The babies watched a wooden toy with large eyes trying to climb hills and then another toy came by and either helped it over the mountain or pushed it backward. They then were given the toys to see which they would play with. Nearly every baby picked the helpful toy over the bad one.The babies also chose neutral(中立的) toysones that didnt help or push backwardover the naughty ones. And the babies chose the helping toys over the neutral ones.“Its surprising that babies can do this,”said Kiley Hamlin,a Yale researcher.“It shows that we have these basic social skills without much teaching.” There was no difference between the boys and girls, but when the researchers took away the large eyes that made the toys somewhat lifelike, the babies didnt show the same social judging skills. The choice of the nice over the naughty follows a school of thought that humans have some born social abilities, not just those learned from their parents.“We know that theyre very, very social beings from very, very early on,”Hamlin said.A study last year showed that babies as young as 18 months old helped out when they could, such as by picking up toys that researchers dropped.David Lewkowicz,a professor said the Yale research was interesting. But he doesnt buy into the natural ability part.He said the behavior was learned, and that the new research doesnt prove otherwise.“Babies learn a great deal of social experience between birth and 6 months of age.”he said. But the Yale team has other early research that shows similar results even in 3montholds.Researchers also want to know if the behavior is limited to human babies. The Yale team is starting tests with monkeys, but has no results yet.1In the research,“another toy”was used to_.Aact differently as a helping baby or a naughty oneBact as a baby who needed helpCcatch the babys attentionDplay with the baby who was watching2The most preferable order of the babys choice of toys as playmates might be_.AneutralnaughtyhelpfulBnaughtyneutralhelpfulChelpfulnaughtyneutralDhelpfulneutralnaughty3The large eyes were used to make the toys_.Alook like real babies Blook attractiveClook clever Dlook beautiful4According to David Lewkowicz,_.Ababies are born with the ability to choose the nice over the naughtyBthe ability to choose helpful toys is only limited to human babiesCthe choice of the helpful over the naughty is learnedDbabies of 3 months act differently from 6montholds.短文改错(xx东北三校模拟)Yesterday,Li Mei goes to a store to return a shirt without carrying the receipt (收据)When she got there, she refused. The salesman said that he wouldnt take it back if she showed him the receipt.Thinking it was no way out,Li Mei put the shirt back in her bag and left.Suddenly two shop guard stopped her and began to search for her. They found the shirt in the bag and looked at it careful. Many eyes were staring at her, what made Li Mei very embarrassing.Luckily,a salesman came up in time and she was allowed to go. 我们把它们摆放整齐,好吗?out of order“无次序的”;put sth.in order“把按顺序排好”。2解析:选A 。 normal“正常的”;formal “正式的”;ordinary“普通的”;mon“常见的,共有的”。 be proud of意为“以自豪”,of which she is proud为“介词关系代词”引导的定语从句,修饰achievements。4解析:选B。be aimed at表示“目标在于”,此题中programs与aim at之间为被动关系,故选用aimed at; situation表示“情况,局势”,符合语意;case表示“场合,案例”,不符合语意,故答案为B。 react on“对起作用,有影响”;react to“对做出反应”;react with“与发生反应”;react against“反抗,反对”。6解析:选C。考查be supposed to的用法。be supposed to意为“应当,理应”,start的动作还未发生,故选C。 acknowledge “承认”; announce“宣布”;consider“考虑”。8解析:选A。 add.to.往加入;add up to意为“总计为”。 in search of“寻找”;in the form of“以的形式”;in need of“需要”;in the direction of“朝的方向”。 13解析:选A。 15解析:选A。 go ahead“请说吧”;you will make it“你会成功的”;dont mention it“不客气”;take it easy“不要紧张”。 1解析:选A。 根据第三段中的“then another toy came by and either helped it over the mountain or pushed it backward” 可知,A项正确。 3解析:选A。 根据第六段中的“the large eyes that made the toys somewhat lifelike”可知,“大眼睛”的作用是让玩具看上去像真的婴儿。 Yesterday,Li Mei to a store to return a shirt without carrying the receipt (收据)When she got there, she refused. The salesman said that he wouldnt take it back she showed him the receipt.Thinking was no way out,Li Mei put the shirt back in her bag and left.Suddenly two shop stopped her and began to search her. They found the shirt in the bag and looked at it .Many eyes were staring at her, made Li Mei very .Luckily, salesman came up in time and she was allowed to go.
