Frost attended Dartmouth College after graduating from high school in 1892. In 1894, his first poem, titled“My Butterfly, An Elegy”, was published in The Independent. Robert Frost went on to attend Harvard University in 1897 after marrying his wife Elinor in 1895. He left university due to health concerns, and moved to a New Hampshire farm in the year 1900.The time Robert Frost spent on his farm in New Hampshire was very hard for him, his wife and children. He tried to work hard and support his family. However, Frost came to respect country life and grew an appreciation for those living around him. These experiences on the farm inspired many of his well-known poems, including “The Tufts of Flowers” and “The Trial by Existence”, both of which were published in 1906. It was when Robert Frost decided to sell his farm in 1912 and move to England that he found publishers who were willing to help him. His first collection of poems, “A Boys Will”, was published only a few months after his arrival in England, and “North of Boston” was published a year afterward. By the time that Robert Frost made it back to his home country of America, he had built a solid career and reputation in England and was able to further his success. In 1916, with some influential publishers help, Frost published “Mountain Interval”, which contained poems and stories he had written during his stay in England. Robert Frost died on January 29, 1963 in Boston, at the age of 88. Before passing away, Robert Frost was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 1960 for his contributions.4. The passage is developed _.A. by following the order of space B. by giving reasonsC. by following the order of time D. by giving examplesCAre some people born clever, and others born stupid? Or is intelligence developed by our environment and our experience? Strangely enough, the answer to these questions is yes. To some extent our intelligence is given to us at birth, and no amount of education can make a genius (天才)out of a child born with low intelligence. On the other hand, a child who lives in a boring environment will develop his intelligence less than one who lives in rich and varied surrounding (环境). Thus the limits of person s intelligence are fixed at birth, whether or not he reaches those limits will depend on his environment. This view, now held by most experts, can be supposed in a number of ways. It is easy to show that intelligence is to some extent something we are born with. The closer the blood relationship between two people, the closer they are likely to be intelligent. Thus if we take two unrelated people at random from population, it is likely that their degree of intelligence will be pletely different. If, on the other hand, we take two identical twins, they will very likely to be as intelligent as each other. Relations like brothers and sisters, parents and children, usually have similar intelligence, and this clearly suggests that intelligence depends on birth. Imagine now that we take two identical (完全相同的)twins and put them in different environments. We might send one, for example, to a university and the other to a factory where the working is boring. We would soon find differences in intelligence developing, and this shows that environment as well as birth plays a part. This conclusion is also suggested by the fact that people who live in close contact with each other, but who are not related at all are likely to have similar degree of intelligence.8.Which of these sentences best describes the writers point in Paragraph 1? A.To some extent, intelligence is given at birth. B.Intelligence is developed by the environment. C.Some people are born clever and others born stupid. D.Intelligence is fixed at birth, but is developed by the environment.9.It is suggested in this passage that_. A.unrelated people are not likely to have different intelligence B.close relations usually have similar intelligence C.the closer the blood relationship between people, the more different they are likely to be in intelligence D.people who live in close contact with each other are not likely to have similar degrees of intelligence10.Brothers and sisters are likely to_. A.have similar intelligence B.have different intelligence C.go to the same university D.go to the same factory11.The best title for this article would be_. A.On Intelligence B.What Intelligence Means C.We Are Born with Intelligence D.Environment Plays a Part in Developing IntelligenceD More than 10 million Chinese cultural relics have been lost overseas, most of which were stolen and illegally shipped out of China during the times of war before 1949. About 1. 67 million pieces are housed in more than 200 museums in 47 countries, which accounts for 10 percent of all lost Chinese cultural relics, and the rest are in the hands of private collectors. Most of these treasures are owned by museums or private collectors in the United States, Europe, Japan and Southeast Asian countries. There are more than 23,000 pieces in the British Museum, most of which were stolen or bought for pennies more than 100 years ago. The major method to recover these national treasures was to buy them back. In some cases, private collectors donated the relics to the government. Also the government can turn to official channels(渠道) to demand the return of relics. In xx, a priceless bronze pigs head dating from the Qing Dynasty was returned to its home in Beijing after it was removed by the AngloFrench Allied Army over 140 years ago. Macao entrepreneur(企业家) Stanley Ho donated 6 million yuan to buy it back from a US art collector and then donated it to the Poly Art Museum in Beijing. Although buyingback is the most feasible way to recover the lost treasures, limited funding is always a big headache. In recent years, the Chinese government has improved efforts to recover the precious cultural relics lost overseas. It has started a national project on the recovery of the treasures and has set up a database(数据库) collecting relevant information. It has signed several international agreements with many countries on this matter, and is also looking for international cooperation to recover the relics by working closely with several international organizations. 12.
