专题06where引导的定语从句【理论回顾】一、 where引导定语从句 where可以引导_，也可以引导_。where的指示对象是表示_的名词，在从句中作_。二、 where 引导定语从句的几种情况1. 先行词常常是表示地点的名词，并且在从句中作地点状语例1：Stephen hawking believes that the earth is unlikely to be the only planet _ life has developed gradually. A. that B. where C. which D. whose 点评：先行词为planet，表示地点，从句中的动词develop为不及物动词,从句不缺少成分，故排除选项中的关系代词that, which, whose，选择where在从句中作状语。 例2 ：Some pre-school children go to a day-care center, _ they learn simple games and songs. A. then B. there C. while D. where 2. 一些抽象意义的模糊地点名词作先行词时，用where引导定语从句。这些抽象概念的单词常有：case（情况）/ condition(状况)/ point（阶段）/ position（处境）/ situation（情形）/ occasion(场合) / circumstances（境况）/ scene（情景，场面）等。例1：Remember that the best relationship is one where your love for each other is greater than your need for each other. 句意：请记住，最深的感情关系表现为彼此间的爱超过彼此间的需要。 点评：这里where引导的定语从句修饰先行词one，也就是relationship (此处one指代的是relationship)。relationship不是地点名词，但此处却用了where来引导，where在这里表示“在这样的感情关系下”。从定语从句的结构来看，定语从句不缺主语和宾语，引导词where在从句中充当的是状语。例2：Cheating is most likely in situations _ the vital interests are high and the chances of getting caught are low. 例3：Until such time as mankind has the sense to lower its population to the point _ the planet can provide a comfortable support for all, people will have to accept more “unnatural food”.3. 定语从句中关系副词where可以与“介词+which”形式互换当先行词表示地点，定语从句中缺少地点状语时，通常用关系副词where引导，此时也可选用表示地点的介词which来代替关系副词where. 例如：例1：I visited the village where many children couldnt go to school because of poverty.I visited the village in which many children couldnt go to school because of poverty.例2：July and August are the months when the weather is hot. _例3：Do you remember the place where we had lunch? _【想一想】在哪些情况下，关系副词不能与“介词+which”互换呢？【练一练】一、句型转换1.
