Mother: How much money has he, Sue? Sue: He hasnt much, mum. His money-box is full of buttons. There were some cakes in this tin a minute ago, but there arent any now! Mother: Sandy! Put those cakes back in the tin please!Lesson 55:Professor BoffinMrs Boffin: Go to the grocers and get some eggs and some matches please, dear. Professor: Good morning. May I have some eggs and some matches please? Grocer: Eggs and matches. Im afraid that I havent any matches. Mrs Boffin: Well, dear? Professor: He had some eggs, but he hadnt any matches. Mrs Boffin: Where are the eggs, dear? Professor: Here, in my pocket. Mrs Boffin: Dont hit your pocket like that! Oh! Look at those eggs!Lesson 57:A lovely treatLast week mother, father and the children had lunch at a restaurant. Mother, father and Sue had some soup. Sandy didnt want any. Then father and Sandy had some steak. Mother and Sue had chicken. But the last course was the best. They all had strawberries, sugar, and cream. “Yum! Yum!” Sandy said. “Did you all have a nice meal?”father asked. “Yes, thank you, dad,”Sue answered. “It was a lovely treat,” Sandy said.Lesson 59:Grandma and GrandpaGrandmother and grandfather arrived this morning. They are going to stay with us for six days. We waited for them at the station. They travelled by tain. The train arrived at five oclock. Grandma and grandpa had some lovely presents for us. A flute for me, and a water-pistol for Sandy. We liked our presents very much, but mother didnt like them at all!Lesson 61:Mrs Boffins birthday“ I want a big bunch of flowers please,” Professor Boffin said. Professor Boffin carried the bunch of flowers home. “What lovely flowers!”Mrs Boffin said. “Many happy returns, dear,” Professor Boffin said. “Its the 27th of February today. I remembered your birthday this year.” Mrs Boffin smiled. “My birthday was the day before yesterday,” she answered. “But thank you all the same. Better late than never!”Lesson 63:The donkeyGrandfather and I walked into town a few days ago. On the way we noticed a lot of people. “Whats going on?”grandpa asked. “Lets have a look,”I said. “Look!” I cried. “Theres a donkey walking across the road!” We both watched the donkey. It was very funny. It stopped in the middle of the road and it stopped all the traffic, too!Lesson 65:Farmer Gimbel arrivesGrandfather and I watched the donkey. It was still in the middle of the road. Then a policeman arrived. “Whose donkey is it?” he asked. “Its farmer Gimbles,” I said. “Look, hes coming.” Then farmer Gimble arrived. “You must move your donkey,” the policeman said. Farmer Gimble pulled and the policeman pushed, but the donkey didnt move. We laughed but the car drivers were very cross!Lesson 67:Give him a carrotGrandfather and I watched farmer Gimble and the policeman. “We cant move this donkey!” the policeman shouted. “What can we do?” farmer Gimble asked. “Give him a carrot!” granfather cried. “Thats a good idea,” farmer Gimble said. “Here!” farmer Gimble called. The donkey noticed the carrot and jumped up. He followed farmer Gimble across the road and that was the end of the traffic-jam!Lesson 69:We said goodbyeGrandma and grandpa stayed with us for six days. They went home today and we went to the station with them. On the way we noticed farmer Gimbles donkey in a field. “Hes very quiet today,” grandpa said. We arrived at the station at half past eleven and said goodbye. “We had a lot of good fun,” I said. “Come again soon!” Sandy said.Lesson 71:Lucky or unluckyYesterday it was Friday, 13th March. It was Sandys unlucky day. In the morning he cut his finger with the bread-knife. Mother put some iodine on Sandys finger and it hurt a lot! Then she put some sticking-plaster round Sandys finger. In the evening we both had lots of homework, but Sandy didnt mind at all. “I cant do my homework,” he said, and he didnt write a word!看听学英语第二册 Lesson 73:Who is itDuring the night Sandy heard a strange noise and woke up. He sat up in bed and listened. Then he came into my room and told me about it. We both went downstairs. The light was on in the kitchen. Lillie read it and passed it to me. I didnt read it because Mr May saw me and took the piece of paper. He threw it into the wastepaper-basket. During play time Liz took the message out of the basket and showed it to me. It said: Pass it along! “Thats a silly message!” I said.Lesson 81:A day indoorsThe other day it rained heavily, so we stayed indoors. We made a puppet. We used a sheet of paper, some large corks and some strings. We worked busily for two hours. At last the puppet was ready,. We painted his face carefully. Then Sandy pulled the strings and our puppet danced. He danced very well.Lesson 83:Billys lucky numberNarrator: At a school party all the children bought raffle tickets. The first prize was a bicycle. Miss Grant: I want a boy to draw a number. Childrens voices: Go on Billy! Miss Grant: Shut your eyes and draw a piece of paper out of this hat. Miss Grant: What number is it? Billy: Its number thirteen. Miss Grant: Whos got number thirteen? Childrens voices: I havent got it! I havent got it! Miss Grant: Thats funny! You must draw another one. Billy: Just a minute! Ive got number thirteen. Thirteens my lucky number.Lesson 85:A very short visitSandy: Tom didnt come to school today. Hes ill. Sue: Lets visit him.
