Then discuss in groups and use the same way to solve the following sentences.巧用数学思维解定语从句【定义】定语从句是指在复合句中修饰或限制某一名词或代词的从句。 【推论1】被修饰或限制的名词或代词通常被称为“先行词”。 【推论2】引导定语从句的词通常被称为“关系词”。“关系词”依其在定语从句中(不是主句)的功能,又分为“关系代词” 和“关系副词”两种。 【推论3】“关系词”具有三种功能:(1)引导一个定语从句(在从句开头);(2)指代或替代“先行词”;(3)在定语从句中充当成分。 【应用】Rewrite the two sentences, using the Attributive Clause. 【例1】The girl comes from America. My uncle used to work there. 【解析】如何把两个简单句合并成一个含有定语从句的复合句呢?巧妙运用数学思想来解决这一类题目,达到了化难为易的效果。总体解题思路为:分析 替换 移项 检验。 1、【分析】观察所给的两个简单句,首先确定共同所指(即“先行词”),其次确定主从句。 【例1】The girl comes from America.(主句) I spoke to her just now.(从句) 【例2】The factory makes colour TV sets. (主句) My uncle used to work there. (从句) 2、【替换】首先根据被替代词的属性以及其在从句中充当的成分,选择适当的“关系词”来替换从句中与主句所指相同的词。其次“合并同类项”,即注意“关系词”不能与被替代词同时出现。 【例1】The girl comes from America.(主句) I spoke to her just now.(从句) whom 【例2】The factory makes colour TV sets. (主句) My uncle used to work there . (从句) where 3、【移项】首先确保“关系词”移到定语从句之首,其次确保定语从句部分移到“先行词”之后。 【例1】The girl comes from America.(主句) whom I spoke to just now.(从句)/ to whom I spoke just now.(从句) 【例2】The factory makes colour TV sets. (主句) where my uncle used to work. (从句) 4、【检验】重点检查“关系词”使用是否准确,被替代词是否省略,句子是否杂糅,是否有必要使用非限制性定语从句等方面。 【错解】The girl whom / who I spoke to her just now comes from America.
