Sometimes people want to know what type of food is healthy, and what kind of food may hurt our health. The United States Department of Agriculture has prepared a small book to help people learn about which types of foods are the healthiest to eat. The book describes six basic food groups: meat, dairy products(things made from milk), grains, fruits and vegetables. The last group is fat, oil and sweets.Asa result ofyears of research, we know that too much fat is bad for our health. For example, Americans eat a lot of meat and only a small amount ofgrains, fruits and vegetables. Because of this, they often get cancer and heart disease. In Japan, on the other hand, people eat large amounts of grains and very little meat. They also have a very low rate of cancer and heart disease. In fact, the Japanese live longer than people in any other country. Unfortunately, when Japanese people move to the United States, the rate of heart disease and cancer increases as their diet changes. Whats more, as hamburgers and other highfat foods bee mon in Japan, the rate of heart disease and cancer is increasing there as well.People are also eating more meat and dairy products in other countries such as Cuba and Hungary. Its no surprise that the disease rate in these countries is increasing along with the change in diet. Therefore, doctors everywhere advise people to eat more grains, fruits and vegetables, and eat less meat and dairy products.2019-2020年人教版高中英语必修三教学案:Unit 2 Section 1(含答案)E AND EAT HERE (1)Wang Peng sat in his empty restaurant feeling very frustrated. It had been a very strange morning. Usually he got up early and prepared his menu of barbecuedmutton kebabs, roast pork, stirfried vegetables and fried rice. Then by lunchtime they would all be sold. By now his restaurant ought to be full of people. But not today! Why was that? What could have happened? He thought of his mutton, beef and baconcooked in the hottest, finest oil. His cola was sugary and cold, and his ice cream was made of milk, cream and delicious fruit. “Nothing could be better,” he thought. Suddenly he saw his friend Li Chang hurrying by.“Hello, Lao Li,” he called. “Your usual?” But Li Chang seemed not to hear. What was the matter? Something terrible must have happened if Li Chang was not ing to eat in his restaurant as he always did.Wang Peng followed Li Chang into a small new restaurant. It was full of people. The hostess, a very thin lady, came forward. “Wele,” she said. “My name is Yong Hui. Ill help you lose weight and be fit in two weeks if you eat here every day.” Then she gave a menu to Wang Peng. There were few choices of food and drink on it: just rice, raw vegetables served in vinegar, fruit and water. Wang Peng was amazed at this and especially at the prices. It cost more than a good meal in his restaurant! He could not believe his eyes. He threw down the menu and hurried outside. On his way home he thought about his own menu. Did it make people fat? Perhaps he should go to the library and find out. He could not have Yong Hui getting away withtellingpeople lies! He had better do some research! At the library Wang Peng was surprised to find that his restaurant served far too much fat and Yong Huis far too little. Even though her customers might get thin after eating Yong Huis food, they were not eating enough energygiving food to keep them fit. They would bee tired very quickly. Wang Peng felt more hopeful as he drove back home. Perhaps with a discount and a new sign he could win his customers back. So he wrote:Wanttofeelfitandenergetic?eandeathere!Discountstoday!Ourfoodgivesyouenergyallday! The petition between the two restaurants was on!curiosity/kjrIstI/n.好奇心out of curiosity出于好奇drive在本句中意为“驱使”hostess/hstIs/n. 醋be amazed at因/对感到惊奇/吃惊throw down扔下;甩下think about考虑;想起have sb. doing sth. get away with受到从轻发落;(做坏事)不受惩罚tell a lie说谎lie/laI/n. 说谎lie说谎liedliedlyinglie躺;位于laylainlyinglay放置laidlaidlayingdo some research做一些调查even thougheven if “即使”,引导让步状语从句。customer/kstm/n. discount/dIskant/n.折扣with a discount通过打折win .back赢回;重新获得all dayall the daythe whole day一整天the petition between A and BA和B之间的竞争be on开始了以上部分译文王鹏在好奇心的驱使下,走了进去。 PrereadingPlease match the words with their proper meanings. 