Unit 5 Do you have a soccer ball?Section AGood morning ,my dear judge,it is my great honor to have the opportunity to talk about my teaching ideas. Part I Theanalysisoftheteachingmaterial My speech is section A,Unit 5,Do you have a soccer ball. In the pervious two units , we learned the names of these things including “pencil”,“pen”,“book”and their location. In Unit 5, students can review these things in the context again using the structure “Do you have a ?”And in this unit ,it talks about ownership and the simple present tense to has/have. Besides, we will learn Yes / No questions and short answers. Part II Theanalysisofthe students The students in grade 7 have a certain level of English.Their thinking ability of images is strong and they are interested in fresh things ,active in teenage. This lesson is related to our daily life about sports ,therefore,in the teaching progress , I plan to present the contents through some pictures, activities, role playing and so on. It is helpful to strengthen students interest and attention as well as improve their spoken English. Part III Teaching aims l Aims on the knowledge : A. Master the key words, phrases and sentences B. To make the students know how to ask whether others have something or not, and answer it: Do you have? Yes, I do./No, I dont.C. Develop the students listening and speaking skills.l Aims on the abilities :A. To develop the students abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing.B. To train the students abilities of communication. Aims on the emotion : A. To make the students be interested in good co-operation and competition. B. To give the students the opportunity to use the target language in a controlled manner. C. To make the students love sports, love life .Part IV Teaching key points and difficult pointsKey points A. Key vocabularies:tennis , ball , ping-pong , bat, soccer, soccer ball, volleyball, basketball ,let,us,go,we,late,have,has,get .B. Key structures: a. -Do you have a/an? - Yes, I do./No, I dont. - Yes, they have./No, they havent. b. -Does he/she have a/an? -Yes, he/she does. - No, he/she doesnt.Difficult points The difficult point is how to ask whether others have something or not, and answer it , and how to communicate with others. Part V Teaching methods and learning strategiesA.Teaching methods In this lesson, my teaching methods include audio-visual teaching method, communicative teaching method, and task-based teaching methods. Besides, a computer, blackboard, a tape recorder, a projector are needed as the teaching aids. B. Learning strategiesRequire students preview this lesson with self-study. Looking up auxiliary verbs do/does and learn how to use them. And then through cooperative learning , exploring and imitation practice to learn the simple present tense to has/have. Finally, students can master the sentences structure and use them in daily life.Part VI Teaching proceduresStep 1 Warming-upAlthough the content of this lesson is clear and concise, but less of warming-up, we need to guide students get themselves into a progressive English learning.I will ask the students some easy questions to check if they have remembered the contents they had learned before. For example: Can you spell it, please?/ What color is it ?/Is this your pen?/ Is that your backpack and so on. Step 2 Presentation 1. Take out a ping-pong ball and ask the students: Whats this ?/Why I take out a ping-pong ball here ?Because it is the most popular sport in our country, so the students can remember it easily.2. Leading in new words: here I will play some short plays, they are soccer game, volleyball game, ping-pong competition and an advertisement, there is a basketball in it. I think the students can learn the words easily and directly in this way. It can draw the students attention and arouse their interest in learning English. After watching these short plays, I will present these new words in PPT and ask them to read after me.3. Teaching the dialogue:Make a sample dialogue with a student. Show him or her a ping-pong ball and do it like this:T: I have a ping-pong ball. Do you have a ping-pong ball?S: Yes, I do./ No, I dont And the Make the dialogue with more students, and write it on the blackboard. Make sure they can read and understand the meaning.4. Practice:1a: Ask the students match the words with the things in the picture of 1a. 1b: And then ask them listen to the tape and circle the words they heard.ping-pong bat soccer ball volleyball ping-pong ball 1c: Pair works: Practice the conversation with their partner. Then ask andanswer questions about the things in the picture above. A: Do you have a ping-pong bat?B: Yes, I do.A: Do you have a ping-pong ball?B : No, I dont.Read the dialogue by role play. But I must tell them how to do it clearly, let them to ask their partners what kind of balls they have. This time ,they must use the sentence Do you have a ? 5. Group working and competition: Divide the students into groups of three. Give them an example first and finish the exercises of2a, 2b, 2c, 2d: Does have? Yes, he / she does.No, he / she doesnt.Ask them to make a similar dialogue and role-play the conversation below ,tell them that it s also a competition, after they act it out I will choose the best group at the end .A special gift will belongs to the best group. The reason of having a competition: I think it can encourage them to try their best and cooperate with their group members well. Part VII Blackboard design Thats my speaking.
