2019-2020年高考英语二轮复习 阅读理解练习(3)(VI)阅读理解-A The practice of swapping fashions has recently been attracting attention worldwide, particularly in Europe and the United States. This is an activity aimed at making more effective use of resources by providing a platform for people to exchange free of charge those fashion items in their closets that they dont use anymore. In London, fashion swap events sponsored by the credit card pany VISA focus on the swapping of specific brands. Japans first major fashion swap event, “xChange,” was held in September 2007 in Tokyo. The xChange event is designed to exchange not only fishing items but also information and feelings from the owners of the clothes, using what is called an “episode tag.” Participants put tags on each of the items they bring and write their name and a bride episode about the items. For example, a tag of a white jacket read, “This is a gift from a friend, but its just not my style.” On a tag attached to a pair of red shoes, a person wrote. “These dont fit me anymore. I hope someone who loves red can use them.” Just as shoppers check price tags, some people check the episode tags before making a selection, imagining who used to wear the item. The episode tags make people aware of the human connection by exchanging goods. Many participants say things like, “Im very lucky to get such lovely clothes for free,” and “I was happy to see someone try on and choose what I brought here.” Unwanted clothes for one person can be new and exciting for someone else. Besides, xChange achieves close to a 100-percent reuse rate by donating leftover clothes to panies that reuse or recycle secondhand clothing. Anything they cannot use, they then donate to developing countries or reuse them as rags. Since xx, the xChange event has been held every two or three months in a different region of Japan, always attracting many participants. This success is probably because it is an active event that gives participants opportunities to enjoy fashion without increasing the impact on the environment. 1. Whats the main purpose of the fashion exchange?A. To attract peoples attention. B. To make good use of resources.C. To get rid of unwanted clothes. D. To try to avoid buying new clothes. 答案解析:答案为B。 本题为细节题。由第一段第二句话 “This is an activity aimed at making more effective use of resources by”可知,答案为B。2. What is special about an episode tag?A. It provides personal information of the owner. B. It is being attached by a price tag.C. It gives details of a fashion item. D. It includes brief information of the item and feelings of the owner.答案解析:答案为D。本题为词义推测题。由第二段 “The xChange event is designed to exchange not only fishing items but also information and feelings from the owners of the clothes, using what is called an “episode tag.”可知,答案为D。3. That the xChange event has achieved success is probably because _.A. it donates secondhand clothing to developing countries B. it changes peoples way of consumingC. offers an example of enjoying fashion without damaging environmentD. it shows fashion is the best policy for women 答案解析:答案为C。本题为细节题。由最后一段 “This success is probably because it is an active event that gives participants opportunities to enjoy fashion without increasing the impact on the environment.”可知,答案为C。4. Which of the following can be the best title of the passage?A. Fashion Exchange Concept Grows in Japan.B. xChange Environment Meets the Fashion Industry.C. The Global Rise of the Fashion Exchange. D. Join in xChange.答案解析:答案为A。本题为主旨大意题。由第二段 “Japans first major fashion swap event, xChange, was held in September 2007 in Tokyo.” 可知,第一届Fashion Exchangexx年在日本东京举办,后文对其进行了介绍,最后一段呼应文章的中心 “Since xx, the xChange event has been held every two or three months in a different region of Japan, always attracting many participants.”, 因此本文主要介绍Fashion Exchange在日本的盛行,尽管第一段提到Fashion Exchange在欧美受到了欢迎,但这仅仅是Fashion Exchange的影响,故最佳标题为A。阅读理解请认真阅读下列短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。Usually, when your teacher asks a question, there is only one correct answer. But there is one question that has millions of current answers. That question is “Whats your name?” Everyone gives a different answer, but everyone is correct.Have you ever wondered about peoples names? Where do they e from? What do they mean?Peoples first names, or given names, are chosen by their parents. Sometimes the name of a grandparent or other member of the family is used. Some parents choose the name of a well-known person. A boy could be named George Washington Smith; a girl could be named Helen Keller Jones. Some people give their children names that mean good things. Clara means “bright”; Beatrice means “one who gives happiness”; Donald means “world ruler”; Leonard means “as brave as a