The parents reaction is then negative because they are now hated instead of being admired. Most parents cant deal with this situation and it drives them crazy. Half of parents get tired and give up all the rules, while the other half bee so strict that the kids begin to hate them.If parents want to help their teenager get through it they need to understand what is going on which nearly all parents DONT . This ensures that both parties will fail each other and generally cause annoyance, stress and ill will!On the other hand, the teenager needs to understand the insecurity(不安) the parent feels as the teenager increasingly has a mind of his or her own. Sure, the kid has never done anything wrong and when the parents make improper rules or start calling that teenager certain qualities that he or she has never had, the teenagers natural reaction is to fight back. Luckily for parents, teenagers first reaction is rarely to hurt their parents deeply. However, they will do other things, such as drinking, taking drugs, and having poor performance in school as revenge (报复) for the words and actions of their parents. What neither side understands is that they are hurting themselves and each other and the only cause is lacking the ability to consider things calmly for both sides. Therefore, keeping calm is the first step.5. What is the text mainly about?A. Why parents and teenagers fight.B. Why some kids behave badly in school.B. What makes teenagers think negatively?D. How parents should make rules on teenagers.6. The underlined word “it in Paragraph 1 refers to _.A. parents failure to rule teenagersB. teenagers revengeC. teenagers disrespect to parentsD. parents insecurity7. Some teenagers hate their parents because _.A. they want to bee coolB. their material needs arent satisfiedC. they want to challenge their parentsD. they get too many rules from their parents8. About the relationship between parents and teenagers, what can we learn?A. Theres no good way to deal with their fighting.B. They should think more for both sides calmly.C. Teenagers should take more responsibility than parents.D. Teenagers are likely to admire their parents after 12 years old.CAs a kid,I felt my happiness would be based on whether I could fulfill all my needs and wants. If I was rich,I would definitely be content with my life.My father always stressed his belief in happiness. I can remember him lecturing me about how money does not make one happy and how other things in life such as health, family, friends, and memorable experiences make a person genuinely happy. At that time in my life,I did not put any thought into his words as usual. At a young age,I noticed the media seemed to portray(描绘) the wealthy as happy people that add value to our society. At high school I still sought a career that would produce a high salary. After my second year of college,I started my first job in an accounting department, where I found myself extremely bored. Every day I had to do boring work. In addition,I had to live away from friends and family. I noticed having money to spend when you are by yourself was not satisfying.I began to think back to what my dad always said. After two months on the job,I truly realized that a more satisfying experience for me would have been doing an ordinary parttime job for far less money. No matter how high the salary of this position was,I would never be capable of fulfilling a happy life and making a career out of this job.As the summer drew to a close,I truly understood the meaning of my dads words. The term “wealth” is a broad term, and I believe the key to happiness is to bee wealthy in great memories, friends, family, and health.9When the author was a kid,_.Ahe suffered a lot from being poorBit worried him whether he could live happilyChe didnt treat his fathers advice seriouslyDhis attitude to life was greatly influenced by his father10What do we know about the author and his first job?A He decided to make it his lifelong career.BHe got the job with the help of his friends.CHe didnt earn enough money to support himself.DHe got no happiness although it was well-paid. 11Through his experience, the author wanted to tell us that_.Ayoung people should listen to their parentsBmoney cannot always bring you real happinessCone should be careful in choosing his first jobDone can learn much by doing a parttime jobDA new study links heavy air pollution from coal burning to shorter lives in northern China. Researchers estimate that the half-billion people alive there in the 1990s will live an average of 5 years less than their southern counterparts (两方面地位职务相当的人) because they breathed dirtier air. China itself made the parison possible: for decades, a now-discontinued government policy provided free coal for heating, but only in the colder north. Researchers found significant differences in both particulate pollution of the air and life expectancy in the two regions. While previous studies have found that pollution affects human health, the deeper and ultimately more important question is the effect on life expectancy, said one of the researchers, Michael Greenstone, a professor of environmental economics at Massachusetts Institute of 一Technology. This study provides a unique setting to answer the life expectancy question because the heating policy dramatically(极大地) changes pollution concentrations(含量),Greenstone said in an email. Further, due to the low rates of migration(移民) in China in this period, we can know peoples exposure over long time periods, he said. The policy gave free coal for fuel boilers to heat homes and offices to cities north of the Huai River which divides China into north and south. It was in effect for much of the 1950-1980 period of central planning, and, though discontinued after 1980, it has left a legacy(遗留) in the north of heavy coal burning, which releases particulate pollutants into the air that can harm human health. Researchers found no other government policies that treated Chinas north differently from the south. The researchers collected data for 90 cities, from 1981 to xx, on the annual daily average concentration of total suspended(悬浮的)particulates. In China, those are considered to be particulates that are 100 micrometers or less in diameter, sent out from sources including power stations, construction sites and vehicles. Among them, PM2.5 is of especially great health concern because it can go deep into the lungs. The researchers estimated the impact on life expectancies using death data from 1991-xx They found that in the north, the concentration of particulates was 184 micrograms per cubic meter一or 55 percent higher than in the south, and life expectancies were 5.5 years lower on average across all age ranges.12The main idea of this passage is that _. A. the government provided free coal for heating in North China B. research in China finds air pollution shortened life expectancy C. coal burning causes bad air quality across China D. a new study finds different particulates in South China13According to Greenstone,_ greatly contributed to the high pollution concentrations in North China. A. gases from vehicles B. construction sites C. the free heating policy D. power stations14It is implied in the passage that _. A. coal is no longer used for heating in North China B. air quality was paratively better in South China C. southerners burned coals for heating in the 1980s D. people preferred to live in South China after 198015The underlined word particulates most probably means _ A. dirty clouds B. particular smoke C. dangerous gases D. harmful dust第二节(共5小题;每小题2分, 满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 注:E涂AB F涂AC G 涂AD Dear editor,Several days ago, I heard that a dear friend of mine had killed herself.
