2019-2020年高考英语阅读理解、完形填空四月自练(5)阅读理解They were just grasshoppers(蚂蚱). But there were millions of them, which was why dad was so anxious to get rid of them. “Theyre totally destroying our beans, ”he told Mom over lunchtime one Saturday. “Ive been trying to keep them out of the tomatoes, but I dont know if I can make it. ”“Isnt there something you can do about them? ”Mom asked. She was mostly concerned about the tomatoes. “I think theres a spray(喷雾)or something, ”Dad said. “Im going down to the garden center after lunch and see if they have any suggestions. ”Im pretty sure thats what he said. But what I heard was, “While Im gone, why dont you and George e up with your own plan for getting rid of the grasshoppers? ”And so thats what we did.
