10 Famous Speeches,I.Background Information,Martin Luther King,Martin Luther King,who was born in 1929,is well-known to us all as a freedom fighter.When he was fifteen,he went to university.He fought for polities rights for black people in the USA.He demanded that blacks shouldnt be treated as slaves but should have equal rights.On December,1,1955,a black woman in Alabama was arrested by the police for she had refused to stand up for a white man on bus.King led a boycott of the bus company.From then on,he led many demonstrations against racial discrimination.Although he was often beaten or arrested,he consisted that the black should be equally treated.“We have waited 340 years for our rights!We find it difficult to wait.This wait has almost always meant never.he said.It inspired the black a lot to fight for their rights.In 1963,he gave the famous speech“I have a dream in Washington D.C.,which inspired people to fight for equality.Then he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.King was murdered in 1968.During his life,he put his heart and soul into fighting for equalities and he had already changed the society.,Bill Gates,Bill Gates is the head of the software company Microsoft and one of the worlds wealthiest men.Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft in the 1970s,though Allen left the company in 1983.Gates oversaw the invention and marketing of the MS-DOS operating system,the Windows operating interface,the Internet Explorer browser,and a multitude of other popular computer products.Along the way he gained a reputation for fierce competitiveness and aggressive business savvy.During the 1990s rising Microsoft stock prices made Gates the worlds wealthiest man;his wealth has at times exceeded$75 billion,making Gates a popular symbol of the ascendant computer geek of the late 20th century.Extra credit:Gates married Melinda French,a Microsoft employee,on 1 January 1994.The couple has three children:daughters Jennifer Katharine(b.1996)and Phoebe Adele(b.2002)and son Rory John(b.1999).Gates personal charitable initiative,the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,has focused on global health issues,especially on preventing malaria and AIDS in poor countries;in 2005,ABC News reported that he had given away over six billion dollars in the previous five years.,II.Lead In,Speaking in public is most peoples least favorite thing.The reason is that into the text.,1.Why do people want to make public speeches?,Making public speeches is an effective way to make people know ones ideas,opinions and purposes.The speakers want to persuade others to agree their opinions,support them or learn something from their speeches.,2.What preparations do we need to make before giving a speech?,Give a topic,find more material about the topic,and choose the useful material,reorganize the material,be familiar with your material.,3.Is there any speaking skill?,You should speak clearly,confidently,passionately,loudly.,4.What matters do we need to pay
