2019-2020年高中英语Unit2Period2ReadingThe General Idea of This Period:In this part, we are going to read a letter from Toby to Aihua. In the letter, Toby describes his trip to Africa in the ing summer holiday. He uses the future tenses, which are not difficult for the students to understand. And there are not many language points. So we aim at improving the students reading ability and master the tenses used in the letter. We can learn the reading part as usual. But we should try our best to develop the students creative, prehensive and consolidating abilities as well. So I think we can ask the students to act out the story of Tobys traveling in Africa after reading the letter better.Teaching Aims:1. Train the students reading ability.2. Present the information they collected.Step 2 Lead- in(show a map of Africa to students and ask them to discuss the following questions)T: In Unit 1, we talked about African pyramids, a world wonder that cant be explained by humans. And just now we got a lot of information about the grasslands of Africa, a faraway but exciting place that weles your visit. Apart from the grasslands, what else do you know about Africa?S1: In Africa, there are lots of people who are struggling with poverty, disease and civil unrest. Some people from other countries venture into the remotest areas and live with local people for several months, to try and experience real life in African. I think this is very challenging but fairly interesting.S2: South Africa is a very large and extraordinarily varied land, offering almost unlimited opportunities for adventure travel of all sorts -from diving and white-water rafting to mountain-climbing and trekking.S3: For most visitors, adventure travel in South Africa means safari travel, and the best-known safari area in the country is Eastern Transvaal, a continuous stretch of savanna extending for 400 miles along South Africas northeastern border. The Eastern Transvaal is home to Kruger National Park, undoubtedly one of the finest game reserves in all of Africa.(While taking up the above activity, point at the places mentioned on the map.)T: very good!
