商务英语翻译第一讲 商务英语翻译概论 一. 商务英语定义 商务活动所涉及的许多领域如：技术引进、对外贸易、招商引资、对外劳务承包与合同、国际金融、涉外保险、国际旅游、海外投资、国际运输等，所使用的英语统称为商务英语（Business English）。 第一节：综述 二.商务英语的特点 商务英语是英语的一种社会功能变体，是专门用途英语（English for Specific Purposes)中的一个分支，具有独特的语言现象和表现内容。 1. 文体复杂 表现在涉及的专业范围很广，广告英语、航运英语、包装英语、信函英语、进出口英语等功能变体因故。 2. 词汇专业、词义丰富 商 务 英 语 在 词 汇 使 用 上 的 最 大 特 点 是 对 专 业 词 汇的 精 确 运 用 ， 其 中 包 括 大 量 具 有 商 务 含 义 的 普 通 词和 复 合 词 、 以 及 缩 略 词 语 等 。 例 1： Industrial averages were up. 工 业 股 票 的 平 均 价 格 在 上 涨 。 Average is of two kinds: General Average and Particular Average. 海 损 费 用 有 两 种 ： 一 种 是 共 同 海 损 ， 另 一 种 是单 独 海 损 。 例2：He gave his house as a security. 他以房子做抵押。 例3：Treasury securities are revalued daily. 国库券每天都重新估价。例4： soft market 疲软市场（以低价或跌价为特征的市场） soft loan 较宽松的还款条件/利息较低的贷款 例5 It is not surprising, then, that the world saw a return to a floating exchange rate system. Central banks were no longer required to support their own currencies. Floating policy is of great importance for export trade; it is, in fact, a convenient method of insuring goods where a number of similar export transactions are intended, e.g. where the insured has to supply an overseas importer under an exclusive sales agreement or maintains sales representatives or subsidiary companies abroad. 在 这 种 情 况 下 ， 世 界 各 国 又 恢 复 浮 动 汇 率 就 不 足 为奇 了 。 各 国 中 英 银 行 也 就 无 须 维 持 本 币 的 汇 价 了。 统 保 单 对 出 口 贸 易 至 关 重 要 。 它 实 际 上 是 货 物 保 险中 的 一 种 便 利 的 办 法 ， 特 别 适 合 于 分 不 同 的 时 间 出口 的 一 批 类 似 货 物 ， 如 ， 当 被 保 险 方 根 据 独 家 代 理协 议 书 向 国 外 的 进 口 方 供 货 ， 或 在 国 外 委 任 了 销 售代 表 ， 设 立 分 支 机 构 时 用 之。 3. 句法特殊 商 务 英 语 句 法 从 整 体 上 讲 ， 呈 现 出 两 种 截 然 相 反的 文 体 特 征 。 一 方 面 ， 商 务 英 语 日 趋 口 语 化 、 简 单 化 ， 表 现 在语 言 结 构 上 ， 简 单 句 并 列 句 甚 至 省 略 句 的 使 用 愈 来愈 多 。 另 一 方 面 ， 一 些 商 务 文 本 的 法 律 属 性 ， 如 商 务 合同 等 决 定 了 商 务 英 语 语 言 严 密 性 、 准 确 性 的 特 征 ，表 现 在 语 言 结 构 上 大 量 使 用 长 句 、 复 合 句 、 并 列 复合 句 等 句 式 ， 以 及 被 动 句 、 倒 装 句 和 含 有 较 长 插 入语 、 同 位 语 、 介 词 短 语 的 特 殊 句 型 。 例1： As requested in your letter of 21 June, we are enclosing our check for $100.00. 按照你方6月21 日来信的要求，随信附上100美元支票一张。（例1英文原文口语化。比较：Re your letter of 21st inst.,in connection with our account, we are remitting our check herewith, as per your request, in the amount of $100.00.) 例2 This contract is made by and between the buyers and the sellers, whereby the buyers agree to buy and the sellers agree to sell the under-mentioned commodity according to the terms and conditions stipulated below. 本合同由买卖双方订立，双方同意按照下面规定的条款买卖以下商品。 （评析：商 务 合 同 需 确 保 所 述 事 项 准 确 、 严 格 ， 有效 避 免 纠 纷） 例3 本 合 同 规 定 美 元 的 价 值 由 议 付 日 中 国 银 行 公 布 的 美元 对 德 国 马 克 、 法 国 法 郎 的 平 均 买 卖 汇 率 的 比 率 来确 定 。 The value of US Dollars under this contract is determined by the ratio of the mean buying and selling rates of US Dollars against Deutsche Marks and French Francs published by the Bank of China on the date of negotiation. 例3If， whether during the execution of the works or after their completion and whether before or after the reputation or other termination of the contract, between the Employer and the Contractor arises any dispute in connection with, or arising out of, the Contract or the execution of the works, including any disagreement by either party with any action, inaction, opinion, instruction, determination, certificate or valuation of the Engineer, the matter shall, in the first place, be referred to the Disputes Review Board. 