Under his jacket, Vincenzo Perugia was carrying Mona Lisa, one of the most famous paintings in the world. And he was stealing it!It sounds difficult to believe, but its a true story. On August 20, 1911, Perugia went into the museum and hid. He waited 15 hours until the next morning. On the day of the crime, the museum was closed for repairs. Perugia walked out into the museum wearing the same kind of clothes as the other repairmen. No one paid attention to him as he walked out the door.Police looked all over the worldRussia, Japan, and Brazil. They even interviewed Perugia, but they let him go! I noticed a car in front of me had a wobbly(不稳定的) wheel. It was clear that the wheel had been changed recently and had not been fixed correctly. On a slow road this would not show much of a problem but I knew a highway was coming soon. There the traffic would move much faster and the driver would be in danger as the wheel could come off at that speed.I was driving a large jeep at the time and the car in front was a small one driven by a young lady on her own. So as I tried to flash(闪) my lights and wave her to pullover, I was worried that she wouldnt pull over on the road side when she found in her mirror a single man chasing(追) her down in a jeep and waving for her to pull over.Thankfully. she trusted more in the good nature of people and pulled over where I could explain the problem. She said the wheel was changed only the night before and that she would pull into the nearest garage(修车间) where the repairman had tools to fix the wheel correctly. My belief is that the act of kindness was hers and not mine. How so? Well, it was she who chose to believe in the possibility that people are good over the belief that bad things would come from being waved over to the side of the road by strangers.I am glad I was able to wave her down in time and so a serious accident might have been avoided. But I am even happier that she believed in a stranger.(1) The writer worried about the lady because .A . she was driving a second-hand carB . a traffic accident might happen to herC . a single man was chasing her downD . she drove faster than any other car(2) Why did the lady pull over on the side road?A . Because she found something wrong.B . Because she thought the road not safe.C . Because the writer shouted at her.D . Because the writer gave her some signs.(3) What would be the best title for the passage?A . Trusting in the Kindness of StrangersB . A Wobbly Wheel of a CarC . A Lady Who Was SavedD . Accident That Didnt Happen15. (17分) Hi Brad,Its good to hear from you again. I find that Im not good at writing compositions. Its hard for me to prepare the form of a composition and organize sentences. Could you tell me how to deal with this problem? I would really appreciate if you offer me some good methods.Best wishes,CindyHi Cindy,A composition is really a story and any story is told to an audience. There is a form for this and it is in three parts. First, tell them(the audience) what you are going to tell them. Then tell them, and finally tell them what you told them. Parts one and three are short and most of the information is in part two. It works like this.Lets say you are asked to write a 200-word composition about your visit to the Great Wall. You would begin with an opening sentence or two saying something like “The Great Wall of China is a national landmark that is famous around the world. I visited it last summer and I want to tell you about it.” That uses about 25 words to tell them what you are going to tell them. The second part would be about 150 words and would contain information about the Great Wall such as how long it is, when it was built, who built it and why, the fact that it is one of the seven wonders of the world and you would talk about how you felt and what you thought when you visited this national treasure. This is telling them. Finally, you would use about another 25 words to say something like “That was my first visit to the Great Wall and it was a very emotional experience to actually touch something so old and famous.每个中国人至少参观长城一次.I plan to go back whenever I can.” Here, you are telling them what you told them in the story and wrapping it all up into a neat package. This formula(惯例)works for both compositions and speeches and I think you will find it helps to organize your thoughts. I hope its helpful. _A. work B. word C. information D. world(3) How I wish to get a letter from you soon! How I wish to _ you soon!(5) Whats the main idea of the passage?