lion”.The earliest last names, or surnames, were taken from place names. A family with the name Brook or Brooks probably lived near brook(小溪);someone who was called Longstreet probably lived on a long, paved road. The Greenwood family lived in or near a leafy forest.Other early surnames came from peoples occupations. The most mon occupational name is Smith, which means a person who makes things with iron or other metals. In the past, smiths were very important workers in every town and village. Some other occupational names are: Carter a person who owned or drove a cart; Potter a person who made pots and pans. The ancestors of the Baker family probably baked bread for their neighbors in their native village. The Carpenters great-great-great-grandfather probably built houses and furniture.Sometimes people were known for the color of their hair or skin, or their size, or their special abilities. When there were two men who were named John in the same village, the John with the gray hair probably became John Gray. Or the John was very tall could call himself John Tallman. John Fish was probably an excellent swimmer and John Lightfoot was probably a fast runner or a good dancer. Some family names were made by adding something to the fathers name. English-speaking people added s or son. The Johnsons are descendants of John; the Roberts familys ancestor was Robert. Irish and Scottish people added Mac or Mc or O. Perhaps all of the MacDonnells and the MacDonnells and the ODonnells are descendants of the same Donnell.( ) 1. Which of the following aspects do the surnames in the passage NOT cover?A. Places where people lived. B. Peoples characters.C. Talents that people possessed. D. Peoples occupations.选B,根据文中4,5,6三段可知只有B选项未提及( ) 2. According to the passage, the ancestors of the Potter family most probably _.A. owned or drove a cart B. made things with metalsC. made kitchen tools or contains D. built houses and furniture选C文中第六段potter-a person who made pots and pans,可知potter 意为一个制作茶壶和平底锅的人,由此推断选C( ) 3. Suppose and English couple whose ancestors lived near a leafy forest wanted their new-born son to bee a world leader, the baby might be named _.A. Beatrice Smith B. Leonard CarterC. George Longstreet D. Donald Greenwood选D根据文中倒数第2段可知一些人取名是根据特征而来。比如灰色头发的人取名john Gray,高个的人取名john Tallman.所以根据题意,居住在森林旁边的人取名为Donald Greenw( ) 4. The underlined word “descendants” in the last paragraph means a persons _A. later generations B. friends and relativesC. colleagues and partners D. later sponsors选A 根据最后一段第一二行“some family names were made by adding something to the fathers name. The Johnsons are descendants of John可知descendants指的是后代。阅读理解。It is reported that conservation groups in North America have been arguing about the benefits and dangers of wolves. Some groups believe wolves should be killed. Other people believe wolves must be protected so that they will not disappear from the wilderness (荒野) For Killing Wolves In Alaska, the wolf almost disappeared a few years ago, because hunters were killing hundreds of them for sport. However1aws were established to protect the wolves from sportsmen and people who catch the animals for their furSo the wolf population has greatly increased. Now there are so many wolves that they are destroying their own food supply A wolf naturally eats animals in the deer family. People in the wilderness also hunt deer for foodMany of the animals have been destroyed by the very cold winters recently and by changes in the wilderness plant lifeWhen the deer cant find enough food, they die If the wolves continue to kill large numbers of deer, their prey(猎物)will disappear some dayAnd the wolves willtooSo we must change the cycle of life in the wilderness to balance the ecologyIf we killed more wolves,we would save them and their prey from dying outWed also save some farm animals In another northern state, wolves attack cows and chickens for foodFarmers want the government to send biologists to study the problemThey believe it necessary to kill wolves in some areas and to protect them in places where there is a small wolf population Against Killing Wolves If you had lived long ago,you would have heard many different stories about the dangerous wolfAccording to most stories, hungry wolves often kill people for foodEven today, the stories of the “big bad wolfwill not disappear But the fact is wolves are afraid of peopleand they seldom travel in areas where there is a human smellWhen wolves eat other animals, they usually kill the very youngor the sick and injured .The strongest survive .No kind of animal would have survived through the centuries if the weak members had livedAnd has always been a law of nature. Although some people say it is good sense to kill wolves,we