Im not going to say luck, talent, and circumstances dont e into play because they do. Some people are born into the right family while others are born with great intelligence, and thats just the reality of how life is. However, to succeed in life, one first needs to set a goal and then gradually make it more practical. And, in addition to that, in order to be really good at something, one needs to spend at least 10,000 hours studying and practicing. To bee great at certain things, itll require even more time, time that most people wont put in. This is a big reason why many successful people advise you to do something you love. If you dont enjoy what you do, it is going to feel like unbearable pain and will likely make you quite well before you ever bee good at it. When you see people exhibiting some great skills or having achieved great success, you know that they have put in a huge part of their life to get there at a huge cost. Its sometimes easy to think they were lucky or were born with some rare talent, but thinking that way does you no good, and theres a huge chance that youre wrong anyway. Whatever you do, if you want to bee great at it, you need to work day in and day out, almost to the point of addiction, and over a long period of time. If youre not willing to put in the time and work, dont expect to receive any rewards. Consistent, hard work wont guarantee you the level of success you may want, but it will guarantee that you will bee really good at whatever it is you put all that work into.24. Paragraph 1 mainly talks about _. A. the reasons for success B. the meaning of success C. the standards of success D. the importance of success 25. Successful people suggest doing what one loves because _. A. work makes one feel pain B. one tends to enjoy his work C. one gives up his work easily D. it takes a lot of time to succeed 26. What can we infer from Paragraph 4? A. Its natural for successful people to show their skills.B. Success is from hard work not from luck or talent. C. People need to achieve success at the cost of life. D. It helps to think that luck or talent leads to success.27. What is the main theme of the passage? A. Having a goal is vital to success. B. Being good is different from being great. C. One cannot succeed without time and practice. D. Luck, talent and family help to achieve success.CI decided a few months ago that I was going to treat myself to a 4-day getaway from Los Angeles and visit Chicago. I got a free airplane ticket, but had to pay the hotel in cash, which I really couldnt afford. I found a travel website where a discounted 3-night stay was purchased from a recently opened hotel. About three weeks before the trip, I had to regretfully cancel and only then realized the room, while transferable (可转手的) to another person, couldnt be changed to a later date and wasnt refundable. For the next two weeks I tried selling it on Craigs list with no success. Five days before the big weekend, I gave up trying to get any money back and decided Id contact some acquaintances who live in Chicago and offer someone a free stay. After trying a handful of people all of whom already had their own plans, I was determined to have the room not go to waste. Thats when it suddenly occurred to me that I was looking at the room in the wrong way. Instead of viewing it for vacation purposes, surely there must be a way to put it to good use, and that was the idea that some sort of shelter might be able to use it. I eventually found one whose focus is aiding victims of domestic violence. This particular one was willing to listen to my out-of-left-field story and made it easier to transfer the room. The shelter was working with a desperate woman and her daughter, who were fortunately able to make use of the room. I was later told by the shelter they had a blast. 28.We can learn from paragraph 1 that the author_. A. he may have lost his wayB. he had done something wrongC. he made a mistake about the roomD. he should change the way of thinking31. What did the author finally do with the room? A. He gave it up.B. He sold it to a shelter. C. He donated it to needy strangers. D. He put it off to a later use. DA global climate agreement has been finalized in Paris.
