新 四 级 汉 译 英 段 落 翻 译 解 题 技 巧 题型简介基本要求翻译技巧 题型简介 自 2013年 12月 考 次 起 ， 全 国 大 学 英 语 四级 考 试 的 翻 译 部 分 将 由 原 单 句 汉 译 英 调 整文 段 落 汉 译 英 ， 翻 译 内 容 涉 及 中 国 的 历 史 、文 化 、 经 济 、 社 会 发 展 等 题 材 。140160词 基本要求 要 求 考 生 以 词 、 句 的 翻 译 为 基 础 ， 扩 大 到对 整 体 段 落 的 翻 译 的 把 握 ， 段 落 内 容 相 对完 整 、 结 构 相 对 独 立 。 翻 译 时 要 把 整 个 段落 当 作 一 个 有 机 的 语 篇 ， 注 意 各 句 子 之 间的 衔 接 和 段 落 间 的 过 渡 。 翻译技巧 (一 ) 词 的 翻 译(二 ) 句 的 翻 译(三 ) 段 落 翻 译 (一 ) 词的翻译1. 词 义 选 择2. 词 类 转 换3. 词 的 增 补4. 词 的 省 略5. 词 的 替 代 1.词 义 选 择(1)语 境 词 汉 语 有 些 词 语 的 含 义 会 因 语 境 而 发 生 微 妙 的 变化 ， 称 之 为 “ 语 境 词 ” ， 应 紧 密 结 合 上 下 文 译成 相 应 的 词 ， 不 能 按 照 原 词 的 字 面 意 思 来 译 。 原 文 ： 手 机 刷 新 了 人 与 人 的 关 系 。 译 文 ： Cell phone have altered the relationship among people. 分 析 ： “ 刷 新 ” 此 处 实 际 是 指 “ 改 变 ” ， 而 并非 是 我 们 平 常 所 指 的 含 义 ， 因 此 不 宜 译 成refurbish或 renovate， 翻 译 为 alter或 change更恰 当 。 (2) 表 意 模 糊 的 词 原 文 ： 这 所 全 国 重 点 大 学 为 社 会 输 送 了 大 批 的 人 才 。 译 文 ： The national key university has prepared batches of qualified graduates for the society. 分 析 ： “ 输 送 ” 在 句 中 是 一 个 模 糊 笼 统 的 词 ， 具 体 说 来 是指 “ 培 养 出 ” 。 “ 人 才 ” 笼 统 ， 译 为 qualified graduates比较 确 切 。(3) 比 喻 词 汇 汉 语 有 许 多 比 喻 词 汇 ， 表 面 意 义 和 喻 指 含 义 完 全 不 同 ， 英译 时 应 跳 出 机 械 对 应 的 思 维 定 式 ， 动 态 地 译 出 其 潜 在 含 义 。 原 文 ： 老 师 答 应 给 这 几 个 学 生 “ 吃 小 灶 ” 。 译 文 ： The teacher has promised to give these students special tuition. 分 析 ： “ 吃 小 灶 ” 在 这 里 指 的 是 “ 个 别 辅 导 ” 。 2.词类转换(1)动 词 名 词 英 语 动 词 受 到 形 态 变 化 规 则 的 严 格 限 制 ， 大 量 本 应 该 由 动 词 表 达 的 概 念 ， 常 需 借 助 于 名 词 ， 因 为 名 词 不 受 形 态 规 则 的 束 缚 ， 使 用 相 对 灵 活 、 方 便 。 原 文 ： 吃 头 两 个 主 菜 时 ， 也 是 赞 不 绝 口 。 译 文 ： Youll be full of praise while eating the first two main courses. 分 析 ： 英 语 中 有 大 量 抽 象 名 词 表 示 行 为 或 动 作 意 义 advice,agreement,inheritance,knowledge,praise,use等 。 以 上 例 句 借 助 抽 象 名 词 表 达 了 特 定 的 行 为 动 作 ， 译 文 也 显 得 较 为 地 道 。 (2)动 词 介 词 介 词 与 名 词 密 切 相 关 ， 英 语 名 词 的 广 泛 使 用 使 得 介 词 也 频 繁 出 现 ， 而 且 英 语 中 有 些 介 词 本 身 就 是 由 动 词 演 变 来 的 。 汉 译 英 时 ， 有 些 动 词 可 以 用 介 词 来 表 达 。 原 文 ： 人 们 常 用 剪 纸 美 化 环 境 。 译 文 ： People often beautify their homes with paper cuttings.(3)动 词 形 容 词 汉 语 的 一 些 动 词 常 常 用 形 容 词 来 表 达 ， 这 些 形 容 词 通 常 是 与 动 词 同 源 的 词 （ 如 dreamful,doubtful,sympathetic 等 ） ， 这 样 的 译 文 有 时 会 更 地 道 、 标 准 。 