After the government announced the rule, Guangdong Bicycle Industry Association sent a letter to the government on Tuesday. Also, they noted that the Law on Road Traffic Safety doesnt give the local government the right to forbid riding electric bicycles. Not only are we being told we need to do a lot more physical activities, but were also being urged to get out of our chairseven if we do the right amount of exercise. The new guidelines focus not just on the exercise but on the amount of time we spend being sedentary Sedentary behavior is the term to describe physically inactive tasks that dont require lots of energy, basically sitting or lying down. Activities are often measured in METs (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) Sedentary activities are in between 1 and 1.5 METs, walking at a moderate pace ranges from 3 to 3.5 and jogging is about 7. In recent years, a growing body of research has linked sedentary behavior to obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, some cancers and premature death. Its considered such a risk that one US expert has gone so far as to suggest sitting for most of the day may be as dangerous to your health as smoking. Experts say were sedentary on average for 7 to 10 hours a day (this doesnt include our time spent sleeping). Even if you are meeting, or exceeding (超过), the recommended 60 minutes a day of physical activity, you can still be considered sedentary. The guidelines dont make any specific recommendations about how long you should sit for, instead they say we should “minimize the amount of time spent in prolonged sitting” and to “break up long periods of sitting as often as possible”. However, some experts recommend breaking up any period of sitting that lasts longer than 20 to 30 minutes. You do this by simply standing up for a couple of minutes or taking a short walk. 21From the passage we know that _.Asedentary behavior is as dangerous to health as smokingBsedentary behavior may lead to some cancersCwe are sedentary for 7 to 10 hours a day in totalDwe are healthy if we do proper amount of exercise答案:B细节理解题。 22Which may score the highest in METs according to the passage?ASleeping. BReading.CShopping. DRunning. 依据第二段最后一句“Sedentary activities are in between . jogging is about 7.” D。23Where does this passage probably come from?AScience fiction. BA scientific paper.CAn advertisement. DA health report. D。BI had an eating disorder when I was about 14. I went from being 54 (5 feet 4 inches) and 130 pounds to 56 and 94 pounds. I wanted to gain weight, so I ate anything I wanted and ended up at 58 and 160 pounds. Then I had another eating disorder and went from 160 to 130 pounds at 59. I started eating a lot again and ended up at 205 pounds. I was really close to obesity and was concerned about my health. I decided to take action. I cut off many carbs I ceased drinking sugary soft drinks which can make people gain weight quickly. I started eating more vegetables in my diet. My mom weighed 130 pounds two years ago. In order to lose weight, she gave up fast food and ate vegetables instead. She is now around 107 pounds. She succeeds in losing weight through eating more vegetables and less fast food. And that was why I started eating more vegetables. I also learned to eat less. Within 3 to 5 months I lost 55 pounds. I am still losing weight now but at a slower rate than that when I started changing my diet. Im confident that my weight will drop to a normal level. Do you also want to lose weight? If you do, here is some advice for you. If you like eating sweet sugary things, then I would suggest you eat more fruits but with an empty stomach. If you dislike running like me, then I would recommend walking if you want to exercise. Here are some more tips. Do not eat too much at one time. Eat slowly and wait till your brain tells you that youre full. Look at nutrition facts on food items before you eat them and throw them away if theyre unhealthy. Eat more vegetables and fruits. Spend more time on exercise. 24According to Paragraph 1, how many pounds did the writer put on after the second eating disorder?AAbout 45 pounds. B66 pounds.C75 pounds. DAbout 110 pounds. 根据第一段中的“Then I had another eating disorder and went from 160 to 130 pounds”以及“I started eating a lot again and ended up at 205 pounds.” 25The underlined word “ceased” in Paragraph 2 means “_”Aconsidered BkeptCstopped Dtried答案:C词义猜测题。由上文中的“I decided to take action”与下文中的“ . I lost 55 pounds.I am still losing weight now.” 26What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?AHow much weight the writer lost.BHow the writers mother lost weight.CWhy the writer wanted to lose weight.DHow the writer managed to lose weight. 由“I decided to take action. I cut off many carbs(含碳水化合物的食物). I ceased .”和“Im confident that my weight will drop to a normal level.” D。27The writer started eating more vegetables because _.Aother ways were not helpfulBvegetables were deliciousChis/her mother asked him/her to do soDhe/she thought it helpful to lose weight答案:D推理判断题。