无 论 是 在 工 程 执 行 过 程 中 ， 还 是 在 工 程 完 成 以 后 ，也 无 论 是 在 放 弃 合 同 或 其 他 终 止 合 同 之 前 或 者 之 后 ，如 果 业 主 和 承 包 商 之 间 出 现 任 何 与 合 同 或 工 程 执 行有 关 而 引 发 的 争 端 ， 包 括 任 何 一 方 对 工 程 师 的 任 何行 动 、 不 行 动 、 意 见 、 指 示 、 决 定 、 证 书 或 评 价 所产 生 的 异 议 ， 那 么 该 争 端 应 首 先 提 交 争 端 审 核 委 员会 。 4. 陈述事物往往具体、明确，不能含糊其辞。 比较： We wish to confirm our telex dispatched yesterday. We confirm our telex of July 2nd, 2000. 基本翻译标准一. “信”“达”“雅”- 严复（1898）二. “直译”“意译”- 王佐良（1979）三. 翻译“三原则” -泰特勒 英国 18世纪末 1. 译文应完全复写出原作的思想（A translation should give a complete transcript of the ideas of the original work)。 2. 译文的风格和笔调应与原文的性质相同（The style and manner of writing should be of the same character as that of the original)。 3. 译文应和原作同样流畅（A translation should have all the ease of the original composition)。 第二节 商务英语翻译的标准 四. “功能对等”（Functional Equivalence) 奈达 美国 原文与译文在信息内容、说话方式、文体、风格、语言、文化、社会因素等各方面达到对等。 五. “语义翻译”、“交际翻译” 纽马克，英国 以原语文本为中心， 以译语文化读者为中心 商 务 翻 译 基 本 标 准 1. 原 文 与 译 文 语 义 信 息 对 等 语 义 信 息 包 括 ： 表 层 语 义 信 息 （ surface structure semantic message) 和 深 层 语 义 信 息 (deep structure semantic message) 例1： If, within thirty days after receipt by a party of a proposal made in accordance with paragraph 1, parties have not reached agreement on the choice of a sole arbitrator, the sole arbitrator shall be appointed by the appointing authority agreed upon by the parties. 如 果 当 事 人 一 方 收 到 按 照 第 一 款 提 出 的 建 议 后 三 十天 内 未 能 就 遴 选 独 任 仲 裁 员 达 成 协 议 ， 则 应 由 当 事人 所 约 定 的 制 定 机 关 指 定 独 任 仲 裁 员 。（评析：所 有 法 律 文 献 只 表 达 字 面 意 思 ， 不 能 有 任何 的 引 申 。 法 律 文 献 所 承 载 的 信 息 就 是 语 言 文 字 的表 面 所 传 递 的 信 息 ， 不 存 在 任 何 的 深 层 语 义 结 构 。 ） 2.原文与译文风格信息对等 国际商务英语涉及不同文体的语言形式，如公文、法律、广告等。 例1： The home of your dreams awaits you behind this door. Whether your taste be a country manor estate or a penthouse in the sky, you will find the following pages filled with the worlds most elegant residences. 打 开 门 ， 恭 候 您 的 就 是 梦 寐 以 求 的 家 。 无 论 您 企 盼的 是 一 座 乡 间 宅 邸 ， 抑 或 是 一 间 摩 天 大 楼 的 顶 屋 ，翻 开 下 面 几 页 就 可 以 看 到 世 界 上 最 高 雅 的 住 宅 供 您选 择 。 （ 评 析 ： 此 为 一 则 广 告 ， 该 广 告 中“ await,be,manor,elegant,residence” 等 均 是 正式 语 汇 ， 代 替 了 口 语 体 的wait,is,house,nice,place. 选 择 较 为 文 雅 的 用 词烘 托 出 商 品 的 高 贵 品 质 ， 满 足 这 类 商 品 消 费 者 讲 究身 份 、 追 求 上 乘 的 心 理 。 以 “ 恭 候 、 企 盼 、 宅 邸 、高 雅 的 住 宅 ” 在 语 体 色 彩 及 风 格 上 尽 量 与 原 文 对应 。 ） 一.分析 对原文语言现象、文化背景、语篇类型及特征 1. 语言分析： 词汇意义（一词多义、多词同义等）、各成分之间的语法关系（如主谓结构、修饰结构等）、修辞手段（如拟声、双关、头韵、排比等）。 2. 文化背景： 因语言、历史、地理、风俗习惯等不同而造成的各民族独特的表达法和逻辑思维的分析。 3. 语篇类型： 原文题材、体裁、文体、风格乃至语篇内在的衔接、连贯等的分析。 第三节 商务英语翻译过程 二. 转换 从语义结构分析道产生译文初稿的过程。三. 重组 重新组织译文中的词汇特征、句法特征和语篇特征。 四. 检验 1. 与源文本进行比较 2. 逆向翻译 3. 对译文理解层面、自然程度、可读性进行检验。 1. It is better to change investment structure and orient the investment to infrastructure industries of the national economy such as agriculture, energy, securities；however, investment in the infrastructure industry will not (at least in the short term) bring high economic benefits. It is imperative to orient the investment to enterprises with better economic benefits, State-owned enterprises in particular, have been concentrated on the highly monopolized industries such as tobacco, petrochemicals and telecommunications, and the high speed development of these enterprises will play a limited role in promoting the whole of society.