原 文 ： 在 明 朝 和 清 朝 时 期 特 别 流 行 。 译 文 ： It was widespread particularly during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. (4) 形 容 词 或 副 词 名 词 由 于 语 法 结 构 的 修 辞 的 需 要 ， 汉 语 的 形 容 词 和 副 词 也 可 以 转 译 成 英 语 的 名 词 。 原 文 :.只 有 这 些 生 灵 自 由 自 在 地 享 受 着 这 个 黄 昏 。 译 文 ： .leaving these living things to enjoy this moment of dusk with full ease and freedom.(5) 名 词 动 词 汉 语 的 名 词 由 英 语 的 动 词 表 达 ， 此 时 汉 语 中 修 饰 名 词 的 形 容 词 也 随 之 改 为 英 语 中 作 状 语 使 用 的 副 词 。 原 文 ： 大 自 然 对 人 的 恩 赐 ， 无 论 贫 富 ， 一 律 平 等 。 译 文 ： People, poor or rich, are equally favored by Nature. （ 3.词的增补(1)语 法 需 要 由 于 汉 英 两 种 语 言 的 差 异 ， 汉 译 英 时 往 往 需 要 补 充 汉 语 里省 去 的 词 语 或 没 有 的 词 类 ， 使 译 文 符 合 英 语 语 法 的 要 求 。增 补 的 词 多 为 冠 词 （ 英 语 所 特 有 ） 、 代 词 或 名 词 （ 充 当 句子 的 主 语 、 宾 语 、 定 语 等 成 分 ） 、 连 词 和 介 词 等 。 原 文 ： 农 业 社 会 的 人 比 工 业 社 会 的 人 享 受 差 得 多 ， 因 此 欲望 也 小 得 多 。 译 文 ： People in the agriculture society enjoyed far less than people in the industry society, thus their desires are far less either. 分 析 ： 英 语 中 用 的 最 多 的 介 词 有 at, by , for, from, in, of, on, to和 with九 个 。 这 些 介 词 是 连 接 英 语 句 子 的 重 要 纽 带 ， 在 英语 中 起 着 极 其 重 要 的 作 用 。 汉 译 英 时 ， 要 根 据 上 下 文 搭 配灵 活 地 选 择 介 词 。 (2)意 思 表 达 需 要 原 文 ： 这 是 黄 河 滩 上 的 一 幕 。 译 文 ： This is a scene taking place on the shore of the Yellow River. 分 析 ： 增 译 taking place 短 语 ， 使 译 文 更 为 生 动 贴 切 。(3)文 化 背 景 解 释 的 需 要 中 西 文 化 差 异 的 存 在 使 得 英 语 和 汉 语 包 含 着 许 多 文 化 色 彩浓 厚 且 不 易 为 译 文 读 者 所 理 解 的 词 语 。 在 翻 译 过 程 中 需 要使 用 增 词 译 法 把 相 关 文 化 背 景 知 识 翻 译 出 来 。 原 文 ： 三 个 臭 皮 匠 ， 胜 过 诸 葛 亮 。 译 文 ： The wit of three cobblers combined surpasses that of Zhuge Liang, the master mind. 4.词的省略 把 原 文 中 一 些 仅 为 语 法 需 要 而 存 在 的 词 、 词 组 加 以 适当 省 略 ， 达 到 译 文 通 顺 、 意 思 完 整 、 句 子 精 练 的 目 的 。 原 文 ： 于 是 转 喜 为 怒 ， 转 赞 美 为 责 备 挑 剔 ， 转 首 肯 为摇 头 。 译 文 ： Then happiness turns to anger, praise to scolding and nit-piking, and head-nodding to head-shaking.(删 除 重 复 的 谓 语 动 词 ) 5.词的代替 汉 译 英 时 可 用 替 代 的 方 法 来 避 免 重 复 ， 英 语 中 主 要有 三 种 替 代 现 象 ： 名 词 成 分 替 代 、 谓 语 成 分 替 代 和分 句 替 代 。 (1) 名 词 成 分 替 代 用 代 词 替 代 重 复 出 现 的 名 词 原 文 ： 有 水 有 鱼 的 地 方 大 都 是 有 好 环 境 的 ， 好 环 境便 会 给 人 好 心 情 。 译 文 ： A place with water and fish is necessarily blessed with a nice setting, which in return keeps people in good mood. 用 名 词 性 替 代 词 替 代 重 复 出 现 的 名 词 可 用 于 替 代 的 此 类 名 词 包 括 enough, half, the same, the kind, the sort, the former, the latter, the issue 等 。 原 文 ： 你 最 喜 欢 哪 个 男 孩 ？ 最 高 的 那 个 男 孩 。 译 文 ： -Which boy do you like best? -The tallest one. 同 义 词 替 代 同 义 词 替 代 指 用 不 同 名 词 来 表 示 同 一 个 人 或 事 物 ， 常 是概 括 词 （ generic term） 和 下 属 词 （ specific word） 之间 的 替 换 。 如 用 the furniture 替 代 table， 用 vehicle 替代 car， 用 the animal 替 代 horse 等 ， 以 免 重 复 。 原 文 ： 另 外 一 种 方 法 是 化 学 方 法 。 译 文 ： Another method is the chemical approach. (2) 谓 语 成 分 替 代 可 用 于 代 替 重 复 出 现 的 动 词 ， 或 整 个 谓 语 部 分 。 此 类 替代 词 包 括 do 及 其 搭 配 do so, do it, do that, do this, do the same 等 ， 替 代 句 型 包 括 so do/be/will+主 语 、 so+主语 +do/be/will、 as be+主 语 等 。 原 文 ： 我 不 愿 为 占 用 你 的 时 间 而 道 歉 ， 我 占 用 你 的 时 间是 有 道 理 的 。 译 文 ： I will not apologize for trespassing on your time. I have a good reason for doing so/that. 原 文 ： 他 说 他 很 勤 奋 ， 他 确 实 很 勤 奋 。 译 文 ： You say he is diligent, so he is. 原 文 ： 成 绩 有 两 重 性 ， 错 误 也 有 两 重 性 。 译 文 ： Achievement has a dual character, and so do mistakes. （ 3） 分 句 替 代 用 替 代 词 so/ not 来 替 代 充 当 宾 语 的 that 从 句 ； 用 if so 或 if not 替 代 条 件 状 语 从 句 ； 用 so 代 替 整 个 从 句 。 原 文 ； 明 天 会 下 雨 吗 ？ 我 想 不 会 /会 下 雨 。 译 文 ： -Will it rain tomorrow? -I guess not/so. 原 文 ： 你 会 来 出 席 会 议 吗 ？ 假 如 不 出 席 会 议 ， 请 及 早 通 知 我 们 。 译 文 ： Will you come to attend the meeting? If not, please notice us as soon as possible. (二) 句的翻译1. 确 定 主 干2. 语 序 调 整3. 正 反 转 换4. 语 态 对 译5. 长 句 翻 译6. 无 主 句 1.确 定 主 干 汉 译 英 时 ， 不 管 句 子 多 么 复 杂 ， 首 先 要 考 虑 英 语 的 基 本 框 架 。 组 织句 子 时 ， 始 终 不 脱 离 “ 主 -谓 ” 主 干 这 一 总 的 框 架 ， 然 后 再 进 行 相应 的 时 态 变 化 、 语 态 变 化 、 句 式 转 换 （ 肯 定 式 、 否 定 式 、 疑 问 式 、强 调 句 式 及 倒 装 句 式 等 ） ， 增 加 定 语 、 状 语 修 饰 成 分 、 插 入 语 等 。(1)确 定 主 语 原 文 ： 这 个 地 区 雨 水 较 多 。 译 文 1： It rains a lot in this area. 译 文 2： This area sees much rain. 译 文 3： There is much rain in this area. 分 析 ： 汉 语 主 语 的 角 度 变 化 很 少 ， 而 英 语 则 变 化 较 多 。 