And now, according to scientists, it may even the planets population survive climate change.Researchers from the RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science (CSRS) in Japan found that growing plants in vinegar makes them more resistant to droughts. This could mean that in the future, worries about climate change affecting the worlds supply of food will be much lower. The discovery was made after the researchers studied the Arabidopsis, a plant known for its ability to survive in dry weather. It was found that when the plant was placed in drought-like conditions, it produced a chemical called acetate(醋酸盐)the main ponent of vinegar. After discovering this, the scientists experimented further by adding acetate to the soil of other plants, before they stopped giving them water pletely. After leaving the plants for 14 days, they found that the ones treated with acetate had survived, while the untreated plants had dried up and died. Its hoped that this simple method of survival could soon be used to help farmers in dry countries keep their crops alive. In the experiment, we targeted the staple foods of the worldrice, wheat and maizeand the basic plant of breeding species, rapeseed(油菜籽), Jong Myong Kim, co-author of the study, told Popular Science magazine.Kim also told the magazine hes already been in touch with people all over the world who are interested in trying this simple and cost-effective method out for themselves from flower growing panies to amateur gardeners. Although at this point keeping thirsty plants alive isnt as easy as just pouring vinegar over them, Kim said he and his team are working on making the process as simple as possible. Now we are trying to cooperate with some farmers, and also some panies, to make a method to apply this system, he said. Whether weve been stolen from, lied to, misled, or cheated on, there are different levels of losing trust. Sometimes people simply cant trust anymore. 2 Its understandable, but if youre willing to build trust in a relationship again, we have some steps you can take to get you there. 3 Having confidence in yourself will help you make better choices because you can see what the best oute would be for your well-being. 4 If youve been betrayed, you are the victim of your circumstance. I have announcement to make.To wele our friends the United States, the Student Union going to hold a party on Saturday evening,February 20.As ,the party will be held in the lecture hall of the Main Building. will begin at 7 pm.There will be music, dancing, singing exchange of gifts. Will everyone please bring along a small gift for this purpose? Remember to pack it up,sign your name and a few words of good wishes.Dont miss the party, where I believe we will have a lot of .Everyone is wele.Thats all.Thank you. 此处指代前面的the party,故用It。 I pulled the car into the garage and got out, just like every night for the past 16 years. The difference was that I wouldnt have a job to take in the morning. I used to be a VP in technology for a national bank until it was closed.Id put my heart and soul into my job. Not only did I work long hours, but I was on call 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays. My kids joked that though they were the teenagers, I was the one who was glued to the cell phone and had to be told not to text at the dinner table. My wife, Michelle, went back to work full-time once my job was threatened. But our kids would be going to college our son, TJ, was a high school senior, and the girls, Sarah and Tara, were in ninth grade and I wanted to give them the education and opportunities they deserved. God, if I cant provide for my family, I asked, what good am I?A ray of light streamed through the window, as if beckoning(召唤) me. I opened the door and stepped out into our yard. The lawn, the maple tree planted when I was young and the flower beds were overrun with weeds. They needed pruning (修剪).Treasure this time. The thought came out of nowhere. But clear, clear as it could be. I shook my head. I couldnt get distracted by random thoughts. The clock was ticking. I needed to get busy finding a new job.I went up to the house. Im sorry, Dad, TJ said. I know how much your job meant to you. His concern was mirrored in the girls faces. Then Michelle added, Its going to be okay. Well get through this together. Maybe you should consider this time as a break. You deserve one.A break? Was she kidding? There was no time to rest. If anything, I needed to work even harder. Paragraph 1:The next morning I got up before everyone else and opened my laptop._Paragraph 2:Just a few hours here and there, the new lawn began to take shape and so did I._前文概要:我曾经是一家银行的副总裁,对工作尽心尽力,堪称工作狂,连院子里的草坪和花坛都无暇顾及。 Michelle, our yard, flower beds, a new job等。
