2019年中考英语阅读理解金享题(3)【能力选练】 A(2019中考日常生活类训练)Zinc(锌) is one of about 20 elements(元素) necessary for good health. It is present in the body in a very small amount, but it makes it possible for important chemical actions to be carried out in cells. Scientists are just beginning to discover how zinc and other elements work. Researchers first studied zinc as a way to speed recovery. Dr. Waltor Powys formerly with the United States Air Force, noted that the laboratory animals recovered faster when some matters were added to their food. One of these matters was zinc. Dr. Powys later tested the zinc treatment on an American airman recovering from medical operations. The airman who received zinc sulphate(硫酸锌) recovered in half of the usual time. Other doctors studied persons who had a number of strange disorders. The doctors learned that all of these problems were caused by lack of zinc in the body. They treated these disorders successfully by giving the patients zinc sulphate. The amount of zinc in the body can be found by examining blood and hair. A lack of this important element is not uncommon among people in both industrial and developing countries. Zinc is found in most high protein(蛋白质) foods such as meat, milk, fish and eggs. Paul thought of course he knew what the boy wanted, but what the boy said surprised him greatly. “I wish,” the boy went on, “that I could be a brother like that.” Paul looked at the boy in surprise, and then he said again, “Would you like to take a ride in my car?” “Oh yes, Id love to,” the boy answered. After a short ride, the boy turned and with his eyes shining, said, “Sir, would you mind driving in front of my house?”Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the boy wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big car. But Paul was wrong again. “Will you stop where those two steps are?” the boy asked. He ran up to the steps. Then in a short while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled(残疾的) brother. Some creative people have invented some special bicycles. Here are three of them.BambikesBambikes are produced in a company in Philippines. They are made of an unusual kind of bamboo and other materials like metal and a local plant. They are very strong. And they are a perfect combination(结合) of the greenest building material and common bicycles. By making bambikes, the company offers jobs to the local people. Besides, it provides money for some students in its community to pay for their study. To continue the production, the company plants more bamboo than it cuts. The heaviest bicycleA German cycling lover, Frank Dose, has recently made the worlds heaviest bicycle with big old wheels and lots of other waste materials. He created it just because of a bet(打赌) he made with his friend. The bicycle weighed 1.08 tons. It broke the world record of its kind in weight. Frank said his bicycle was surprisingly easy to ride although it had a huge size and weighed a lot. He rode it in front of 5,000 people for over 100 meters to prove it.Twisted(变形的) bicyclesTwo brothers in France created a bike that looks strange to ride and twists in the middle. Riders can make tight turns(急转弯). The brothers say the bicycle is hard to ride so it can stop people from stealing it. In fact, it isnt as hard to control as you may think. It takes a day or two to get used to the crazy way of riding. Its amazing. So far, there have been 30 of the bicycle, but they are not for sale yet. 1. Frank built the worlds heaviest bicycle with the materials that his friend bought for him.2. Some students in the community can get money from the bambike company to pay for their study.3. Bambikes are made of a special kind of bamboo and other materials.4. The two brothers rode their bikes in front of some people to show how to use them.5. 30 twisted bicycles were made and sold out.【主旨大意】本文是一篇说明文。 从“The heaviest bicycle”一栏中的第一句“A German cycling lover, Frank Dose, has recently made the worlds heaviest bicycle with big old wheels and lots of other waste materials.” 从“Bambikes”一栏中的第六句“Besides, it provides money for some students in its community to pay for their study.” 从“Twisted(变形的) bicycles”一栏中的最后一句“So far, there have been 30 of the bicycle, but they are not for sale yet.” Is there someone you hate? Well, maybe you dont really hate them. But you get really angry every time you think of them. If you dont let this anger go, it can turn into bitterness (痛苦). Bitterness appears when we cant forgive (原谅) someone who has hurt us or made us angry. Someone might say or do something that hurts us. But instead of controlling the anger, we keep it deep inside. Before long, a bitter feeling begins to grow. We may think were hurting that person by criticizing (指责) him or her often, but were really only hurting ourselves. Bitterness can not only lead to serious health problems such as heart disease, but also hurt our relationships with friends and family members. No one enjoys being around an angry person for very long. If you see bitterness in your life, here are some ways to deal with it. Accept it Instead of trying to deny your anger, make it clear to yourself and accept it. See your anger for what it is and quickly deal with it. Stop making excuses for it You may feel you have a right to be angry. You may think youre right and the other person is wrong. You may even secretly enjoy making the other person look bad. But in the end, bitterness hurts you much more than the other person. The bitterness will hold you back, and the other person will go on with his or her life. Forgive and forget it You probably cant completely put the anger out of your mind. But you can decide to forgive the other person. Forget it and move on. Youll enjoy better health and peace of mind. 51. According to the passage, we might get angry when someone _. A. holds us back B. forgets us C. doesnt like usD. does hurt us52.
