In the second quarter sales rose dramatically before falling to 600,000. Fortunately, the last quarter showed some improvement and this has carried on into this year. ,Example 2: (Version:EN000) Which company do they decide to use for their re-branding exercise? A Neptune B Goldberg C Hambleton,答案:A 解析: M: For the re-branding, Ive a feeling Neptune will do the job well. Theyre a small company but their bid was great. F: I thought Goldberg were cheaper? M: Yes, but their ideas are too vague, and as for Hambleton . I spent ages trying to arrange meetings with them! They might be the biggest but really . F: Sometimes small is best. Lets go with your suggestion then.,1. When must the woman be at the airport to meet Mr. Kimoto? A. 3:30 B.3:45 C.4:15,Script,M:Jane, could you possibly meet Mr. Kimoto off his flight today, please? M: Its ninety-five pounds per week for standard cars, or a hundred and twenty pounds for the luxury models. F: I only need it for three days. The standard models fine.,M: That would be sixty pounds, at the daily rate of twenty pounds, including insurance. F: Thats OK. (fade). Example3: (Version:EN000),答案:11 .(Mr.) Hawkwind 12 .809209 13 .(The) Park Center / Centre 14 .Software News,F: Hi, Intertech Publications, Gina speaking. How can I help you? M: Hi, Id like to place an order, please. F: OK sir, can I take your name? M: Sure, its Mr Hawkwind, thats H-A-W-K-W-I-N-D. F: Thank you. Well deliver within 4 days. M: Great. And many thanks. ,Example4: (Version:EN000) You will hear five people talking about the difficulties they faced when they gave up fulltime jobs to become freelance consultants. As you listen, decide which difficulty each speaker mentions. Choose your answer from the list A . I, and write the correct letter in the space provided. You will hear the five pieces once only.,R: Question 23. Person 1. F: People think what youll miss is the routine of having an office to go to every day but that actually gave me a great sense of freedom. What I found tough at the beginning was choosing which projects to reject and which ones looked the most promising in terms of financial reward and future offers of work. If youre not careful, you can end up saying yes to everything that comes your way. R: Question 24. Person 2. M: I think because of the technology available nowadays you dont feel isolated from other professionals in your field; there are plenty of electronic substitutes for being in an office. But what you dont have is the opportunity to chat to people from other departments, with expertise in other areas. I really missed that and hadnt realized how much I had depended on being able to check out other peoples opinions before taking an idea forward. R: Question 25. Person 3. F: I think the hardest thing for me was the change I had to make in my mind. I went from having a senior position in a large corporation with all that comes with that; the car, a generous expense account, etc, as well as the respect of colleagues, to being a nobody. People didnt automatically take my calls any more. R: Question 26. Person 4. M: I found it very challenging to adjust to the fact that there wasnt anyone to call when my computer broke down. Its very frustrating having to sort out these things on your own. It takes so much time. But other than that, Id recommend the life of a consultant to any of my former colleagues. R: Question 27. Person 5. F: Youve always got to think ahead three months or six months to the next project to make sure youve got enough work lined up to pay the bills. At the beginning, it was hard not having a regular pay cheque at the end of every month. Some people find it a terrible worry. But work soon picked up for me, and you actually end up getting paid more for consultancy work.,答案: 23 G 24 H 25 C 26 F 27 E,Example5: (Version:EN000) Questions 39-44 You will hear part of a radio interview with Simon Butcher, a business analyst from management consultancy firm. A working with teams providing technical services B working on a wide range of projects C working more on the business side 42 Within Simon Butchers firm, new employees go up the payscale A after a six-monthly review. B according to their annual performance. C at the same time as their colleagues every year 43 What does Simon Butcher say about his working hours? A He has to work over the weekend if there are schedules to meet. B He is prepared to work long hours when there are things to do. C He finishes at 7 oclock every evening so he can play sport. 