Each passage is following by several questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. Choose the one that fits best according to the formation given in the passage.ASometimes youll hear people say that you cant love others until you love yourself. Sometimes youll hear people say that you cant expect someone else to love you until you love yourself. Either way, youve got to love yourself first and this can be tricky. Sure we all know that were the apple of our parents eyes, and that our Grandmas think were great talents and our Uncle Roberts think that we will go to the Olympics, but sometimes its a lot harder to think such nice thoughts about ourselves. If you find that believing in yourself is a challenge, it is time you build a positive self-image and learn to love yourself.Self-image is your own minds picture of yourself. This image includes the way you look, the way you act, the way you talk and the way you think. Interestingly, our self-images are often quite different from the images others hold about us. Unfortunately, most of these images are more negative than they should be. Thus changing the way you think about yourself is the key to changing your self-image and your whole world. The best way to defeat a passive self-image is to step back and decide to stress your successes. That is, make a list if you need to, but write down all of the great things you do every day. Dont allow doubts to occur in it.It very well might be that you are experiencing a negative self-image because you cant move past one flaw or weakness that you see about yourself. Well, roll up your sleeves and make a change of it as your primary task. If you think youre silly because you arent good at maths, find a tutor. If you think youre weak because you cant run a mile, get to the track and practice. If you think youre dull because you dont wear the latest trends, buy a few new clothes. But remember, just because you think it doesnt mean its true. The best way to get rid of a negative self-image is to realize that your image is far from objective, and to actively convince yourself of your positive qualities. Changing the way you think and working on those you need to improve will go a long way towards promoting a positive self-image. When you can pat yourself on the back, youll know youre well on your way. Good luck!56You need to build a positive self-image when you _.A. dare to challenge yourselfB. feel it hard to change yourselfC. are unconfident about yourselfD. have a high opinion of yourself57According to the passage, our self-images _.A. have positive effectsB. are probably untrueC. are often changeableD. have different functions58How should you change your self-image according to the passage?A. He leads a team who has studied the problem since the 1980s. Back then, people knew little about what and how well people could smell. Doctors simply lacked a tool to measure peoples scent detection. So Doty developed a smell test, based on 40 different cards. Each card carries a different odor( 气味). A persons score equals the total number of correctly identified scents. The cards allow doctors to measure how many scents people can detect and thus determine whether they lose the sense of smell. Today, this test is used by laboratories around the world. In the project, Dotys team used the cards to test smokers. The test showed that the more cigarettes people smoked, the poorer their ability to identify chocolate, rubber, apple and other scents. In another, Doty tested 99 people who breathed in smoke and dust. He found their sense of smell was generally not as sensitive as that of other people. The study showed certain pollutants can harm our sense of smell. Actually, the major interest for Doty is the link between the sense of smell and Parkinsons disease, which strikes millions of mostly older people worldwide. It causes shaking in patients and makes it difficult for them to walk, talk, eat and smell. So a smell test could help diagnose the disease much sooner than usual. That could give patients access to early treatment. Dotys research team is also working with patients who have begun taking medication for Parkinsons disease. They give smell tests to the patients and scan their brains, using an imaging device called SPECT. “So far, the smell tests are proving to be more sensitive than the brain scans, ”Doty says. The findings suggest it may be possible for doctors to use inexpensive smell tests to diagnose Parkinsons disease even before the disease shows up in far more expensive brain scans. While the research is under preparation, Doty says, it has a bright future.66. The 40 different cards test was developed by Doty in order to_. A. guide the doctors to help the older people better. B. measure peoples ability to identify scents. C. help people know how they could smell better. D. check if older people will lose their sense of smell.67. Two examples are mentioned in the third paragraph to show that_. A. the card test has shifted Dotys attention B. the card test has benefited the doctors a lot C. the card test is widely used all over the worlds. D. the card test brought Dotys team unexpected findings68. According to the passage, what interests Doty most is _. A. how the sense of smell limits peoples behaviors B. how smokers are losing their sense of smell C. how the sense of smell is linked to Parkinsons disease D. how Parkinsons disease makes it difficult to walk69. How does the test help older people who suffer from Parkinsons disease? A. By offering them cheaper medicine B. By giving them access to early treatment C. By diagnosing their disease much more carefully D. By offering them a second chance to scan their brains70. We can infer from the passage that the research is_
