2022年高中英语(人教大纲)第三册:Unit3 The land down under(第一课时).Brief Statements Based on the UnitThe title of this unit,is “The land down under”.When you see it at the first sight,perhaps youll wonder what it is about.However,after you read the whole text,you will know that it is about Australia.The whole unit gives us detailed information about Australia.Warming up begins with a few interesting topics to attract the students to go in for the discussion.Some pictures are given to let the students list things that interest them,then they will talk about the travel places and the important cities.In speaking part,students are asked to talk about a trip to Australia,using the information from the listening.What the students talk about is all that the students are familiar with.They will surely improve their speaking ability in the warm discussion.The topic of the listening is what the students are most interested in,especially the advice about safety and equipment.The students can learn about trips to Australia.At the same time,their listening ability to listen to English will be improved gradually.In Reading part,the text is a good material for us to know Australia.It starts with some interesting questions,which are meant to raise the students interests to the country,then the text tells us about its regions,famous cities,such as Sydney,Canberra,Melboune etc,as well as an explanation to its national flag.Then the text gives us information about the first Australians,its history and its culture.At the end of the text,the author speaks of Australia English,which differs in pronunciation from British English and American English.And thats what the students who are learning English most need.In the last of the unit,Integrating skills,more information about Australia is offered in the text,including a variety of animals and plants,which can not be found anywhere else in the world,and its area.The information from its metals,diamonds,coal,grain to its sheep and cool is perhaps not what every student knows about.At last,it gives us the best time to visit Australia.In the course of reading,the students will acquire the information above and a lot of useful words and expressions.Language study consists of two parts.One part is exercises of useful words and expressions;the other is to review the Predicative.Plenty of exercises are given to the students to master them.In writing,the students are asked to write an article,describing an unusual animal in Australia.Since some information about it is given in the instruction part,the students can write live in public living houses.Australians are the cities for many miles,and so efficient transport is of great importance.As the economy grows,so do its industriesa longer level of production,a wider range of products.The Australian work hard,but they like relaxing themselves.The climate there makes outdoor activities the most popular.Canberra,the capital of Australia,is a planned modern city lying inland.Australia is ruled by a parliamentary democracy the representatives of other countries have their embassies here.Australia wants to strengthen relations with her neighbours.Australia is a strange land,a land of large wild spacerich valleys,snow fields and desertsalso a land with special animals,many of which can not be found on any other continent today.Much of the continent is dry,but man has made use of the land,made it productive,with its tools,with its technology.This is the driest continent of all,and water is a precious possession,more precious than all other natural resources.Large dams are built to collect water,which is then carried down to the plains belowthere to irrigate the fields of grassland and crops.But Australia is changing.The land of wool and wheat is now a land of large scale industry and mining.The costs of developing the new mineral discoveries are very large,but the rewards are great,too.Australia is a young nation.Australia is a nation that