44 What does Simon Butcher think of his company as a place to work? A There is little time to learn things you previously knew nothing about. B There are too many targets to be achieved each year. C There are very rigid and inflexible structures in place.,第四类题目没有太多值得提起的地方,跟我们大学英语四六级的听力有相似之处,但是,其难点是,听懂了未必能选出正确答案来,选项的设置都比较confusing,仔细思考后方可作出选择。 39.B 40.A 41.C 42.C 43.B 44.A,原文和辨析:,PAUSE: 0002” F: Today Im talking to Simon Butcher, a business analyst with management consultancy firm SPC Associates. First off, Simon, could you explain what your job involves? M: Well, Ive been working for 18 months, since I finished my business degree, and for all that time Ive been doing business integration work for one major multi-national company. Were rolling out an online purchasing solution for them, around the world. And currently Im based in their London office, and thats for 11 months, so theres a high degree of client interaction. F: Has your firm given you any extra training, especially for the technical side of the job? M: Well, the firm puts everyone through a five-week introductory course as a graduate recruit. I did three weeks basic computer programming. Then I did an additional two-week e-commerce course. Since then Ive done two further three-day courses, an introduction to business and one on business finance. Now that Im in my second year, I get to choose my next training course and I might have the chance to train in Asia. F: Is the job what you expected, when you joined? M: Its more technically focused than I thought it would be. I needed the training so I could work with our technical teams and understand the services we provide. But, now, if you join with an interest in business issues, you get support to help you follow that route, which is what I thought Id be getting. The firms really acknowledged that the personal preferences of new recruits must be taken into account when theyre being assigned projects. F: And what sort of financial incentives does your firm offer? M: Well, at the beginning, people get a pay rise en masse once yearly. Generally, you go up a level on the payscale every November. After you have been there two years, your pay becomes performance related. This is calculated based on your six-monthly performance review meetings. F: I presume you work long hours M: My hours of work vary. As deadlines near, I can expect to work longer hours. On average, Id say I work between 50 and 55 hours a week 8am to 7pm. Its important to make sure youre achieving your work goals but at the same you need balance in your life. Having a regular evening activity a couple of times a week, like playing tennis, works for me. You have to get some breathing space from the office. I dont mind working hard during the week, but I keep my weekends sacred; I havent worked one in the last 14 months. F: Would you say its a good place to work? M: In general theres a strong support system. Its very structured. There are regular reviews with your manager when you set targets, plus each employee is assigned a mentor who helps set yearly goals across a range of criteria. But to do well here, Id say you have to be quick off the mark because you can be thrown in at the deep end and have to master a new skill or understand a new area of work within a tight timeframe. It definitely helps to be flexible.,对于39题,从第一段中划线的两句话,我们可以推断出Mr. Butcher正是expected to be working more on the business side,因此正确答案是C。 My hours of work vary. As deadlines near, I can expect to work longer hours. Having a regular evening activity a couple of times a week, like playing tennis, works for me. “而选择C。 44中涉及到两个idioms, “be quick off the mark”是指快速行动;”thrown in at the deep end”意思是”处于非常困难的境地”,”thrown in at the deep end”意思就是让你做一件 很难的事情而不给你任何准备的机会。 我们应该在单人独白中重点留意一些信号词的出现:first of all, next, another thing is that, also, next, one final point is,这些“承上启下”的连接信号词可以帮助考生更好的掌握试题发展的节奏,从而确保信息和试题的一一对应。