M1 U3 Welcome to the Unit Teaching aims:1. To train the students speaking ability through talking about four pictures2. To get the students to know what can be done to look good and feel good through discussion Teaching procedure:Step1 Lead-in (ppt1-5) Show a video and let the students think about a question: What do you think of the girls in the video?After watching the video, the students may have a visual impression about looking good.T: All the girls look good and feel good. Everyone wants to look good and feel good. They may have different ways to achieve it. Now, here are four pictures for you. Open your books , turn to page41. Can you imagine a situation to fit each picture? You may make up a story or a dialogue .Step 2 Picture-talking (ppt6- 9) Give the students 10 minutes to discuss about the pictures in groups , then ask them to present their stories or dialogues. Before that , give them some hints: Who are in the pictures? What is the boy / girl doing? Why does he / she do so?Step 3 Brainstorming (ppt10-14) T: Whats good looking in your eyes? (Let the students speak freely) T: Different people have different opinions about good looking. Now, look at the pictures and tell why they look good. You may use some words to describe them. (being handsome / lovely / attractive / charming / slim / strong / powerful / elegant / graceful) Step 4 Discussion (ppt 15-22) Encourage students to express themselves freely and correctly. T: What can we do to look good and feel good? S: Eating well / sleeping well / exercising regularly/ wearing beautiful clothes. T：What others can we do in our daily life or in our study? S: waiting in line / being helpful / being hard-working / behaving well / being confident / being active in class / being positiveStep5 Conclusion Appreciate some sentences connected with beauty. A good fame is better than a good face. Handsome is he who does handsomely. The one who is dressed beautifully may not have a beautiful soul.Only the one who has a beautiful soul is really beautiful ! Step6 Assignment Preview the reading text.