15EIGJA610LCKHB1112DFLeadinLook at the following pictures, do you know in what ways the food helps you grow? Over time, staying awake in the night can e with a high cost. You should stop your night owl (夜猫子) habit.pared with people who turn in early, those who go to bed very late are more likely to suffer from repeated negative thoughts. Psychologists suggest that focusing on good sleep habits can help.Have you been getting into a lot of arguments lately? Theres one easy way to fix that. The result is more misunderstandings with those around you. Being well rested, on the other hand, will help you control your temper and youll get along better with others.According to AAA Foundation reports, people who sleep six to seven hours are twice as likely to have a car accident as those who sleep for eight hours or more when driving. People who sleep for five hours or less increase their risk up to fivefold. How so? When you lack sleep, you have less energy to exercise or make healthy food choices. Plus, studies show that the later you stay up, the more you eat. For example, most of us remember our parents telling us to eat more of certain foods or not to do certain things. Is there any truth in these teachings? Some of them agree with present medical thinking, but others have not passed the test of time.Did your mother ever tell you to eat carrots because they are good for your eyes? Scientists now report that eating carrots can help prevent a serious eye disease called macular degeneration. Eating just one carrot a day can reduce the possibility of getting this disease by 40%. Garlic (蒜) is good for you, too. It can kill the type of virus that causes colds.Unfortunately, not all of Moms advice passed the test of medical studies. For example, generations of children have been told not to go swimming within an hour after eating. But research suggests that there is no danger in doing so. Do sweets cause tooth problems? Well, yes and no. Sticky sweets made with grains tend to cause more problems than sweets made with simple sugars.Even though science can tell us that some of our traditional beliefs dont hold_water,_there is still a lot of truth in the old wives tales. It does not mean crying while running. Its actually a cross between crawling (爬行) and running that involves getting down on all fours and moving. The strange workout, best described as your thighs (大腿) worst nightmare, was invented by Australian fitness enthusiast Shaun McCarthy. The video of his crunning has been getting much attention online and it has inspired others to take up running on all fours as well. Now crunning is a steadilygrowing sport in Australia.McCarthy says that crunning is a more plete workout because it involves the upper body as well. “It really works your thighs and shoulders at the same time,” he said, adding that he believes it burns more calories as well. Some fitness experts believe that McCarthy might just be onto something there. According to Kim Baylor, a certified personal trainer, any exercise that involves full body motions leaves the chance to develop a lot of strength. However, many think crunning is likely to be out of date soon and it might even be harmful if done incorrectly. Fitness coach Kevin Dean said, “We humans are upright; our wrists have different structures than ankles. But a quadruped (四足的) animal would have four of roughly the same joint. As a result, I often see broken noses, bad wrists, and shoulder problems arising from crunning.”Health experts suggest wearing special gloves to prevent damage to hands while crunning. Its necessary to increase the intensity (强度) of exercise step by step. Crunning may be too much for a beginner and it could be bad for your neck. If it hurts severely, stop immediately and just stick to traditional running. 9What do we know about crunning?AIt is running on all fours.BIts not a plete workout.CIt is gaining worldwide popularity.DIt is created to strengthen the thighs. 10Kim Baylors attitude to crunning is _.Aunfavorable BapprovingCdoubtful Dcautious解析:选B推理判断题。由第三段“McCarthy says that crunning is a more plete workout because it involves the upper body as well.”及Kim Baylor所说的话“.any exercise that involves full body motions leaves the chance to develop a lot of strength.” 11What will Kevin Dean agree with?AMcCarthys idea is practical.BCrunning is a better fitness activity.CCrunning is not suitable for human beings.DIts dangerous to take wholebody exercise. 12Whats the advice on crunning from health experts?ATry to avoid using your neck.BOnce you begin, never give up.CTake measures to protect your hands.DGo as fast as possible at the beginning. Holidays are busy time, and if you dont make a plan for healthy meals, you will gain weight quickly and have other health problems._1_ Here are some reasonable tips for you.Remember that some is better than none. You go to the grocery store and buy a few things rich in protein, a few fruits and vegetables, and maybe some snacks, thinking, “This is enough for the whole week.” Then, about midweek, youre sick of making the same thing over and over, or you run out of something you thought you had enough of.
