Unit9 When was he born?Good morning , Mrs . Wang and my dear classmates ,Its my pleasure to have the chance to give my teaching design . Now Ill talk about Teaching Design Unit 9 section A in Grade 8 book 2 . Unit 9 When was he born? Ill prepare to say this lesson from four parts. Part One : Analysis of the Teaching Material() Status and FunctionThis is one of the important lessons in the book.Such a topic is related to famous singers and athletes resume, it is helpful to raise learning interests of students .It can help students toimprove “four skills”: listening, speaking, reading and writing.Therefore this lesson is very important in the teaching material.() Analysis of the studentsAccording to the personal traits of junior high school students, they like to talk about famous people, however, they have not know how to express his /her ideas in English so far. ()Teaching Aims 1. Knowledge ObjectivesSs should be able to know the meaning of those phrases: (be born in/on, world record, start doing sth , stop doing sth) and use them to make sentences. Ss should be able to learn the sentence structure of the past tense of special questions.2. Ability objectsSs should be able to improve their abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing.Ss should be able to train how to use those new words to talk about the biographical notes of famous people and their own resumes. 3. Moral objectives: By understanding famous peoples personal experience, Ss should be able to develop their striving spirit.Ss should be able to know about more interesting information and widen breadth of vision. How long did he?u To learn the sentence structure of the past tense special questions()Teaching EquipmentPictures, Multi-media, Power point , Chalk and so onPart Two :The Teaching MethodsAs we all know, the main instructional aims of learning English in the junior high school is to cultivate students abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson, Ill mainly use“Communicative” teaching method, “Audio-visual” teaching method and“Task-based” teaching method.1. Communicative teaching method2. Task-based” teaching methodTo use two methods are helpful to develop the students abilities.Part Three: Teaching ProceduresStep:Warming UpFirst, teacher asks Ss a question “what is your favourite athlete?” Ss can give their answers. Then lead to draw students attention to showing one picture (Liu Xiang ) .At the same time, give the persons resume (in Chinese),and list some new words and phrases on the blackboard, Teacher leads Ss to use these to make sentences.Step : Group WorkFour Ss one group ,T will give each group one picture and one resume. SS should be able to use those phrases to talk about the famous athletes resume .each group should elect one person to represent their group to share the ideas. T will check two groups.Step: Grammar FocusFirst, Id like to ask you some questions. Whos this ? Students : This is liu Xiang . Teacher : what does he do ? Students : He is a Chinese runner . Ask the class: “ When was he born?” Students: “He was born in 1990.” Teacher: “OK. Thats what we are going to learn today. When was he born?” Using the inductive method to conclude the rules of the past tense of special questions一般句型: wh-word + did (was/were)+S ( 特殊疑问词加一般疑问句语序 )Eg: when was he born?He was born in 1895.How long did he hiccup?He hiccupped for 69 years and 5 months.When did he start hiccupping?He started hiccupping in 1922.Step :Homework1 Ask Ss to write a passage about their own resume at least fifty words , Ss had better use the sentences structure that we had learnt this class. 2 Ss should recite those phrases and words. We will have a check next class.Part four: Blackboard design Key words wrote on the left part; grammar on the middle ; model sentences on the right.