根据第二段中的“She succeeds in losing weight through eating more vegetables and less fast food. And that was why I started eating more vegetables.” C(2018福州四校高三年级联考)Have you ever felt so tired after staying up for a night that even coffee doesnt give you the energy that you need? You may have an energy drink, but the benefits of drinking one are heavily outweighed by the risks. In the past years, more and more studies have found the deadly effects of energy drinks on your bodies. The sugar, caffeine and energy supplements (添加物) in energy drinks make up a deadly mixture of ingredients that can affect your heart function and send you to the hospital!A study by the University of Bonn, Germany found that frequent consumption of energy drinks can greatly change the way your heart functions. The study went on to say that consuming energy drinks often causes significantly increased heart contractions (收缩) in adults, which has the potential of putting you at risk of irregular heartbeats. It is possible that many people are unaware of the alarming side effects of energy drinks because of the way they are labelled. Most energy drinks contain between 80 milligrams to over 350 milligrams of caffeine, sugar and energy supplements. When an energy drink is marketed as a diet supplement it may be distributed without a “nutrition facts” label, which would show the harmful supplements that are in the drink. However, even if energy drinks are Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved, they dont have to show the number of supplements.Energy drinks may be widely available but they arent the healthiest or safest choice for your body. Stay naturally energized, get organized and stay on top of your work so that you dont have to stay up all night to complete assigned tasks. If youd like a natural energy boost, you could make time for a short workout, which will give you all of the energy you need!28Which of the following is the side effect of the energy drinks?AMaking people thinner.BMaking peoples heart bigger.CMaking people run a risk of falling ill.DMaking people suffer from heart attacks. 根据第二段第二句“The sugar, caffeine and energy supplements (添加物) in energy drinks make up a deadly mixture of ingredients that can affect your heart function and send you to the hospital!” 29Why are many people unaware of the harmful effects of energy drinks?ABecause the harmful materials are not labelled.BBecause FDA thinks they are healthy drinks.CBecause they dont read the label carefully.DBecause factories of energy drinks lie to drinkers. 根据第四段第一句“It is possible that many people are unaware of the alarming side effects of energy drinks because of the way they are labelled.” 30What is the last paragraph mainly about?AThe effects of energy drinks.BThe benefits of doing exercise.CThe better choice of right drinks.DThe way to have enough energy. 根据最后一段最后一句“If youd like a natural energy boost, you could make time for a short workout, which will give you all of the energy you need!” 31What is the main idea of the text?ADont drink energy drinks.BMany people enjoy energy drinks.CThe materials that energy drinks contain are harmless.DEnergy drinks could send you to hospital. 根据全文内容,尤其是第一段中的“You may have an energy drink, but the benefits of drinking one are heavily outweighed by the risks.”及最后一段“Energy drinks may be widely available but they arent the healthiest or safest choice for your body.” DAt five years oldan age by which any great grand master should at least have made a startMagnus Carlsen showed little interest in chess. In a tournaments held in the Russian town of Sochi, the 23yearold Norwegian got the world championship he first won almost effortlessly the year before. It was when he was 13, still babyfaced and turning up to tournaments with “Donald Duck” comic books in his hand, that Carlsen took chesss highest official title of grand master. He reached the world top six years later, in 2010, and in May, 2014 gained a record of 2882 pointsthe highest of any human in history. His great rise caused Garry Kasparov, a former world champion, to predict:“Before he ends his career, Carlsen will have changed our ancient game.”For a professional chess player, he is certainly different. Most develop a crazy child for the game within a couple of years of learning to talk; Carlsen was eight by the time he finally came around to it. Most dont take part in other activities; Carlsen loves football and skiing. As a boy, he practised skijumping. When he plays chess, he often appears upset and sleepless. A few steps into the eighth game of the match against Anand, he held his square jaw on his left handand appeared to take a nap. But the most remarkable thing about this largely selftaught player is his informal approach to the game. He sidesteps (规避) almost all of the computer methods that others consider basic. Paying far less attention to opening theory than his rivals, he is happy to go down paths that may offer no advantage yet have the benefit of driving his opponents out of their “openings book”. Once beyond the reach of computeraided openings, Carlsen starts to win.32Which is the best title of the passage?AAn unusual chess masterBAn unpredictable resultCA long hard way to the futureDA splendid chess future答案:A标题判断题。 A。33What can we infer from the first paragraph?AAny chess player has the smartest brain.BThe chess players are all the most diligent people.CThe grand master doesnt need to be the smartest.DMagnus Carlsen took interest in che
