I think it is very exciting to go to new places, experience different situations and see unfamiliar things. Heres what I have come up with about why travel is so fascinating. To start with, whether we know it or not, every day is filled with anxiety about things that we dont need to worry about in the first place. Going to new places is a chance to escape from our everyday worries. For example, after a whole day at work, I am often physically and mentally exhausted and start to worry about things. However, the moment I get on the train or bus to my next destination (目的地) I forget all my tiredness and worries. Next is one of the most basic concepts in travel: movement. I always take along books to read on my train trips, but in the end, only about five pages or so ever get read, because I just stare out of the window at the things whooshing by. Just the ability to move is exhilarating Movement also means that we are going to new places and seeing new things. But why is that important? Because experiencing new situations, people and ideas could help us to learn about new things and grow, especially when we dont have the burden of everyday worries. I have never gone on a trip and come back as the same person; I have always changed and grown through travel. So take every type of trip you can, at every chance you get, and you will not only experience more of the world, but will become a happier person with a richer set of experiences. 24The text is mainly about _.Ahow to have a comfortable lifeBhow to become a travel addictCwhy travel is so attractiveDhow to get rich experiences答案:C主旨大意题。通过文章第一段最后一句“Heres what I have come up with about why travel is so fascinating.” 25What does the underlined word “exhausted” mean in the second paragraph?AAngry. BExcited.CTired. DWeak. 结合画线词所在句子的后一句“However, the moment I get on the train or bus to my next destination (目的地) I forget all my tiredness and worries.” 26Why doesnt the author read much on train trips?ABecause he doesnt like reading on the train.BBecause he is distracted by the scenery.CBecause he is too busy working to read.DBecause he is too tired to read. 根据第三段第二句“., but in the end, only about five pages or so ever get read, because I just stare out of the window at the things whooshing by.” 27According to the author traveling to new places offers all of the following benefits EXCEPT that _.Ait helps us to learn new thingsBit makes us happier peopleCit helps us to get more experiencesDit gives us more chances to read答案:D细节理解题。根据文章第三段第六句中的“Because experiencing new situations, people and ideas could help us to learn about new things .”可知,旅行让人了解新的事物,故A项正确;根据最后一段中的“., and you will not only experience more of the world, but will become a happier person with a richer set of experiences.”可知,旅行让人变得更快乐而且会获得更丰富的经历,故B、C两项正确;根据第三段第二句中的“., but in the end, only about five pages or so ever get read”可知,作者在旅行时读不了多少书,故D项错误,符合题意。C The Great Barrier Reef stretches (伸展) out for 2,000 kilometers along the coast from the very northern tip of Queensland, Bamaga, to Bundaberg, better known as the Capricornia section of the Reef (it actually goes on until Papua New Guinea). Its a sort of Australian Wall made out of different ecosystems that is also visible from space. Cairns is one of the major points from which to set off for a trip to the reef. Although you can reach many spots from whatever place on the eastern coast of Queensland, many people choose Townsville. From Townsville, you can easily set off for the Great Barrier Reef Marine park, which consists of hundreds of impressive deserted islands with quiet beaches where you can stay for a few days and explore the reef area with snorkeling or diving equipment. Although housing is expensive, one of the cheapest choices is probably camping. Make sure you have brought along everything you needed. The closest island to the coast is Long Island and visited by many people who want to explore the barrier reef for only a day or a few hours. Maybe its a good idea to set off for one of the many other islands or islands groups such as the Whitsunday Islands or the Mollie Islands, Daydream Island, Hook Island, Lindeman Island or Hamilton Island, and these are only a few of the many. At the Capricorn section it is more expensive to get from the coast to one of the island. However, islands such as North West, Lady Musgrave and Tyron (all of them being national parks) offer the perfect spot for relaxation. A little bit more to the south, you will find Fraser Island. Although the reef does not extend to this island, it is a beautiful mixture of sand, sea, forests and lakes.28We can infer from the text the real length of the Great Barrier Reef is _.A2,000 kilometersBmore than 2,000 kilometersCless than 2,000 kilometersD2,000 kilometers or so答案:B推理判断题。 29It seems that many people like to start their trip from _.ABamaga BBundabergCTownsville DCairns答案:C细节理解题。 Townsville。30If you want to explore the barrier reef in a short time, you can visit _.AHamilton Island BHook IslandCDaydream Island DLong Island答案:D推理判断题。 31_ is not a national park in Australia.ANorth West BSouth WestCTyron DLady Musgrave答案:B细节理解题。 D(2017全国卷)After years of heated debate, gray wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park. Fourteen wolves were caught in Canada and transported to the park. By last year, the Yellowstone wolf population had grown to more than 170 wolves.Gray wolves once were seen here and there in the Yellowstone area and much of the continental United States, but they were gradually displaced by human development. By the 1920s, wolves had practically disappeared from the Yellowstone area. They went farther north into the deep forests of Canada, where there were fewer humans around. The disappearance of the wolves had many unexpected results. Deer and elk populationsmajor food sources (来源) for the wolfgrew rapidly. These animals consumed large amounts of vegetation (植被), which reduced plant diversity in the park. In the absence of wolves, coyote populations also grew quickly. The coyotes killed a large percentage of the parks red foxes, and completely drove away the parks beavers. As early as 1966, biologists asked the government to consider reintroducing wolves to Yellowstone Park. They hoped that wolves would be able to control the elk and coyote problems. Many farmers opposed the plan because they feared that wolves would kill their farm animals or pets. The government spent nearly 30 years coming up with a plan to reintroduce the wolves. The US Fish and Wildlife Service carefully monitors and manages the wolf packs in Yellowstone. Today, the debate continues over how well the gray wolf is fitting in at Yellowstone.Elk, deer, and coyote populations are down, while beavers and red foxes have made a comeback. The Yellowstone wolf project has been a valuable experiment to help biologists decide whether to reintroduce wolves to other parts of the country as well.32What is the text mainly about?AWildlife research in the United States.BPlant diversity in the Yellowstone area.CThe conflict between farmers and gray wolves.DThe reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone Park. D。33What does the underlined word “displaced” in Paragraph 2 mean?ATested. BSeparated.CForced out. DTracked down. 34What did the disappearance of gray wolves bring about?ADamage to local ecology.BA decline in the parks income.CPreservation of vegetation.DAn increase in the variety of animals. A。35What is the authors attitude towards the Yellowstone wolf project?ADoubtful. BPositive.CDisapproving. DUncaring. How to Remove LonelinessMany people find it difficult to maintain or create relationships during their working life.
