This kind of loneliness is not serious. In fact, it is quite normal. For some people, though, loneliness can last for years. Now researchers say there are three different types of loneliness. The first kind of loneliness is temporary. This is the most common type. It usually disappears quickly and does not require any special attention. The second kind, situational loneliness, is a natural result of a particular situation for example, family problem, the death of a loved one, or moving to a new place. Although this kind of loneliness can cause physical problems, such as headaches and sleeplessness, it usually does not last for more than a year. The third kind of loneliness is the most severe. Unlike the second type, habitual loneliness usually lasts more than two years and has no specific cause. People who experience habitual loneliness have problems socializing and becoming close to others. Unfortunately, many chronically lonely people think there is little or nothing they can do to improve their condition. Psychologists agree that one important factor in loneliness is a persons social contacts, e.g. friends, family members, co-workers, etc. We depend on various people for different reasons. For instance, our families give us emotional support, our parents and teachers give us guidance, and our friends share similar interests and activities. However, psychologists have found that, though lonely people may have many social contacts, they sometimes feel they should have more. They question their popularity. Psychologists are trying to find ways to help habitually lonely people for two reasons: they are unhappy and unable to socialize and there is a connection between habitual loneliness and serious illness such as heart disease. While temporary and situational loneliness can be a normal, healthy part of life, habitual loneliness can be a sad and sometimes dangerous condition.4. How would you treat temporary loneliness according to the passage?A. Talk to friends. B. Just ignore it.C. Go to see a doctor. D. Single-sex education also made it less likely that boys would feel they had to give in to a stereotype that men should be “masterful and in charge” in relationships“In mixed schools boys feel pressed to act like men before they understand themselves well enough to know what that means.” the study reported. 12The author believes that a single-sex school would A. force boys to hide their emotions to be “real men”B. help to form masculine aggressiveness in boysC. encourage boys to express their emotions more freelyD. naturally place emphasis on the traditional image of a man to boys13It is commonly believed that in a mixed school boys A. perform relatively better B. grow up more healthilyC. behave more responsibly D. receive a better education14What does Tony Little say about the British education system?A. Most of us get really afraid and run away from problems because we dont want to accept reality. Running away from your problems is the worst thing you can do to deal with the challenges you are faced with. Here are some tips for you on learning how to deal with everyday challenges. Please bear in mind that you shouldnt overact when coming across challenges. Overacting to a problem will cause you to make bad decisions. 17 Next time you are faced with a challenge, stay calm so you can make smarter decisions. 18 If you cannot accept reality, you will feel very frustrated with your life. Once you can accept reality, you will be able to be calmer and think more clearly about how to get a step closer towards your goals every day. Many people make a habit of blaming others for all their problems. They fail to take full responsibility for the decisions they have made in life. The more you blame others for the challenges you are faced with, the more you will make people dislike you and not want to be around you. 19 Dont compare your lifestyle with others. Of course, it is really difficult not to compare ourselves with other people. However, the more often we do that, the more frustrated we will feel. 20 The key thing to remember is that you create your own story and success in life.A. Accept the reality of the present moment.B. Try to look at change as a positive challenge, not as a threat.C. There will always be a person that may have accomplished more than you.D. Our focus may entirely be on how we can deal with the challenge that has come our way.E. When we are not in control of our emotions, we will make decisions that we will regret later.F. However, most people have a hard time accepting and dealing with these challenges that arise.G.