,4. But, however, despite, in spite of this, apparently, actually, But in fact, surely, in particular, specially, significantly,博思英语听力专项练习(一)-数字、姓名、地址的听写,数字听力(Number Listening),目标: 学会根据试题中的关键词预测答案的形式。 Its three six five o double two three nine. (36502239) The number is four five three two thousand. He was born in nineteen sixty nine. (1969) The company was founded in two thousand and three. (2003) 时间 Its six forty-five. ,价格 This costs nine dollar fifty nine. Two thirds of all textile products come from China. (2/3) 基数 America produces three hundred million aluminum cans everyday. Australia is second only to Antarctica in the lack of rainfall. The correct answer should be naught point one eight. More than thirty percent of all marriages end in divorce. F: Certainly, sir. Could you give me your name, please? M: Yes. Its Ken Saunders. F: How do you spell that, please? Smithfield Road. 43A North Street No.1 Queens Park Avenue Flat 3, 89 Road Lane P.O. 一般说话人所使用的提示词有:but;but I think;real;fact is that;not the case;it is which/that;,答题技巧:听之前,、阅读题目说明,和题干,推测大意,了解背景 、阅读题干,浏览选项,找出关键词或提示词。 信号词,注意信号词!,转折词:but, yet, however, nevertheless 最高级:the most, the least 比较:notas, more than, compare with, rather than, instead of, on the other hand 强调词:did,do, simply only, unique, sole, just 因果词:so, thus, therefore, as a result, thats why,注意信号词!,转折词:but, yet, however, nevertheless 最高级:the most, the least 比较:notas, more than, compare with, rather than, instead of, on the other hand 强调词:did,do, simply only, unique, sole, just 因果词:so, thus, therefore, as a result, thats why,其他技巧,3. ,常考话题,咨询 客户投诉 客户索赔 更改约会 工作安排 日程安排,确认订单 确认行程 提出意见和要求 预定 邀请 通知 道歉,话语功能,a. complaint: make, confirm product quality 产品质量 b. appointment/meeting/invitation: make, confirm 时间/事件 change 先道歉 推迟(postpone) 取消(cancel) 细节变动 confirm 先道谢 c. assistance/permission/advice: ask for, give 上级对下级是give,下级对上级是ask for d. satisfaction/appreciation/compliment/congratulation You deserve it. e. make an enquire/ask for information/order/make a reservation,f. recommend/suggest/propose soI thinkshould, had better, would, have to effective 有效的 help, work g. explain so, then, therefore, as a result, thats why h. apologize/refuse i. contradict 比较 in comparison, however, while, on the other hand similarly, quite similar, likewise j. doubt think it over, take sth. into account, reconsideration k. criticize/sarcasm/warn讥讽,挖苦,熟悉话题,了解各种商业场合的语言运用,办公室、工作环境、和日常工作:安排和再安排约会和会议;做计划和任务安排;确认或改变计划;征得同意和授予同意;给予和接受指示;预测和描述未来可能性 问询和给予意见:同意和不同意;给予、接受和拒绝建议或推荐;决定和过往行动的评价 分辨文件类型理解会议记录;理解办公室文件(报告,信函,备忘录等),买卖:确定付款日期和送货日期;出单和下订单;制定协议;合同谈判 公司结构、体系和处理过程:展示和描述公司结构和过程;交换关于公司资源设备的信息;理解和解释公司的生产、订货和送货体系;理解和解释制造过程;问询和解释错误 目标实现和成绩:描述和解释公司表现和成果、趋势、时间和变化 理解和讨论一般商务话题,如管理技能、推广策略,培训课程,商务服务等。,1) 人员:security guard, receptionist, typist, (dictate), secretary, assistant salesperson, shop assistant, consultant, advisor, analyst, researcher expert, specialist, operator, cleaner, courier(通信员,联络员) engineer, machinist, technologist, technician engineer 工程师 machinist 机械师 technologist 技术人员 technician 技工 trainer, trainee, participant 参与者 , badge 胸卡 tech-support 技术支持 2)问题:problem, trouble, failure, breakdown, crackdown, out of order,3) 活动 programme, session 一次课 fee 费用too fussy/picky 挑三拣四的 seminar(座谈会),presentation, discussion, workshop, group(分组) ,conference 4)出差airhostess, stewardess(空中小姐) check in, luggage, case, purse, take off, land, arrive, board, window seat, aisle seat, briefcase(公文包)suitcase(拉杆箱) 5)住宿:预约reserve/book 入住 check in 登记表 registration card room double room/twin room suite 套房executive room 行政间 facility , wake-up call, laundry, courteous bus(礼仪车), airport shuttle, 航天飞机、羽毛球、运行工具,6) 部门:headquarters, head office(总部),subsidiary隶属的, branch, office(分公司) 7) 设备 printer(打印机), photocopier(复印机), fax(传真 answering machine(答录机), projector(投影仪),scanner(扫描仪) paper shredder(碎纸机), video player, video recorder duplicate 复印,8)文件 bank statement银行清算单 bank account(银行帐户), current account(活期帐户), deposit account(定期帐户) transfer 转帐cash现金cheque支票 interest rate利率exchange rate 汇率bank holidy银行假日 financial statement财务报表 balance sheet 资产负债表assets 资产liabilities负债equity权益 current assets流动资产fixed assets固定资产 invisible/intan
