情态动词用法归纳 情态动词表示说话人对某一动作的观点。如需要、可能、意愿或怀疑等。情态动词本身词义不完全,不能单独作谓语动词,必须和动词原形连用;情态动词没有人称和数的变化。情态动词有can (could),may (might),must,have to,shall (should),will (would),dare (dared),need (needed),ought to等。,Period Four Grammar,1can与could的用法,注意:can与be able to都可以表示能力,在许多情况下可交替使用,但can只有现在时和过去时(could),而be able to则有多种时态。,2may与might的用法,3.shall和should的用法,4.must和have to的用法,5.will和would的用法,6.need和dare的用法,7.ought to 的用法,8.情态动词不定式完成式(have done),注意: would,might,could的大致区别是: would表示结果,might表示可能性,could表示能力、允许或可能性。比较: If you tried again,you would succeed.要是你再试一试,你就会成功的。(would表结果) If you tried again,you might succeed.要是你再试一试,你可能会成功的。(might表可能) If you tried again,you could succeed.要是你再试一试,你就能成功了。(could表能力),用适当的情态动词填空 He_have gone home.I saw him in the classroom just now. This is the best novel that I have ever read. 被修饰词为数词时。例如: Yesterday I caught two fish and put them in a basin of water.Now you can see the two that are still alive.,2,3,4,主句是There be结构,修饰主语的定语从句宜用that作关系代词修饰物。例句: Theres still a room that is free. 先行词中同时包括人和物时。例如: We talked about the people and the villages that we remembered. He asked about the factories and workers that he had visited. 当主句中有who,which时,而定语从句中也要用到who或which时,为了避免who.who,which.which等重叠,定语从句要用that引导。例如:,5,6,7,Who is the man that is standing by the door? Which of the two cows that you keep produces more milk? 人或物在定语从句中作表语时,用that引导定语从句,而that通常也可以省略。例如: He is no longer the man that he was. 引导非限制性定语从句时。例如: Bamboo is hollow,which makes it light. 当关系词前有介词时。例如: This is the room in which Chairman Mao once lived.,8,二、修饰物时只用which不用that的情况,1,2,在一个句子中有两个定语从句,其中一个定语从句的关系代词用了that,另一个宜用which。例如: Let me show you the novel that I borrowed from the library which was newly open to us. 当关系代词后面有插入语时。例如: Here is the English grammar which,as I have told you,will help improve your English. 先行词为that时。例如: The clock is that which can tell us the time. 钟是报时的装置。,3,4,5,
