Encourage the students to follow these two aspects:What can we learn in the subject? How do you like the subject? Why?We can learn about how to cook and sew in Home Economics. I like it very much, because I think its useful. Now I can cook healthy and tasty food and I can do a lot of things for myself, too. STEP 2 Naming the subjectsGet the students to name the subjects that they have at school and write the names on the blackboard. Help students expand their active vocabulary about school subjects.Languages: Chinese, French, Russian, English, and Japanese Math, History, Geography, Science, artPE-( PE is the short form for Physical Education) Home Economics , puter studiesArt and Design, Biology, Chemistry, Music PhysicsGet the students to read the words on the blackboard loudly. Draw students attention to the plural form of the words here:1) puter Studies 2) Home EconomicsSTEP 3 Finishing Part A on Page 23Get the students to finish Part A on Page 23. Match pictures with correct subjects.Questions:What will you do in English class?What can you do in Geography class? We can learn about different countries, seas, rivers, etc. of the world. Art - You can draw or paint pictures. Languages-We can learn to speak different languages.History- We learn about the past. puter studies-We can learn to use the puter.PE- We do a lot of physical exercise.Home economics-We can learn to cook and sew. Science-We can learn about the natural world through experiments. (Put it very clearly that Science including Physics and Chemistry etc. )STEP 4 Designing an English Lesson TableEncourage the students to design an English Lesson Table. Let the students work in groups of 4 students and get them to report the lessons they have from Monday to Friday. Write the adjectives the students used on the blackboard in columns. And if necessary, write some of their reasons on the blackboard as well. STEP 6 Finding the opposites of the adjectivesPointing at the adjectives written on the blackboard. Encourage the students to find the opposites of the adjectives. Write them in pairs. important, unimportant; useful, useless; popular, unpopular; easy, difficult; interesting, boringPoint out that two adjectives are introduced, one is using the prefix un- and the other using the suffix -less. Encourage the students to give more examples. happy, unhappy; healthy, unhealthy; careful, careless; fortable, unfortableFor stronger classes, a petition can be organized here to motivate the students to name more opposites. Get the students to read the adjectives on the blackboard and then encouragethem to use these words to talk about the subjects. Do some consolidate exercises as a summary. Some students think history is _ (important), so they dont work hard at it. STEP 7 Homework a. Write about your favorite subject and speak out your reasons. b. Finish off the exercises in the Evaluation Handbook and learning English.