say it is nonsense! Researchers have found wolves and their prey living in balanceThe wolves keep the deer population from being too large, and that keeps a balance in the wilderness plant life The real problem is that the areas where wolves can live are being used by peopleEven if wilderness land is not used directly for human needsthe wolves cant always find enough food .So they travel to the nearest source, which is often a farmThen there is dangerThe “big bad wolf” has arrived! And everyone knows what happens next( ) 1. According to the passage, some people in North America favor killing wolves for all the following reasons EXCET that A. there are too many wolves B. they kill large numbers deerC. they attack cows and chickens for food D. they destroy the wilderness plant life选D根据文中小标题For killing wolves 第一段第三行“so the wolf population has increased”第三段第一句和第四段第一句话,可知选项D不是原因( ) 2. According to those against killing wolves, when wolves eat other animals, A. they never eat strong and healthy onesB. they always go against the law of natureC. they might help this kind of animals survive in natureD. they disturb the ecological balance in the wilderness选C 小标题Against killing wolves 中第二段最后两行可知强者生存,弱者淘汰是自然法则( ) 4. The last sentence “And everyone knows what happens next” implies that in such cases .A. farm animals will be in danger and have to be shipped awayB. wolves will kill people and people will in turn kill themC. wolves will find enough food sources on farmsD. people will leave the areas where wolves can live选B 文中最后一段可知狼居住的地方被人类占据,它们就会跑到就近的农场等地吃人,那么人类就会反过来杀死它们。阅读理解I dont think ic book collector really applies to me at all. Im probably more of a ic book appreciator. My interest has always been in what can be acplished with the medium of visual story-telling. Im not sure exactly where this interest of mine came from. I do know that as a child, ic books allowed me to improve my reading skills. “The Mighty Thor helped me develop an interest in old legends, and “Challengers of the Unknown got me crazy about science fiction. The bination of words and pictures was a perfect springboard for my childhood imagination. How does one learn to appreciate ic book art? There is a classic example that sheds quite a bit of light on the subject. Writer Scott Macloud just explains what makes a ic book stand out in his best selling book Understanding ics. The book, first published in 1994, has been translated into 13 languages and is practically a bible for students studying graphic illustration (图示说明) in novels. On the internet there are some cool ic book sites to be foundhundreds and hundreds of them as a matter of fact. More than a few are dedicated to super heroes and the like. But there are some choice sites that I would visit, because they provide some great resources that discuss the ic book as an art form. Noteworthy among them is a great article and interview at rcharvey. corn, which discusses the impact of several artists and writers in the field. I have a huge admiration for anyone who can produce ic stories that can make readers think, laugh and cry. Maybe make them dream. Check it out. Spend two dollars on a ic book and read it with your children. Or better yet, search out some of the more “adult tides and read it for yourself. You may find yourself enjoying what you see and read. You may even find yourself wanting more. 1. What does the author mainly intend to talk about in Paragraph 2?A. Influence of ic books on reading in childhood.B. Ways to improve ones reading skills.C. Subjects of ic books. D. Popularity of two ic books.答案解析:答案为A。本题为段落大意题。细读第二段可知 “Im not sure exactly where this interest of mine came from. I do know that as a child, ic books allowed me to improve my reading skills.”为本段的中心句,后面的内容都是对此进行了解释说明,故答案为A。2. The underlined part sheds quite a bit of light on (Para3) means _.A. does a basic research on B. causes a fierce debate onC. provides new information on D. makes a quick survey on 答案解析:答案为C。本题为语义推断题。结合划线部分的后面两句话可知,Writer Scott Macloud写了一本书,被翻译成13种语言,帮助学生理解漫画。划线部分的意思与C选项最接近。故答案为C。3. If you want to know a few good writers of ic books, you will probably _.A. read Understanding ics B. visit rcharveycornC. buy some ic books D. turn to ic story writers 答案解析:答案为B。本题为细节题。由第四段最后一句话 “Noteworthy among them is a great article and interview at rcharvey. corn, which discusses the impact of several artists and writers in the field.”可知,答案为B。4. What does the author encourage people to do?A. Develop an interest in old legends and science fiction.B. Share a ic book with children.C. Produce some ic stories. D. Spend money and time appreciating ic books. 答案解析:答案为D。本题考查作者的态度观点。由最后一段 “Check it out. Spend two dollars on a ic book and read it with your children.”可知,答案为D。
