单选题_ was to return to school. A.That really interested himB.What really interested himC.Which really interested himD.That interest him really【答案】B【解析】【选项释义】A. That really interested him这让他很感兴趣 B. What really interested him让他很感兴趣的是C. Which really interested him哪一个让他很感兴趣 D. That interest him really这让他很感兴趣【答案】B【考查点】主语从句。 2. 问答题【答案】1.【答案】And改为However2.【答案】in being treated as改成 at being treated as3.【答案】inferior than改为inferior to4.【答案】leveled with改为leveled against5.【答案】term改为terms6.【答案】fail改为failing7.【答案】treat加上to8.【答案】giving改为given9.【答案】far much more去掉far10.【答案】before改为after【解析】1.【解题思路】上一句说的是过去的情况,用到了in the past(在过去),这一句用的是today(今天),二者形成对比,要用一个表示转折的逻辑词,并且要用逗号和句子隔开,能单独使用。所以把And改为However。 5.【解题思路】come to terms with是固定搭配,表示“妥协,达成协议”,所以把term改为terms。 3. 单选题Have you seen the handy little _? Its for separating egg yolks from white. 4. 单选题The actor amused the audience by _ some well-known people. 5. 单选题Womens minds work differently from mens. At least, that is what most men are convinced of. Psychologists view the subject either as a matter of frustration or a joke. Now the biologists have moved into this minefield, and some of them have found that there are real differences between the brains of men and women. But being different, they point out hurriedly, is not the same as being better or worse. There is, however, a definite structural variation between the male and female brain. The difference is in a part of the brain that is used in the most complex intellectual processesthe link between the two halves of the brain. The two halves are linked by a trunkline of between 200 and 300 million nerves, the corpus callosum. Scientists have found quite recently that the corpus callosum in women is always larger and probably richer in nerve fibres than it is in men. This is the first time that a structural difference has been found between the brains of women and men and it must have some significance. The question is “What?”, and if this difference exists, are there others? Research shows that present-day women think differently and behave differently from men. Are some of these differences biological and inborn, a result of evolution? We tend to think that is the influence of society that produces these differences. But could we be wrong?Research showed that these two halves of the brain had different functions, and that the corpus callosum enabled them to work together. For most people, the left half is used for word-handling, analytical and logical activities; the right half works on pictures, patterns and forms. We need both halves working together. And the better the connections, the more harmoniously the two halves work. And, according to research findings, women have the better connections. But it isnt all that easy to explain the actual differences between skills of men and women on this basis. In schools throughout the world girls tend to be better than boys at “language subject” and boys better at maths and physics. If these differences correspond with the differences in the hemispheric trunkline, there is an unalterable distinction between the sexes. We shall not know for a while, partly because we dont know of any precise relationship between abilities in school subjects and the functioning of the two halves of the brain, and we cannot understand how the two halves interact via the corpus callosum. But this striking difference must have some effect and, because the difference is in the parts of the brain involved in intellect, we should be looking for differences in intellectual processing.1. Which of the following statements is CORRECT?2. According to the passage it is commonly believed that brain differences are caused by _ factors.3.“these differences” in paragraph 5 refer to those in _.4. At the end of the passage the author proposes more work on _.5. What is the main purpose of the passage? A.Biologists are conducting research where psychologists have given up.B.Brain differences point to superiority of one sex over the other.C.Results of scientific research fail to support popular belief.D.The structural difference in the brain between the sexes has long been known.问题2选项A.biologicalB.psychologicalC.physicalD.social问题3选项A.skills of men and womenB.school subjectsC.the brain structure of men and womenD.activities carried out by the brain问题4选项A.the brain structure as a wholeB.the functioning of part of the brainC.the distinction between the sexesD.the effects of the corpus callosum问题5选项A.To outline the research findings on the brain structure.B.To explain the link between sex and brain structure.C.To discuss the various factors that cause brain differences.D.To suggest new areas in brain research.【答案】第1题:A第2题:D第3题:A第4题:B第5题:A【解析】1.【选项释义】1. Which of the following statements is CORRECT? 1. Biologists are conducting research where psychologists have given up. B. Brain differences point to superiority of one sex over the other. C. Results of scientific research fail to support popular belief. D. The structural difference in the brain between the sexes has long been known. (Now the biologists have moved into this minefield),他们中的一些人已经发现,男性和女性的大脑确实存在差异。” 2. According to the passage it is commonly believed that brain differences are caused by _ factors. 2. 3. “these differences” in paragraph 5 refer to those in _. 3. A. skills of men and women A. C. the brain structure of men and women C. D. activities carried out by the brain D. 大脑进行的活动【答案】A【考查点】词义推测题。 4. At the end of the passage the author proposes more work on _. 4. A. the brain structure as a whole A. 整个大脑结构B. the functioning of part of the brain B. C. the distinction between the sexes C. D. the effects of the corpus callosum D. 但可以明确的是这种大脑之间的差异与智力有关的部分,我们接着应该努力寻找智力处理过程的差异(we should be looking for differences in intellectual processing)。” 5. What is the main purpose of the passage? 5. To outline the research findings on the brain structure. B. To explain the link between sex and brain structure. C. To discuss the various factors that cause brain differences. D. To suggest new areas in brain research. 6. 单选题I tried very hard to restrain ray laughter, but tears started flowing down my cheeks and I began _. 7. 单选题Information is the primary commodity in more and more industries today.By 2005, 83% of American management personnel will be knowledge workers, Europe and Japan are not far behind.By 2005, half of all knowledge worker (22% of the labour force) will choose “flextime, flexplace” arrangements, which allow them to work at home, communication with the office via computer networks. In the United States, the so-called “digital divide” seems to be disappearing. Information technology is expected to have impact on all the following EXCEPT _. 1. A. American management personnel A. 美国管理人员B. American peoples choice of career C. D. traditional practice at work D. 2. “digital divide” in the 4th paragraph refers to _. 2. A. the gap in terms of computer ownership A. 电脑拥有率方面的差距B. the tendency of computer ownership B. C. the dividing line based on digits C. D. the ethnic distinction among American households D. 美国家庭的种族差异【答案】A【考查点】词义推测题。 3. Which of the following statements is INCORRECT according to the passage? 3. By 2005 all college and school study materials will turn electronic. B. By 2005 printed college and school study materials will be supplemented with electronic material. C. By 2005 some college and school study materials will be accompanied by CD-ROMs. D. By 2005 Internet links make worldwide library search a possibility. 4. Which of the following areas is NOT discussed in the passage? 4. Future careers. B. Nature of future work. C. Ethnic differences. D. Schools and libraries. 5. At the end of the passage, the author seems to emphasize _ in an increasingly high-tech world. 5. A. the variety of education A. 教育的多样性B. the content of education B. C. the need for education C. D. the function of education D. Science and technology, though belonging to two different domains, originated from human productive activities. However, with the changes in the division of labor, they began to separate, each developing independently in its own way. The role of science involves the understanding and revelation of natural laws while the progress of technology relies heavily on those who have direct access to the tools of production.9. 单选题In the United States, the _ between the rich and the poor is growing, with the gap widening yearly. 10. 单选题The University in Transformation, edited by Australian futurists Sohail Inayatullah and Jennifer Gidley, presents some 20 highly varied outlooks on tomorrows universities by writers representing both Western and non-Western perspectives. Their essays raise a broad range of issues, questioning nearly every key assumption we have about higher education today. The most widely discussed alternative to the traditional campus is the Internet Universitya voluntary community scholars/teachers physically scattered throughout a country or around the world but all linked in cyberspace.
