Therefore, each period should focus on this topic. The first part is vocabulary and speaking, which can help enlarge the students vocabulary and they can learn how to describe some works of art. Reading and vocabulary as the main text of this module, the passage on page33 should be treated as intensive reading. And this period should focus on the students ability to skim and scan. The students should get the general idea of the text first after the skimming, and then be able to find some specific facts of the text after the scanning.教学目标1. Knowledge and skills: 1). To help the students learn the following words in this period: alive , aspect , imitate , (art) movement, observe, ordinary, reality, style2). To arouse the students interest in learning about art.3). To help the students know the general idea and the structure of the passage by the scanning and skimming.2. process and methods:1) To encourage the students to take an active part in the learning activities by describing paintings by great artists.2) To encourage the students to cooperate with others by working in pairs or in groups of four.3) To make sure that the students pay attention to important points by asking them to repeat some of the teachers statement.3. Emotion, attitude and value1) To be able to enjoy and evaluate various paintings and drawings.2. To be able to find the beautiful scenes around us.3). To help the students enlarge the knowledge of art.教学重难点Key points: 1) To help the students learn the key words. 2) To help the students learn to organize their own sentences to describe works of art. 3) To help the students learn to read the passage in a proper way and improve their ability of skimming and scanning.Difficult points: 1) To evaluate some paintings and know how beautiful the world is. 2) To understand and command some words and expressions about art.教具准备The blackboard, the multi-media and a tape recorderTeaching procedures:Step1.Lead in 1) T: Greetings as usual 2) T: Have a dictation (The words in activity1 on page 33)3) T: To appreciate some beautiful paintings and objects, and help students evaluate various paintings and drawings.S: Chinese painting, landscape, watercolor, cartoon and so on. Step2 Introduction T: Ask students to describe the three paintingsS: The first one: a sad/quiet/thoughtful girl; a girl hugging knees The second one: the beautiful/quiet/peaceful countryside, a good place for relaxing The third one: cold winter, water oxen, the desolate sceneryStep3. Reading and vocabulary1) SkimmingT: Read the passage quickly and match the four paintings with the paragraph A-DS: 1-para.D 2-para.A 3-para.B 4-para.B2) ScanningT: Read the paragraph one by one, using different methods to help the students understand the general idea of the passage.S: Answer the questions of each paragraph. (For example, what is the pop art? Pop art was an important modern art movement that aimed to show ordinary twentieth-century city life?)3) T: Read the passage again and fill in the forms.Step3. Homework 1. Try to recite the new words and phrases. 2. Preview the reading passage in detailStep4. Summary This is a lesson of introduction and reading and vocabulary. After learning, students should grasp more vocabulary about arts. Besides, students should know the general idea of the reading passage.Step5.