例 题 原 文 的主 语 只 能 由 “ 这 个 地 区 ” 担 当 ， 但 在 译 成 英 语 时 就 有 了 多 种 选 择 。 同 时 还 可 以 使 用 There be 结 构 和 It 作 主 语 。 (2)确 定 谓 语 原 文 ： 在 人 际 关 系 上 我 们 不 要 太 浪 漫 主 义 。 译 文 : We shouldn t be too romantic about human relationships. 分 析 ： 汉 语 中 名 词 可 充 当 谓 语 ， 英 译 文 中 转 为 系 表 结 构 。 原 文 ： 当 他 活 着 一 天 ， 总 要 尽 量 多 工 作 、 多 学 习 ， 不 肯虚 度 年 华 ， 不 让 时 间 白 白 地 浪 费 掉 。 译 文 ： As long as they are alive, they always work and study as hard as possible, unwilling to dream their life away, let alone waste even a single moment of their lives. 分 析 ： 汉 语 谓 语 动 词 时 态 、 情 态 及 语 态 是 隐 性 的 ， 英 译文 中 应 变 为 显 形 ， 译 文 补 充 出 汉 语 中 隐 藏 的 时 态 。 （ 1） 定 语 的 位 置 汉 语 的 定 语 通 常 在 修 饰 词 之 前 ； 英 语 的 定 语 位 置 分 两 种 ： 前 置 和 后置 。 单 词 充 当 定 语 通 常 放 在 被 修 饰 的 中 心 词 前 ； 而 短 语 和 从 句 作 定语 则 多 置 于 所 修 饰 的 中 心 语 之 后 。 原 文 ： 它 所 展 示 的 是 工 业 文 明 带 来 的 各 种 阶 段 性 结 果 。 译 文 ： which present the fruits achieved by industrial civilization at various stages. 原 文 ： 钓 鱼 是 一 项 能 够 陶 冶 性 情 的 运 动 ， 有 益 于 身 心 健 康 。 译 文 ： Fishing is an outdoor sport that can help cultivate your mind and it is good for our mental and physical health. 2. 语序调整 （ 2） 状 语 的 位 置 原 文 ： 我 在 山 坡 的 小 屋 里 ， 悄 悄 掀 起 窗 帘 ， 窥 见 园 中 大 千 世 界 ， 一 片 喧 闹 。 译 文 ： Without being noticed, I lifted the curtain in my small room, only to spy the bustle of a kaleidoscopic world down in the garden. （ 状 语 前 置 ） 原 文 ： 中 华 民 族 自 古 以 来 从 不 把 人 看 作 高 于 一 切 。 译 文 ： Chinese people has never regarded human being as the highest creature among everything else since ancient times. （ 状 语 后 置 ） 原 文 ： 我 吃 了 晚 饭 后 出 去 散 步 。 译 文 ： I went out for a walk after I had my dinner. / After I had my dinner, I went out for a walk. 分 析 : 汉 语 按 事 情 发 生 先 后 叙 述 ， 而 英 语 中 时 间 状 语 从 句 可 在 主 句 前 ， 也 可 在 主 句 后 。 原 文 ： 他 本 来 在 天 津 开 会 ， 会 议 一 结 束 ， 他 就 上 北 京 去 度 假 了 ，昨 天 才 坐 飞 机 回 来 。 译 文 ： He had flown yesterday from Beijing where he spent his vacation after finishing the meeting he had taken part in Tianjin. 分 析 ： 多 个 时 间 状 语 出 现 时 ， 汉 语 按 时 间 先 后 顺 序 排 列 ， 而 英 语中 状 语 的 顺 序 则 比 较 灵 活 。 原 文 ： 他 是 1970 年 5 月 20 日 在 北 京 朝 阳 区 出 生 的 。 