Children need two or three kinds of vegetables every day. A simple way to get children to eat vegetables is eating them ourselves. Following our example, they may start eating vegetables. Dont say things like, if you eat your vegetables, you can have desserts. These methods work for a little while but can possibly lead them to hate vegetables more. Giving your children new varieties (多样性)of food which will help them develop a taste for trying new things. Sometimes the simple things just dont work. We have to start being a little creative to making our children eat these vegetables. By doing this in the beginning when children are small, we will help them learn to love vegetables. Think of creative ways to make children eat vegetables. For example, cut up vegetables like carrots, tomatoes, and place them in a creative way on a plate for an afternoon snack. Or try using cheese sauce either by dipping (浸) vegetables in it or by putting the cheese right on top of the uncooked vegetables. If you prefer, you can also add a teaspoon of sugar on top of cooked green beans and peas to make them a little sweeter taste. Doing this shouldnt lead to a sweet tooth as long as you only give them a small amount. If you have a child that refuses to eat vegetables, some of these suggestions Ive listed will help to turn that around. In the end, youre not only just getting them to eat vegetables, youre also helping them to live a healthier lifestyle. 21. Jim said after a dinner to his friends in a restaurant. What does Jim mean? Long ago, there was a kind of dinner called Dutch treat(款待). At a Dutch treat, the invited guests were expected to pay for their own share of the food and drink. Now, Dutch treat means when friends go out to have fun, each person pays his or her own share. There are many other expressions related with Dutch in American English. However, most of them were first used in England in the 17th century. At that time, the British and the Dutch were war enemies. So when British people talked about something wrong or bad, they would like to use the word Dutch. A mon expression heard a few years ago was in Dutch. A friend may tell you, “You are in Dutch. The teacher is angry with you. Be careful!” When a soldier took Dutch leave, he left the army without permission. Dutch courage was the false courage produced by the effects of drinking wine. Wouldnt you think that peting at who has better driving abilities is pointless(无意义的)? If you ask me, Id like to say, men know that women are better drivers but do not have the courage to admit the truthwomen are queens of the road.Unlike men, women stop for directions when they have no idea as to where they are going. We dont drive around for hours pointlessly wasting a tank of gas only to find ourselves heading in the wrong direction. Have you ever been in a car with a man who is lost? He tells you to shut up when you begin to open your mouth. And every five minutes or so he takes a turn going forty-five miles per hour only to find out hes made another wrong turn.Speeding is what men do best on the road. Traffic is not a race. There is a reason why men get more speeding tickets than women. Not because we trick to get out of tickets but only because we dont get pulled over as frequently. We dont speed. We have more intelligence than senselessly to put our own lives as well as the lives of others in danger. My largest issue with male drivers is how a majority of them drive with one hand on the wheel and the other hand doing only God knows what. The seat is backed as far as possible, and theyre totally lost into loud music beyond a necessary level. You dont ever see women driving like that.I feel that the above evidence more than proves my points that women are not only better drivers but also safer drivers than men. We women rule the road. Oh, and men, if you want to continue criticizing women for being bad drivers, bring it on. We know you lack confidence, or else you wouldnt be wasting your valuable time making jokes about the ones you may choose to spend the rest of your days with.28. If a woman driver feels lost, she will _. A. tell the man next to her to shut up B. take the wrong turns at a high speed C. stop the car and ask people for help D. drive aimlessly for hours without stopping 29. In Paragraph 3, the writer tries to tell us that _. A. women drivers often play tricks on the police in charge B. men drivers usually have to be pulled over to the roadsides C. men drivers are more confident and skillful in driving D. women drivers have more responsibility for lives 30. According to the passage, men drivers _ worries the writer most. A. not paying full attention B. making jokes about women C. not stopping for directions D. getting more speeding tickets31. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage? A B C D ( =paragraph 1;=paragraph 2;=paragraph 3;=paragraph 4;=paragraph 5)DFood sometimes gets poisoned(中毒)with harmful things. A person who eats such food can get an illness called food poisoning. Food poisoning is usually not serious, but some types are deadly. The symptoms (症状) of food poisoning usually begin within hours of eating the poisoned food. Fever is one of the most mon symptoms. Certain microorganisms (微生物) cause most types of food poisoning. Bacteria and other microorganisms can poison eggs, meat, vegetables, and many other foods. After entering the body, these tiny living things release (释放) poisons that make people sick. Some chemicals(化学制品) can also cause food poisoning. They are often added to food while it is being grown, processed, or prepared. For example, many farmers spray chemicals on crops to kill weeds and insects. Some people may have a bad reaction to those chemicals when they eat the crops. Some plants and animals contain natural poisons that are harmful to people. These include certain kinds of seafood, grains, nuts, seeds, beans, and mushrooms. When people handle food properly, the risk of food poisoning is very small. Microorganisms multiply rapidly in dirty places and in warm temperatures. This means that people should never touch food with ditty hands or put food on unwashed surfaces. Food should be kept in a refrigerator to stop microorganisms from growing. Meat needs to be cooked thoroughly to kill any dangerous microorganisms. People should also wash food covered with chemicals before eating it. Finally, people should not eat wild mushrooms or other foods that grow in the wild. Some of these foods may contain natural materials that are poisonous to humans. In addition, some types of fish can be poisonous. Most people recover from food poisoning after a few days of resting and drinking extra water. If people eat natural poisons, they must go to the hospital right away to have their stomachs emptied.32. Which of the following statements is NOT true?A. When poisoned, food can make people sick B.
