On day three.,And God said, Let the land produceseed-bearing plantsand fruit-bearing trees of every kind.,Day 4,God created the sun, moon, and the stars to give light to the earth and to govern and separate the day and the night.,These would also serve as signs to mark seasons, days, and years.,Day 5,God created every living creature of the seas and every winged bird, blessing them to multiply and fill the waters and the sky with life.,Day 6,God created the animals to fill the earth.,On day six, God also created man and woman (,Adam,and,Eve,) in his own image to commune with him.,He blessed them and gave them every creature and the whole earth to rule over, care for, and cultivate.,Day 7,God had finished his work of creation and so he rested on the seventh day, blessing it and making it holy.,This is why Christians go to church on Sundays (some go on Saturday). It is the way of keeping the Sabbath (to show respect to the creator),Sabbath -,Adam the first man,He formed man from the dust of the ground. He breathed life into man and man became a living soul. The first mans name was Adam.,The Garden of Eden,God then created a beautiful garden. It contained every imaginable tree. He placed man in the garden, which he called Eden.,God told man he could eat from any tree within the garden, except for one. This was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The tree of life.,Eve the first woman,God did not think it was good for man to be all alone so he created a helper or companion for man.,He made a deep sleep come over Adam and while Adam was asleep God took a rib from Adams side and created Eve.,Because Eve was made from Adam she is a part of him. They were made from the same.,Adam and Eve,Eve became Adams wife. Together they lived in Eden.,They were created by God with no knowledge of good or evil.,They were naked and were not ashamed.,Temptation and the first sin,One of the animals God created was a serpent (snake) who was very subtle with his actions.,He spoke to the woman and asked her about the tree of life.,He told her “that God did not want them to eat from it because if they did they would become like Gods. They would have all the knowledge of good and evil.”,The woman wanting the knowledge and thinking that the tree was so pretty ate from it.,She also found Adam in the garden and persuaded him to also eat. When they tasted the fruit of the tree their eyes were suddenly opened.,The Fall of Man Original Sin,They now knew good, but also evil.,They saw they were naked and because they now knew evil, they were ashamed so they clothed themselves with fig leaves and hid from God.,God knew what was up.,God wanted to know why he and Eve hid.,Adam answered saying “we were ashamed because we were naked.”,God asked “how did you know you were naked did you eat from the tree which was forbidden?”,Adam spoke and said that Eve had convinced him to eat. Eve told God that the Serpent had tricked her.,God kicked some ass.,Because the snake had tricked Adam and Eve, God cursed the serpent and made it so he would crawl upon his belly and eat dust all of his life.,I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers;he will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.,God then spoke to Eve,I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing;in pain you shall bring forth children, yet your desire shall be for your husband,and he shall rule over you.,To Adam, God said.,Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree about which I commanded you, You shall not eat of it, cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you;and you shall eat the plants of the field.,By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; you are dust, and to dust you shall return.,God removed them from the Garden of Eden.,For the rest of their lives, they.and all humans.must work hard in order to survive because they now know of good and evil.,So Adam and Eve were driven out of Eden. God placed at the east of the garden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.,Some morals from the story.,The Garden of Eden story is about personal responsibility,God gave Adam EVERYTHING on the condition that he not eat of the tree of life,Adam and Eve both blamed someone else for their own mistake,God took away the Garden and their lives were difficult,Names of the God of Abraham,Yahweh,Elohim,Jehovah,Allah (Islam),The Father,The Lord (Almighty),The Holy Spirit,Heavenly Father,Christians and Jews often capitalize God as well as any pronoun referring to God.,Do you have faith in Him?,Terms to think about.,Believe - to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so,Faith - belief that is not based on proof,To know to have actual proof,Sin to fall short of the grace of God.to disobey his word,Grace,A manifestation of favor, especially by a superior,Synonyms: forgiveness, charity, mercifulness.,Antonyms: animosity, enmity, disfavor.,fall from grace,Theology. to relapse into sin or disfavor.,to lose favor; be discredited: He fell from grace when the boss found out he had lied.,For Next Week.,Go to:, “Exodus”,Then, select “The Ten Commandments”,We will talk about the commandments next week,