译 文 ： He was born in Chaoyang District of Beijing on May 20, 1970. 分 析 ： 汉 语 中 时 间 状 语 在 地 点 状 语 之 前 ， 时 间 状 语 与 地 点 状 语 按从 大 到 小 的 顺 序 排 列 ， 而 英 语 中 地 点 状 语 在 时 间 状 语 之 前 ， 时 间状 语 与 地 点 状 语 按 从 小 到 大 的 顺 序 排 列 。 （ 3） 汉 英 语 言 叙 事 重 心 不 同 汉 语 先 叙 事 ， 而 后 表 态 或 评 论 ， 以 突 出 话 题 ， 这 种 句 子 被 称 为 主 题 句 。汉 译 英 时 有 时 会 译 为 掉 尾 句 ， 即 先 表 态 或 进 行 评 论 ， 后 叙 事 ， 以 突 出 主句 。 原 文 ： 下 次 会 议 要 讨 论 什 么 ， 你 给 我 们 透 透 风 吧 。 译 文 ： Will you give us some idea of what will be taken up at the next meeting? 原 文 ： 万 一 有 什 么 困 难 ， 请 给 我 们 一 个 信 。 译 文 ： Send us a message in case you have any difficulty. （ 4） 强 弱 词 语 的 顺 序 不 同 表 示 感 情 色 彩 的 轻 重 、 强 弱 时 ， 汉 语 将 重 的 内 容 、 强 的 词 语 放 在 前面 ； 英 语 将 语 义 轻 的 内 容 、 弱 的 词 语 放 在 前 面 ， 基 本 原 则 是 前 轻 后重 ， 前 简 后 繁 。 原 文 ： 一 霎 时 ， 一 阵 被 人 摒 弃 ， 为 世 所 遗 忘 的 悲 愤 兜 上 心 头 ， 禁 不住 痛 哭 起 来 。 译 文 ： In no time, I was thrown into a feeling of sorrowful anger at being forgotten and abandoned by the rest of the world and could not help crying my heart out. 分 析 ： 原 文 中 ， 感 情 色 彩 较 重 的 词 “ 摒 弃 ” 在 前 ， 相 对 较 弱 的 词“ 遗 忘 ” 在 后 ， 但 在 英 译 文 中 却 应 调 整 。 （ 5） 否 定 的 转 移 原 文 ： 他 要 等 你 答 应 帮 助 他 后 才 肯 走 。 译 文 ： He wont go away until you promise to help her. （ 6） 习 惯 用 法 原 文 ： 衣 食 住 行 是 老 百 姓 关 心 的 大 问 题 。 译 文 ： Food, clothing, shelter and transportation are the biggest concern of the common people. 原 文 ： 他 饥 寒 交 迫 ， 吃 了 不 少 苦 。 译 文 ： He suffered a great deal from cold and hunger. 3. 正 反 转 换 人 们 在 叙 述 同 一 事 物 或 表 达 同 一 思 想 时 ， 可 以 正 说 ， 也可 以 反 说 ， 汉 语 如 此 ， 英 语 也 如 此 。 例 如 ： 他 是 外 乡 人 。他 不 是 本 地 人 。 通 常 情 况 下 ， 汉 译 英 采 用 对 应 译 法 ， 即正 说 正 译 ， 反 说 反 译 。 原 文 ： 花 在 许 多 人 家 里 开 放 着 。 译 文 ： In many little gardens flowers were in bloom。 原 文 ： 黄 鼠 狼 给 鸡 拜 年 ， 不 怀 好 心 。 译 文 ： The weasel goes to pay respects to the hen without the best of intentions. The weasel pays a courtesy visit to the hen with evil intent. 但 是 由 于 汉 英 两 种 语 言 表 达 习 惯 不 同 ， 在 很 多 情况 下 会 出 现 正 说 反 译 ， 反 说 正 译 的 情 况 。(1)正 说 反 译 原 文 ： 我 完 全 同 意 。 译 文 ： I cant agree with you more. 原 文 ： 你 们 大 错 特 错 了 。 译 文 ： You couldnt be more mistaken. 原 文 ： 他 为 这 件 事 竭 尽 全 力 。 译 文 ： He spared no pains/efforts in doing this.
