These are the first steps in learning. Now, at the end of the term, gather all the notes you took and run through them quickly. While doing this, keep asking yourself, “Do I understand what I am reading?” If yes, great. If not, you have to spend some time understanding them before the exams take place. My second tip is to plan different types of revision in order to study more efficiently. Even if you are interested, everyone gets bored after a couple of hours of studying. Something that really helps is to plan different types of activities while revising. You can switch between study and exercise so you wont get bored and its easier to study for a longer period of time. One thing that can really help you to memorize your study materials more easily is to make the facts more related. There are many different ways to do so. Im going to give you two examples and the first one is to create pictures in your mind while studying. This can be really helpful for studying history, for example. The second method, especially for learning new words: Try to make yourself familiar with new words by looking for the ones that look alike.24. According to Paragraph 1, what prepares you for revision?A. Going to lectures.B. Taking notes.C. Understanding notes.D. Gathering notes.25. While revising, what are you advised to do after reading notes for hours?A. Go on reading.B. Go to sleep.C. Listen to music.D. Do some exercise.26. Connecting the events in history can help .A. understand them correctlyB. make revising more interestingC. stop us from getting boredD. remember them more easily27. Who is the text written for?A. Headmasters.B. Teachers.C. Students.D. Workers.COn this program we explore mon expressions in American English. Today, we talk about expressions that began behind the wheels of automobiles. Now they are mon expressions that we use in everyday conversations.Well, lets not delay any longer. Lets get this show on the road!“To get the show on the road” means to begin something as soon as possible. Its a casual expression that we use when we want to start something, anything an activity or project or an actual road trip.Well, not any activity. You would not likely use this expression to begin something sad, such as a funeral. It is a lighthearted expression. So, the person who says “hey, lets get this show on the road!” is taking charge. They want to start things. They want to get things going. You could say they are in the drivers seat. Just as the driver is in control of their vehicle, the person in the drivers seat of an activity, event or project is also in control. Feel free to use this phrase in any situation, formal or informal.Speaking of free, most rides are not. They cost money. When you take a taxi you must pay for it. If you drive a car, you must pay for gas, repairs and insurance. It is great when you get a free ride to where you are going. However, in life, to get a free ride means to gain from something without having to do anything in exchange. It can be annoying to have a friend or co-worker who is always trying to get a free ride. They do not give. They just take, take, take! Now, when we are actually driving, the phrase go down that road simply means to drive down a road. We would say this when we give directions. “Go down that road for about a mile and youll see your destination on the right.”But in conversations, it has an interesting meaning. To go down that road means to make a decision. But its more than that. It also means that this decision may bring trouble or leave you in a difficult place. We often use this phrase as awarning.28. The underlined word “lighthearted” in Paragraph 4 has the closest meaning to .A. relaxingB. warm-heartedC. brightD. formal29. What can we learn from the passage?A. “To get this show on the road” can be used to start anything. B. Someone who likes getting a free ride is always wele.C. We can use “go down that road” as an encouragement. D. The person “in the drivers seat” is the one in charge.30. What do the four expressions have in mon?A. They can all be used at any situation.B. They are all used to talk about someone else. C. They all have something to do with transport.D. They are not used when were actually travelling.31. Where probably is the text from?A. A guide book.B. A TV program. C. A newspaper.D. A travel journal.DWe humans spend about one-third of our lives asleep. This may sound like a lot of time, but it is not wasted. Sleep not only helps us stay healthy, but it also helps our brains remember. Our brains need good sleep to remember what we do and learn during the other two thirds of our lives when we are awake.Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have found that sleep helps improve brain performance by shrinking (收缩) synapses in the brain. Asynapse is the area where cells pass messages to other cells.Scientist Chiara Cirelli is a leading investigator at the schools Center for Sleep and Consciousness. She told the reporter that sleep is when the human brain mixes information it has learned while awake into its general collection of knowledge. Meanwhile, the brain forgets unimportant details. This forgetting is important. It makes space for new learning and new memories.Cirelli said that the Centers research began with this hypothesis (假设): Wesleep so that our brain can repair and refresh itself. She said the idea seems simple and reasonable. However, testing and discovering how it works has been extremely difficult.Synapses are only about 20-40 nanometers wide. The team began their study by measuring the size of the synapses to look for changes in these already tiny spaces between nerve cells. Cirelli said the process is difficult because “all theactual measurements of the synapses have to be done by hand.” The team had to wait until improvements in laboratory technology made it possible to see these tiny changes. A University of Wisconsin press release called the research a huge job. Many research specialists worked for four years to photograph, rebuild and study certain areas of a mouse brain.Cirelli said they found that our synapses shrink as our brains clean themselves during sleep. We wake up refreshed and ready to fill those synapses with new information.32. How does brain help improve our memory while sleeping?A. By adding new knowledge to its old collection. B. By not forgetting any learnt knowledge.C. By repeating information learnt before. D. By keeping learning new information.33. What is the 5th paragraph mainly about?A. The size of the synapses.B. The time of the measuring work.C. The results of the measuring work.D. The difficulties in the measuring work.34. What can we infer about the research work?A. The findings proved their hypothesis to be right.B. The team began their research as soon as they decided to. C. The synapses were found bigger after a good nights sleep. D. The researchers carried out their work with a mouse brain.35. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?A. Sleep helps the brain shrink. B. Sleep helps us keep healthy. C. Sleep helps us learn better.D. Sleep helps clean our bodies.第三部分:完形填空(共 20 小题;每小题 1 分,满分 20 分) 阅读下面短文,掌握其大意,然后从各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C 和 D)中 选出最佳选项。Learn the power of wordsOne day, one of my children told me, “I hate you.” I have to 36 that I often say things that are unpopular.
