UK英国。全称为United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland(大不列颠及北爱尔兰联合王国)。欧洲西部到过。国土由大不列颠岛全部、爱尔兰岛东北部及周围的5500多个小岛组成,分为英格兰、威尔士、苏格兰和北爱尔兰四个地区。2. The River Thames泰晤士河。泰晤士河发源于英格兰西南部,向东流经伦敦注入北海,是英国境内最长也是最重要的水路。这条河流的名称取自凯尔特语的一个单词,意思是“宽阔的河流”。在伦敦上游,泰晤士河沿岸有许多名胜之地,诸如伊顿、牛津、亨利和温莎等,而在伦敦下游则多商船,其繁忙与以静态之美著称的上游河道形成鲜明对比。3. Great Britain大不列颠(岛),又称不列颠,包括英格兰、威尔士、苏格兰三个部分,以及周围的一些小岛。4.The Romes 古罗马人。公元前八世纪,古罗马人建立了强大的中央集权制国家。公元前58年以后的八年间,罗马统帅凯撒率领大军征服了外高卢(如今的法国、比利时等)后,又占领了不列颠岛北部。此后,古罗马的文明传入了不列颠。5. The Anglo-Saxons 盎格鲁-撒克逊人。原住在莱茵河流域,属于日耳曼人的部落。公元5至7世纪,盎格鲁-撒克逊人入侵不列颠东南部,把凯尔特人排挤到西北部山地。后与入侵的诺曼人经几个世纪融合形成英格兰人。英语即以盎格鲁-撒克逊语为基础,吸收诺曼语和古法兰西语的成分而形成。现在的英格兰人约占全国人口的80%以上。6.
