AIf you have the opportunity to visit some places in New Zealand, then the list below is our remendation.Fiordland National ParkThis park is part of the South Westland World Heritage Area and is New Zealands largest national park and one of the largest in the world. The scenery in Fiordland is nothing short of extremely beautiful, with steep mountains, wild waterfalls, and abundant rain forests. Being able to e back and forth in its deep bay attracts most of the visitors. The area has some of the worlds greatest walks including the world famous Milford Track, which was described as the finest walk in the world in the early twentieth century.Abel Tasman National ParkAbel Tasman may be New Zealands smallest national park, but the attractions are huge. Located in one of New Zealands sunniest spots, the area also has the best beaches in the country. The popular Abel Tasman Walk is a great way to see this park. It takes 35 days to plete. Sea taxis are also available and can drop you off at any number of beaches within the park.RotoruaAccessible from New Zealands biggest city, Auckland, Rotorua is famous for its volcanic activities. Rotorua is also famous for its plentiful lakes which are great for swimming and fishing. The surrounding area contains plenty of native bushes and some famous walks.Rotorua is also the best area in the country to experience and learn about Maori culture.Mt Cook National ParkMt Cook as well as the surrounding area is an alpine(高山的) park within the World Heritage listed in South Westland. The biggest peaks in all of Australasia are here. The park doesnt contain many trees or plants due to the altitude. Walks range from a twohour walk to difficult tracks suitable for experienced mountaineers only.A helicopter or plane ride gives visitors excellent views of the mountains with the option of landing at the top of Tasman Glacier, a true permanent snowcovered alpine environment. 1The most impressive experience in Fiordland National Park may be Arock climbsBforest campsCwater jumpsDboat tripsD解析:推理判断题。 2If you are interested in folk customs, you can go to visit AFiordland National ParkBRotoruaCMt Cook National ParkDAbel Tasman National ParkB解析:细节理解题。 3If you go to visit Mt Cook National Park, you can Aview some amazing waterfallsBenjoy some tropical fruitsCstep on the top of Tasman GlacierDtake walks in various bushesC解析:细节理解题。 BI told my friend Graham that I often cycle two miles from my house to the town centre but unfortunately there is a big hill on the route. He replied, “You mean fortunately.” He explained that I should be glad of the extra exercise that the hill provided. My attitude to the hill has now changed. I used to plain as I approached it but now I tell myself the following. This hill will exercise my heart and lungs. It will help me to lose weight and get fit. It will mean that I live longer. This hill is my friend. Finally I fort myself with the thought of all those silly people who pay money to go to a gym and sit on stationary exercise bicycles when I can get the same value for free. I have a smile of satisfaction as I reach the top of the hill.Problems are there to be faced and overe. We cannot achieve anything with an easy life. Helen Keller was the first deaf and blind person to gain a university degree. Her activism and writing proved inspirational. She wrote, “The character cannot be developed with ease. Only through experiences of suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.”One of the main determinants of success in life is our attitude towards adversity. From time to time we all face hardships, problems, accidents and difficulties. Some are of our making but many are no fault of our own. While we cannot choose adversity, we can choose our attitude towards it.Douglas Bader was 21 when in 1931 he had both legs cut off following a flying accident. He was determined to fly again and went on to bee one of the leading flying aviators in the Battle of Britain with 22 aerial victories over the Germans. He was an inspiration to others during the war. He said, “Dont listen to anyone who tells you that you cant do this or that. Thats nonsense. Make up your mind, and youll never use crutches or a stick, and then have a go at everything. Go to school, and join in all the games you can. Go anywhere you want to. But never, never let them persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible.”The biographies of great people are full of examples of how they took steps to overe the difficulties they faced. The mon thread(思路) is that they did not bee depressed. They chose their attitude. They chose to be positive. They took on the challenge. They won. Nevertheless, there is still the problem of how you change your attitude towards adversity.【解题导语】本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。“我”骑自行车去镇中心时要经过山地,“我”经历了从开始的抱怨到将山地当作锻炼契机的过程。人生之旅也是如此,我们要有战胜生活中的艰难的勇气。4Which of the following is true according to the author of the passage?AThose who want to achieve success cant expect to live an easy life.BClimbing hills on bicycles is the best way to take exercise.CGoing to a gym is greatly beneficial to peoples health.DPeoples attitude to hardships is the only factor of their success.A解析:推理判断题。 5By quoting what Douglas Bader said, the author intends to tell us “ ”AFailure is the mother of successBA bad workman quarrels with his toolsCNothing is difficult to the man who will tryDIf you risk nothing, you will have nothingC解析:写作意图题。根据第五段Douglas Bader所讲的“Make up your mind, and youll never use crutches or a stick, and then have a go at everything.impossible”可知,Douglas Bader认为面对困难应当勇敢尝试,不要听信别人所言的太困难或不可能,没有什么克服不了的困难;据此可以判断,作者引用Douglas Bader的话旨在说明,对于勇于尝试的人来说,世界上没有克服不了的困难。 6Following this passage, the author will further talk about Ahow his friend helped him to change his attitude towards the challenge he facedBwhy it is important to keep optimistic in the face of trouble Cwhat steps to take to change your attitude towards the difficulties you faceDwhat great people have in monC解析:推理判断题。 7Which of the following can best function as the title of the passage?ADifferent Attitudes Towards MisfortuneBFace Difficulties with a SmileCNothing is ImpossibleDLife is Full of AdversityB解析:标题归纳题。 