111Period 4Pronunciation; Writing; Task 整体设计教材分析The contents of this period are Pronunciation; Writing and Task. In the first part of this period students will practice their intonation in exclamations. Then read the passage and find the plot, characters, opinion and the setting of the film. Next, write a review of a film according to the passage students have just read. After putting down the information about the film, students should give their opinions about the film. In the last part of this period, the students are required to write a film page for a magazine. In this period, there will be more group activities, so teachers should encourage students to take part in group work actively and make sure the work can be carried on smoothly. 三维目标1. 知识与技能1)To train students writing skills2)To train students listening and speaking skills2. 过程与方法1)Encourage students to speak in class through organizing some practice.2)Teach students to write following an example.3)Individual/pair/group/class work, reporting, reading, discussing & writing.3. 情感与价值Through the study of this part not only will students learn some tips for writing a film review, but also they will learn some intonations in exclamations. 教学重点1. How to write a film page for a magazine. 教学过程Step 1 Revision1. Greet students as usual.2. Check up their homework.3. Have a dictation of the new words they have learned. Step 2 Pronunciation1. Play the tape for students to listen to and follow.Listen to the exclamations. Does the intonation go up or down at the end of the word or phrase? Let students read through the exclamations first.Play the recording for them to just listen to and follow.Play the recording again for them to decide the answers: they can check with a partner.Play the recording again for them to check.Collect the answers from the whole class, having the students “perform” their answers.Tapescript: 1 Sure!2 Really!3 I see!4 Good for you! 5 Absolutely!Suggested answers:1 down2 up3 down4 down5 down2. ExtensionPut them into pairs to practice these expressions, helping each other with their intonation.Ask them to do the dialogues in Everyday English on page 57 in pairs, then change roles. Step 3 Writing1. Read the text on page 52, and answer the questions.Show the following on the screen.1 Which paragraph tells you about the plot (the story)? 2 Which paragraph tells you about the characters in the film? 3 Which paragraph gives the writers final opinion? 4 Which paragraph tells you about the setting of the film (Where and when the film takes place)? Put them into groups of four, and suggest that they first decide what they are going to have on the page. Then decide up the work between them so that they each do a different part.4. Students can get them on the magazine, books, newspapers, Internet, and so on. When use the Internet, students should learn how to search useful information quickly. Baidu and Google are both very powerful search engineers. 备课资料Intonation语调语调(intonation)是一句话里声调(pitch)高低抑扬轻重的配制和变化。英语有五种基本语调: 升调()、降调()、升降调()、降升调()以及平调()。一句话除了词汇意义(lexical meaning)还有语调意义(intonation meaning)。所谓词汇意义就是话中所用词的意义,而语调意义就是说话人用语调所表示的态度或口气。一句话的词汇意义加上语调意义才算是完全的意义。同样的句子,语调不同,意思就会不同,请看下例: A: Jean,can you bring me the newspaper? B: Sorry? ()Jean用升调说“Sorry”,其意思是“I didnt hear you. Could you say that again,please? ”A: Jean,can you bring me the newspaper? B: Sorry. ()在第二段对话中,Jean用降调说“Sorry”,显然其意思是拒绝帮助或无能为力。英语主要有三种语调,分别是升调、降调和降升调。1. 升调一般表示“不确定” “话还没有说完”或者“礼貌” 。经常用于下面几类句型中: 1)一般疑问句(Yes-no questions)Is he coming tonight? Have you got the tickets? 2)反问句(Statements intended as questions)You are definitely coming? You like it? 3)表示安慰或鼓励(Statements intended to be soothing or encouraging. )Come with us.4)重复(Repetition questions)When did you come? 2. 说话时用“降调”,常常给人一种“完结”的印象。所以能使用降调的句子有以下几类: 1)陈述句(Ordinary statements)You came on Tuesday. Id like some tea.2)特殊疑问句(Wh-questions)When did you come? Whats the time? 3)带命令口吻的祈使句(Imperative sentencesstrong commands)Put it over there!Go and find it!4)感叹句(Exclamatory sentences)What an awful film that was!3. 如果要表示出“说话人改变主意,或话外有话之意”,就可以用“降升调”。它主要出现在下面的句式中: 1)含有对比的陈述句(Statements where contrast is implied. )You can come on Tuesday but not Monday.He doesnt want it but his brother may.2)含保留意见的陈述句(Statements which imply reservation. )I know his face.I like the colour of your dress.3)否认或矛盾(Statements which show disagreement or contradiction)I cant do it.You can.She arrived on Monday.On Tuesday.4)警告(Warning. )Be careful.Dont be late.111
