ABees play a vital role in the world. Unfortunately, bees are dying by the second. The main purpose of bees is to make honey. Honey, shockingly, does not exist for human consumption; it is essential to the insects. Honeybees store honey in their hives(蜂箱) in order for the bees to have energy for their flight muscles and for heating the hives during the winter period. They collect pollen(花粉) which supplies protein for young bees to grow.According to National Honey Board, the increased production and quality of agricultural crops as a result of honeybee pollination are valued at more than $14.6 billion per year. These insects are responsible for over 70 of the fruits and vegetables we eat today, including apples, grapes, coffee, beans, and broccoli. So if they are so valuable to agriculture, why do they keep dying off? A key suspect seems to be pesticides(农药). Honeybees who are exposed to pesticides result in the damage to their neurological(神经系统的) functions, specifically memory or behavior. And thats why the majority of worker bees disappear and leave behind a queen, plenty of food and a few nurse bees to care for the remaining immature bees and the queen. There are several other causes of the decline of bees, including the destruction of natural habitats, like woodlands, forests, and other habitats for bees. Climate change is also a factor in the decline of the wild bee population. Actually, there are a variety of methods to help the bee population grow. One way is to start your own organic garden by planting beefriendly plants. Pesticides are used in both industrial practices and even in your home, so it is best to find organic seeds and weed killers.【解题导语】本文是一篇说明文。 1Why do honeybees store honey in their hives?ATo provide enough honey for humans to consume.BTo draw protein out of honey for young bees.CTo help attract other insects and make hives stronger.DTo strengthen bee muscles and heat hives in winter.D解析:细节理解题。根据第二段的第三句“Honeybees store honey in their hives(蜂箱) in order for the bees to have energy for their flight muscles and for heating the hives during the winter period.” 2Apples and beans are mentioned in the third paragraph to show that Abees supply human beings with basic foodBbees mainly live on these agricultural cropsCbees are of great importance to fruits and vegetablesDbees can bring in more money for farmers every yearC解析:细节理解题。根据第三段的“These insects are responsible for over 70 of the fruits and vegetables we eat today, including apples, grapes, coffee, beans, and broccoli.” 3What is most likely to cause the worker bees to leave their hives behind?AThe lack of food.BThe abuse of pesticides.CThe fighting among bees.DThe destruction of the habitats.B解析:细节理解题。根据第四段的“Honeybees who are exposed to pesticides. And thats why the majority of worker bees disappear”可知,农药的滥用导致了工蜂离开蜂箱,故B项正确。4What would the author probably discuss in the paragraph that follows?AAnother way to save bees.BOther tips for choosing seeds.CMore methods to plant green organic fruits.DCauses of the decline in the wild bee population.A解析:推理判断题。根据第五段的第一、二句“Actually, there are a variety of methods to help the bee population grow. The software, called Nestor, is used in two online classes at the ESG business school beginning in September. The idea, according to LCA founder Marcel Saucet, is to use the data that Nestor collects to improve the performance of both students and professors. The software uses students webcams(网络摄像机)to analyze eye movements and facial expressions and determine whether students are paying attention to a video lecture. It then formulates quizzes based on the content covered during moments of inattentiveness. Professors would also be able to identify moments when students attention declined, which could help to improve their teaching, Saucet says.Advocates for AI in education say that the software is actually unable to teach a course, but the technology could be used as a digital tutor that would adapt to a students individual needs, and help develop more effective studying habits. Such software could also help teachers by providing feedback on the effectiveness of their teaching, advocates say.Saucet says Nestor wont store any of the video footage it gets and that his pany has no plans to sell any other data the software collects. In addition to facial recognition and analysis, the software can integrate(合并)with students calendars to suggest possible study times, and track their online behavior to pick up on patterns.Rose Luckin, a professor at the University College London Knowledge Lab, says AI could unlock the “black box of learning” by providing information on how and when learning happens. Luckin says a program like Nestor could be useful for students who take classes remotely, since “there isnt a human there watching them.” And while some are concerned that AI may one day replace teachers, Luckin sees the technology more as an assistant, rather than a replacement. Saucet agrees. “Human contact is not going to go away,” he says. “There will always be professors.”1.How does Nestor work to find out when students arent paying attention?A. By collecting the data of students performance in different classes.B. By collecting the students grades in the quizzes.C. By shooting and analyzing students