CWhenever something looks interesting or beautiful, there is a natural desire of us to capture(捕捉) and preserve itwhich means, in this day and age, that we are likely to reach for our phones to take a picture.Though this would seem to be an ideal solution, there are two big problems associated with taking pictures. Firstly, we are likely to be so busy taking pictures that we forget to look at the world whose beauty and interest encourage us to take a photograph in the first place. And secondly, because we feel the pictures are safely stored on our phones, we never get around to looking at them, so sure are we that well get around to them one day.The first person to notice the problems was the English art critic(评论家), John Ruskin. He was a keen traveler who realized that most tourists make a poor job of noticing or remembering the beautiful things they see. He argued that humans have a natural tendency to respond to beauty and desire to have it, but there are better and worse expressions of this desire. At worst, we get into buying souvenirs or taking photographs. But, in Ruskins eyes, theres just one thing we should doattempting to draw the interesting things we see, regardless of whether we happen to have any talent for doing so.Ruskin said, “Drawing can teach us to see: to notice properly rather than gaze absentmindedly. In the process of recreating with our own hands what lies before our eyes, we naturally move from a position of observing beauty in a loose way to one where we acquire a deep understanding of its parts.”Ruskin deplored the blindness and hurry of modern tourists, especially those who prided themselves on traveling around the whole Europe in a week by train, “No changing of places at a hundred miles an hour will make us stronger, happier, or wiser. There was always more in the world than men could see, if they ever walked slowly. The really precious things are thoughts and sights, not pace.”【解题导语】本文主要讨论了旅游中如何享受美景以及游客普遍存在的问题。8According to Paragraph 2, when taking pictures, people tend to Aforget to appreciate something attractive on the spotBfind it hard to learn skills of taking good picturesCfind a good way to keep things in their mindsDhave a chance to meet the challenge of new technologyA解析:细节理解题。 9According to Ruskin, what should travelers do to best express their appreciation of and desire for something beautiful?ATo speak it out openly.BTo photograph it instantly.CTo purchase it immediately.DTo paint it directly.D解析:细节理解题。 10From the fourth paragraph, we can infer that Ruskin encourages us to be Aconsiderate and determinedBactive and adventurousCcreative and thoughtfulDsensitive and ambitiousC解析:推理判断题。根据第四段的“In the process of recreating with our own hands . we acquire a deep understanding of its parts.” 11The underlined word “deplored” in the last paragraph is closest in meaning to “ ”Aappreciated BcriticizedCfavored DignoredB解析:词义猜测题。根据最后一段的“the blindness and hurry of modern tourists”并结合Ruskin的主张可推知,deplore意为“批判,不赞成”,故选B。D(xx甘肃重点中学协作体联考)In ancient Egypt, the pharaoh(法老) treated the message runner like a prince when he arrived at the palace, if he brought good news. However, if the exhausted runner had the misfortune to bring the pharaoh unhappy news, his head was cut off.Shades of that spirit spread over todays conversations. Once a friend and I packed up some peanut butter and sandwiches for an outing. As we walked lightheartedly out of the door, picnic basket in hand, a smiling neighbor looked up at the sky and said, “Oh boy, a bad day for a picnic. The weatherman says its going to rain.” I wanted to strike him on the face with the peanut butter and sandwiches. Not for his stupid weather report, but for his smile.Several months ago I was racing to catch a bus. As I breathlessly put my handful of cash across the Greyhound counter, the sales agent said with a broad smile, “Oh, that bus left five minutes ago.” Dreams of headcutting! Its not the news that makes someone angry. Its the unsympathetic attitude with which its delivered(传递). Everyone must give bad news from time to time, and big winners do it with the proper attitude. A doctor advising his patient that she needs an operation does it in a caring way. A boss informing an employee he fails to get the job takes on a sympathetic tone. Big winners know, when delivering any bad news, they should share the feeling of the receiver.Unfortunately, many people are not aware of this. When youre tired from a long flight, has a hotel clerk cheerfully said that your room isnt ready yet? When you had your heart set on the toasted beef, has your waiter merrily told you that he just served the last piece? It makes you as a traveler or diner want to land your fist right on their unsympathetic faces.Had my neighbor told me of the uping rainstorm with sympathy, I would have appreciated his warning. Had the Greyhound salesclerk sympathetically informed me that my bus had already left, I probably would have said, “Oh,thats all right. Ill catch the next one.” Big winners, when they bear bad news, deliver bombs with the emotion the bombarded(被轰炸的) person is sure to have.【解题导语】本文主要讲述当我们要告诉别人不好的消息的时候,要注意说话的方式和语气,还要带有同情心。12From “Dreams of headcutting!”(Paragraph 3), we learn that the writer Awas reminded of the cruel pharaohBwas mad at the sales agentCwished that the sales agent would have bad dreamsDdreamed of cutting the sales agents head that nightB解析:推理判断题。 13Which of the following is true?AThe author really appreciated the neighbors warning.BFrom the passage we know that it is the bad news that makes someone angry.CIf the runner brought to the pharaoh unhappy news, he would be treated like a prince.DWhen we want to deliver any bad news, we should share the feeling of the receiver.D解析:推理判断题。根据第四段中的“Big winners know, when delivering any bad news, they should share the feeling of the receiver.” 14What is the main idea of the text?AReceiving bad news requires great courage.BHelping others sincerely is the key to business success.CDelivering bad news with sympathy is important in munication.DLearning ancient traditions can be useful.C解析:主旨大意题。 15In the writers opinion, his neighbor was Anot helpfulBnot considerateCfriendlyDwarmheartedB解析:推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“Had my neighbor told me of the uping rainstorm with sympathy, I would have appreciated his warning.” 七选五(xx重庆调研检测)How to Exercise Every Week ConsistentlyIn my experience people, especially me, do not work out consistently for two reasons:time and method.TimeThree weeks ago I was finding every excuse in the book to justify why I did not have a chance to exercise.
