C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑A “He was a nightmare (噩梦),” his mother, Mary said as I talked with her and her son Jamie. “I was sure he was going to end up in prison, or worse”. Seeing Jamie so full of life with his new friends, there was no room for imagination that he was ever a rebellious (叛逆的) kid.Jamie was raised by his mother after his father left ten years ago. They lived in a small flat with little money. Most of their neighbors were alcoholics, so crime was very mon. At middle school, he quickly got in with the wrong crowd and began to steal everything from shoes to phones.Mary didnt realize the consequence of the trouble Jamie made until he told her he had been stopped from going to school for three weeks. Mary was very angry, but now she has realized that it was the best thing that had happened to both of them.During the three weeks, Mary made him volunteer at the local munity centre where he saw the street dancers for the first time. “They were so cool and able to express themselves in a way I had never seen before. I asked to join them and they agreed. Because of them I am who I am now.” Jamie told me, tears in his eyes.Back at school, his whole attitude and behavior improved. “I realized the boys I was hanging out with werent cool, stealing wasnt cool and getting out of school wasnt cool either. It made me find something I love and have a goal in life.” he said.Yes, street dance makes him happy. This kind of dance speaks to people, and gives them a purpose. 21. Who is most probably the writer? A. A reporter. B. A manager. C. A photographer. D. A dancer.22. What is Marys attitude toward Jamies future in the first paragraph? A. Angry.B. Negative. C. The text is written to _. A. outline the advantages of learning street dance B. warn about the dangers of a difficult childhood C. give advice on how to handle rebellious teenagers D. tell how a kid changed after learning street danceB “Sooner or later, we will have to recognize that the Earth also has right to live without pollution. What we must know is that human beings cannot live without the Earth, but the planet can live without humans.” -Evo Morales I am not one to tell people what to do; I basically believe that as Americans we have a right to our own opinions, social issues, etc. Now, with that being said, I must stress one issue that seems to be a growing trend: pick up your trash. I love the fact that parents involve their children in outdoor activities. In fact, I encourage outdoor activities for children. I think that being outdoors away from technological devices fuels the imagination. That is to say, it provides materials for childrens writing and creation. I really do love seeing a family sitting along a river bridge and enjoying some summertime fishing as well as exploring. But what I do not like is going back to the same area the next day and finding the place littered with trash. Pick up your trash. If you are teaching your children about outdoor activities, such as fishing, teach them to respect nature as well. When packing your supplies for the days outing, throw a small kitchen bag in with the rest of the items. Use the kitchen bag to throw your papers, cans, wrappers, containers and everything else that is not at the site upon arrival. Remember to take the kitchen bag with you. Dont misuse your responsibility and model. I am the first one to admit that I am not perfect when it es to the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” program. From my desk right now, I can see a pile of old magazines that need to be taken to the recycling centre. But I would never leave trash along a roadside or other public areas. I would like to see future generations enjoy the outdoors without all the pollutants left behind today. For now, I would just like to take my wildlife photos without litter in the background. Pick up your trash.25. What is implied in Evo Moraless words in Paragraph 1? A. Human beings should change their attitude towards the Earth.B. Human beings will live forever on the Earth safe and sound.C. Human beings have realized the importance of caring about the Earth.D. Human beings only know they have rights to ask for more from the Earth. 26. Why does the author think he is not perfect when referring to the Three Rs program? A. He isnt accustomed to using their kitchen bagB. He would never pick up trash at the roadside.C. He always throws the old magazines to the dustbin.D. He doesnt take his old magazines to a recycling centre. 