eye movements and facial expressions.D. By identifying moments when students attention declined.2.Which is the benefit of AI education?A. It could be used exactly to replace a tutor.B. It helps student to develop more effective studying habits.C. The software is able to satisfy the requirement of a course.D. It could help teachers to give feedback on students performance.3.How does Nestor deal with the information collected from students?A. Nestor will use it to suggest possible study time to students schedule.B. It wont store any video footage but facial expression.C. The pany hasnt expected to make profits by selling the data to other corporations.D. Nestor will use it to keep track online of students behavior and punish them.4.What is Rose Luckins attitude towards the replacement of teachers with AI?A. Objective.B. Approving.C. Indifferent.D. Opposed.【文章大意】本文介绍新的软件Nestor。它通过对学生眼球运动和面部表情的拍摄和分析来判断学生是否注意力集中。这种软件只对教学其辅助作用并不能替代老师。2.B 【解析】细节理解题。根据第三段第一句Advocates for AI in education say that the software is actually unable to teach a course, but the technology could be used as a digital tutor that would adapt to a students individual needs, and help develop more effective studying habits.可知AI education帮助学生养成更有效的学习习惯。故选B。 4.D 【解析】推理判断题。根据最后一段中And while some are concerned that AI may one day replace teachers, Luckin sees the technology more as an assistant, rather than a replacement. At home, robots will help people do some housework and care of the elderly, babies and p atients. In addition to these ,robots will even be able to play chess and do exercise with people. In factories, robots will be used to perform some dangerous jobs avoid accidents.Robots will change our future life many ways, will make it more colorful and fortable.,we shouldnt depend on intelligent robots too much, for they made to help humans rather than replace us.As helpers of humans, robots should be used properly.第一处:widewidely。考查副词。修饰动词,故用副词。wide也可作副词,意为“尽可能广地”,不符合语境。第二处:takingtake。考查固定用法。根据该句中的“help people do some housework and”可知,此处应用原形;help sb.(to) do sth.为固定用法。第三处:tasktasks。考查名词的数。task为可数名词,根据该词前的these可知,应用复数形式。第四处:删除the。考查冠词。play chess为固定用法,意为“下象棋”;棋类名词前不用冠词。第五处:jobs后加to。考查动词不定式。在工厂里,机器人将被用于执行危险任务,以避免事故。分析句子结构可知,应用动词不定式表目的。第六处:byin。考查介词。in many ways意为“在很多方面”。 Afel was only a very small boy when he first saw snow. But it wasnt real snow that he saw. Actually, there was no real snow where he lived. He saw the snow in a picture book, which had lots of pictures of children playing in big white fields. He dreamed about snow all the time, trying to imagine how it really was. He thought of big white fields. He thought of the big, heavy clothes the children playing in the snow wore. He thought about feeling cold. He dreamed of being able to fly across the white fields of snow. Then, when Afel was twelve years old, the next thing happened. One day when he was watching TV at his uncles house. His uncle had a big new TV, with all the satellite channels. Afel was watching one of the satellite channels, and a program full of snow came on. And not only snow. There were people flying across the snow. They looked like fantastic birds. They had hats which covered all their heads and big goggles(护目镜) over their eyes. They wore brightly-colored clothes. And on their feet, they had things that looked like strange shoes. What are those? he asked his uncle excitedly. They are skis, replied his uncle. And those people are called skiers. Afel was in love. Here was the snow, and here were people who were flying across the snow. At that moment, he decided, he wanted to be a skier. He asked his uncle what the program was. The Winter Olympics, said his uncle. Its like the normal Olympics, but for sports where you need snow skiing, ice skating, bobsleigh, those sorts of things. They have it every four years.Perfect, he thought. Enough time for me to bee a brilliant skier. Then Ill go to the next Winter Olympics, and win the gold medal for skiing. But theres no snow here! people told him. Where are you going to ski?注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;2.应使用5个以上短文中标有下划线的关键词语;3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。Paragraph 1:Afel didnt care._Paragraph 2:So every night, out in the middle of the desert, Afel practiced skiing down sand hills._【参考范文】One possible version:Paragraph 1:(第一段)Afel didnt care. He made himself a pair of skis from two pieces of wood. He tied them to his feet and practiced skiing holding two sticks in his hands as the professional skiers do. At first he couldnt move, but he practiced and practiced and practiced until he could move quite quickly across the sand or the earth. He tried to fly down sand hills like the skiers on TV, but he couldnt. He could only move slowly. But he told himself this was not the reason why he stopped making efforts.Paragraph 2:(第二段)So every night, out in the middle of the desert, Afel practiced skiing down sand hills. He dreamed that the yellow sand of the desert and brown earth were the white fields of snow he saw in the book and on the television. He dreamed that the yellow sand and brown earth were as gold as the medal he would bring home with him, when he was the world champion in the Winter Olympics. 写作时可能会用到的画线词有the white fields of snow, Winter Olympics, medal等。
