In order to help young people use the Internet in a good way, a textbook on good Internet behavior has started to be used in some Shanghai middle schools this term. The book uses real examples to teach students all about good ways of using the Internet. The book gives useful advice such as “its good to read news or find helpful information to study”. Some students also make online friends. But if you are meeting a friend offline, make sure your parents know. Teachers and parents all think the book is of great help. A survey of 120 students at St. Lawrence University found that students who have never pulled an all-nighter have higher grades than those who have. The survey found those who did not study through the night had a grade point of 3.2 pared to 2.95 for those who have. The study, by assistant professor of psychology Pamela Thacher, is to be included in the January issue of Behavioral Sleep Medicine. Its not a big difference, but its pretty striking, Thacher said. I am primarily a sleep researcher and I know nobody thinks clearly at 4 in the morning. You think you do, but you cant. Many college students, of course, have not enough or regular sleep, for reasons ranging from too much caffeine (咖啡因) to poor time management. A lot of students thought all-nighters were a very useful tool for acplishing work, that caffeine intake was very useful in meeting deadlines and stuff like that, said Mr Chatani, who had a 3.4 grade point last term. Dr Howard Weiss, a physician at St. Peters Sleep Center in Albany, said the study results make sense. Certainly that data is out there showing that short sleep time absolutely influences concentration, influences performance on objective testing, he said. Some night owls do get good grades, of course, which may be explained by circadian rhythms (生理节奏), Weiss said. Some people have different 24-hour body clocks than others, and may do better depending on class and testing times, Weiss said.32. The purpose of the passage is to tell us _.A.all-nighters hurt students gradesB.Thachers doubt about all-nightersC.the bad effects of pulling an all-nighterD.pulling an all-nighter leads to sleep problems33.According to Thachars study, around 4 oclock in the morning is a time when _.A.one can think more clearly B.one has his/her best memoryC.one cant learn well D.ones brain is more active34.Which of the following is true?A.Not all night owls get bad grades.B.Short sleep has nothing to do with concentration.C.Caffeine intake is a useful way to acplish work.D.Chatani is a student who benefits from pulling all-nighters.35.An all-nighter in the passage refers to _.A.a drink to keep people awake all nightB.a habit of acplishing work at nightC.a person who falls into the habit of working at nightD.a way to improve ones grades by staying up late第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10 分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Tips to Bring Your Family Closer Together I can remember being a child and ever day we would have dinner with my grandparents. 36_.
