2012.6 The Impact of the Internet on Interpersonal Communication In the picture, the man asks his daughter about her school day, with the intention of chatting with her. However, his daughter brings the conversation to a halt by simply asking her dad to read her blog. This is a vivid example of the impact of the internet on interpersonal communication. This impact is so serious that it is high time we paid attention to it.Firstly, due to the wide use of the internet, our e-pals always take priority over our family and friends in real life.Much of our time and energy is spent online.Secondly, the internet deprives us the delight of communicating in person. When talking to someone beside us,we can hear their voices, see their expressions, and even hold their hands if we would like to.This is much more enjoyable.Last but not least, the internet will cause a degradation of our skills of face-to-face communication. We may feel embarrassed and find it harder to talk with people around us.In a word,we shouldnt be enslaved by the internet. No matter how convenient it is to chat online,we should remember the benefits of face-to-face communication.2012.12 For this part, you are allowed 30 mins to write an essay entitled Man and Computer by commenting on the saying,“The real danger is not that the computer will begin to think like man,but that man will begin to think like the computer.”You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words. With the rapid development of modern technology, there are more and more smart computers that can think like man. This has roused much concern about the possible threat they may pose on human beings. However, what deserves more attention is the phenomenon that man is starting to think like computers. To begin with, were over-emphasizing the importance of thinking accurately and logically so that were losing creativity.Without creativity, the world would gradually stop evolving and come to an end.Besides, thinking like the computer means producing results in standard methods. To solve different problems,we need flexible approaches, while previous input can only be applied to a limited number of cases. Moreover, computers lack emotion. If all human minds think in the same way like those cold machines, the emotional bonds between one and another will break up and this will lead to the breakdown of human society. In conclusion, man thinking like the computer is very dangerous. We should give more emphasis to creativity, flexibility and human emotion,so that the human race can have a more beautiful prospect.2011.12 Write an essay entitled The way to success by commenting on Abram Lincolns famous remark,“Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”Abraham Lincoln once said,“Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”in my opinion, this remark can be interpreted in this way:If you want to successfully achieve a certain goal, you must be well prepared for it at first.A good preparation involves sufficient learning, good strategies, and a healthy mentality. To be well prepared, you must first equip yourself with the required knowledge and skills.Only in this way can you move smoothly in all kinds of tough and complex situations. In the process of preparation, you will formulate good strategies which can contribute to reducing the potential mistakes, thus leading to higher efficiency. Finally, you must learn to cultivate a healthy mentality. You must be fully prepared for the possible setbacks you may encounter and devote yourself wholeheartedly to whatever goal you pursue. In a word, success comes to those who are well prepared for it.The way to get prepared is also a way to improve yourself.By sparing no effort to“sharpen your axe”,you will successfully arrive at your destination.
