictly censored, if not banned altogether,First of all, detailed coverage of heinous crimes may further traumatise the victims of crimes reported by the media. These victims have already suffered greatly for what they have experienced. Without their consent, detailed accounts of felonies would only add to these innocent people s suffering. An even more disturbing fact is that detailed reports of crimes by the press may provide the potential criminals with instructive learning materials, which would be hard to obtain otherwise. They may help those who are in the process of planning criminal acts perfect their plans that is, avoid the pitfalls and make themselves harder to tracked down by police.Besides, these days the primary of journalists covering the details of criminal acts is, more often than not, to boost newspaper circulations on TV ratings. Consequently, a great deal of crime coverage is rather biased, exaggerated or fraudulent, which only serve to terrorise communities and leave law-abiding citizens increasingly apprehensive about crimes. Therefore, I would argue that the detailed coverage of crimes should not go unchecked any longer as they may be false, may further drive up the already-high crime rate and many bring even more suffering to the victims of crimes.Somemovies increase the amount of bad driving. What can be done to encourage young people to drive more safely?Movies tend to have very large influence on young people who are influenced both by what they see and hear. Because this is the case, It is true that car chases in action movies tend to lead to an increase in the number of car accidents amongyoung drivers because the try to copy what they have seen in the films. They drive too fast and take unnecessary risks and the difficulty is that most young people lack the skills and experience to do this. There are a variety of ways in which young people can be encouraged to practise safer driving habits. Firstly, The government should launch a safe driving campaign to convey the fact that driving safely is not uncool. In effect, it should be cool to stay alive and healthy. Secondly, every movie should make it clear that dangerous car chases are undertaken only in strict safety conditions with experienced drivers, and often special movie-making tricks are used to enhance the action. Thirdly, young people should be forced to take safe driving courses every year for the first five years that they have their driver 抯 licence. In this way, they are forced to perfect their driving skills or their licence will be taken away. Finally, as part of this course, young drivers should go to hospitals and witness the effects of poor or dangerous driving on other people. Whenthey see hospitalised people whose lives have been destroyed due to stupid risk-taking, they will surely change their minds about whether it is cool to copy action heroes and drive fast.