27. What is the purpose of this passage? A. To give parents some guidance on how to educate their children.B. To teach a lesson to those parents who dont care about the Earth.C. To ask parents to guide their kids to respect nature in outdoor activities D. To show his attitude towards parents behavior in outdoor activities. CHow to protect children Web fans from unsuitable material on-line while encouraging them to use the Internet has long been discussed in the U.S.For some parents, the Internet can seem like a jungle, filled with danger for their children. But jungles contain wonders as well as dangers and with good guides, some education, and a few precautions(预防措施), the wilds of the Internet can be safely navigated(航行). “Kids have to be on-line. If we tell our kids they cant have access(机会) to the Internet, were cutting them off from their future,” said an expert. Most kids have started to use search engines. Many of them are great for finding tons of interesting Internet sites, and they can also locate places where you might not want your kids to go. There are search engines designed just for kids. A certain software contains only sites that have been selected as safe. The most popular way to limit access would be to use what is known as a “content screener(过滤器)”. But this cant be wholly reliable, and the best thing parents can do is to talk to their kids and let them know what is OK or not OK to see or do on the Internet. Another way is that mum or dad is nearby when the child is surfing(浏览) the Internet.A few other tipsDont put the PC in a childs room but keep it in an area where mum or dad can keep an eye on things. That also makes the Internet more of a family activity.Ask your child what he or she has been doing and about any friends they make on-line.Tell your child not to give on-line strangers personal information, especially like address and phone number. And tell your children never to talk to anyone they meet on-line over the phone, send them anything, accept anything from them or agree to meet with them unless you go along.28. The passage is mainly about the subject of _.A. American children going on-lineB. Internet in AmericaC. appreciating InternetD. opposing childrens on-line29. The best way to protect children from improper material is _.A. to install(安装) a content screener on the puterB. to buy some search engines for the childrenC. to be nearby when they are surfing the InternetD. to talk to the children and persuade them to tell right from wrong30. Which of the following is right according to the passage?A. Surfing the Internet is the best method of educating children.B. Childrens not having access to Internet may have effect on their progress.C. Using a content screener is most reliable for keeping children having access to Internet.D. Searching engines can help children to select materials fit for them.31. According to the passage, we can infer that _.A. soft wares fit for children want programmingB. a child who is on-line is in dangerC. Internet is a jungle full of dangerD. Internet contains a lot of harmful sites D “Have a nice day!” may be a pleasant gesture or a meaningless expression. When my friend Maxie says “Have a nice day” with a smile, I know she sincerely cares about what happens to me. I feel loved and secure since another person cares about me and wishes me well. “Have a nice day. Next!” This version of the expression is spoken by a salesgirl at the supermarket who is rushing me and my groceries out the door. The words e out in the same tone with a fixed procedure. They are spoken at me, not to me. Obviously, the concern for my day and everyone elses is the managements attempt to increase business. The expression is one of those behaviors that help people get along with each other. Some- times it indicates the end of a meeting. As soon as you hear it, you know the meeting is at an end. Sometimes the expression saves us when we dont know what to say. “Oh, you just had a tooth out? Im terribly sorry, but have a nice day.” The expression can be pleasant. If a stranger says “Have a nice day” to you, you may find it heart-warming, because someone you dont know has tried to be nice to you. Although the use of the expression is an insincere, meaningless social custom at times, there is nothing wrong with the sentence except that it is a little uninteresting. The salesgirl, the waitress, the teacher, and all the countless others who speak it without thinking may not really care about my day. But in a strange and fortable way, its nice to know they care enough to pretend they care when they really dont care all that much. While the expression may not often be sincere, it is always spoken. The point is that people say it all the time when they like.32. How does the author understand Maxies words?A. Maxie shows her anxiety to the author. B. Maxie really wishes the author a good day.C. Maxie encourages the author to stay happy. D. Maxie really worries about the authors security.33. What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 2 mean? A. The salesgirl is rude. B. The salesgirl is bored.C. The salesgirl cares about me. D. The salesgirl says the words as a rule. 34. According to the last paragraph, People says “Have a nice day” _. A. sincerely B. as thanks C. as a habit D. encouragingly35. What is the best title of the passage? A. Have a Nice Daya Social Custom B. Have a Nice Daya Pleasant GreetingC. Have a Nice Daya Heart-warming GreetingD. Have a Nice Daya Polite Ending of a Conversation第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Getting your children to study can be a little like getting them to eat their vegetables. _36 Make a study time and have it at the same time every day.
