Many petitors pete _ the game _ the gold medal. A. in; for B. for; in C. against; in D. with; for【解析】答案A。 比赛;petitive a. Over one thousand athletes will pete in the race.pete with/ against sb. He will pete with others for a prize.NO2 every four years【课文出处】the Summer and the Winter Olympics and both are held every four years.(p10)【点击名题】A tree was planted along the road _. (Choose the one that is not proper for the blank)A. every ten metres B. every tenth metre C. every other metre D. every the tenth metre 【解析】答案D。 every与数词或few, other连用,表时间或空间的间隔,主要结构如下:1. every + 基数词 + 复数名词,表“每;每隔” every four years(=every fourth year)每四年;每隔三年(注意汉语翻译) every ten meters(=every tenth meter) 每十米;每隔九米 Take the medicine every five hours.2. every + 序数词 + 单数名词, 表“每第” every third year(= every three years)每三年,每隔两年3. every + other +单数可数名词,表“每隔” every other day(=every two days)每两天;每隔一米 every other year(=every two years)每隔一年 每隔一天 every second day; every other day; every two days4. every + few + 复数名词,表“每隔几” every few days每隔几天NO3 admit【课文出处】All countries can take part if their athletes reach the standard to be admitted to the games. Sandy could do nothing but _ to his teacher that he was wrong. (上海xx)A. admit B. admitted C. admitting D. to admit【解析】答案A。can do nothing but要求后面接动词原形but并列前后两个动词原形,表“只有做”,另一表达法have no choice but也表“除了别无选择”,后面须接to do形式。 admit vi.; vt. / that clause. He admitted his crime. He never admits that he is wrong.John has admitted breaking the window. 容纳(admit sb.), 容许(admit of sth.) His illness admits of no delay. This ticket admits two people to the football match.NO4 are to be held【课文出处】because I know that in xx they are to be held in my hometown of Athens. If a man _ succeed, he must work as hard as he can. (上海95,28) A. will B. is to C. is going to C. should【解析】答案B。 因为在状语从句中不能用将来时,所以A、C排除,所以用is to succeed。 be to do的具体用法如下: A. 表计划:When is the wedding to take place? You are to leave here at once. Where am I to put these books? What is to be done next? I t is nowhere to be found. Am I never to see her again? 我注定再也见不到她了吗?【热点语法】被动语态【课文出处】the Summer and the Winter Olympics and both are held every four years.(p10)【点击名题】Visitors _ not to touch the exhibits. (NMETxx) A. will request B. request C. are requesting D. are requested【解析】这句话的意思是:“要求参观者不要触摸展品”,所以要用被动语态。 English is spoken by many people. Hamlet was written by Shakespeare. Several glasses got broken. He became more and more influenced by her action. 含有情态动词的被动结构:can / may/ must/ should/ ought to/ used to + be + takenStep2 Learning about language in page11,12Finish Ex1,2,3 and5.Pay attention to Ex4 about root, including -ing and -er root. (在be worth后面用动名词的一般式表被动意义)Your bike needs (wants; requires) repairing. (在句中三个谓的主形式表被动意义)The wall feels so smooth.(感官动词look, feel, taste, smell, sound主动形式表被动)I have some clothes to wash. This type of TV set sells well. to let(出租),to blame(责备)只用主动形式表被动意义。This flat is to let. Who is to blame for it? 此类形容词easy, hard, difficult, cheap, expensive, fit, nice, good, funny, exciting, light, heavy, dangerous, fortable, delicious等。 The fish is delicious to eat. 2. 一般将来时的被动语态(1)构成基本结构一:shall/will + be + donepromise that this matter will be taken care of next week. We are told that a new car factory would be set up here next year. 基本结构二:be(am / is /are)going to + be + doneThe class are going to be examined on everything they have learnt this year. An exhibition of painting is going to be held at the art museum when he es back from abroad. Well build a new school next year. A new school will be built (by us) next year. My mother will give me a shirt as birthday present. I will be given a shirt (by my mother) as birthday present. My mother will buy me a new coat.被动:A new coat will be bought for me (by my mother).3)主语谓语宾语宾补。 Well ask him to help you tomorrow. He will be asked to help you (by us) tomorrow.
