To practise using vocabulary of buildings.Teaching procedures:Step 1: Revision Get the students to tell me the factors which describe a painting.(Answers: style, colour, lines, shapes)T: The topic of Unit 6 is Design. We have enjoyed several famous paintings in China as well as in western countries. Im sure most of you have master the ways how to describe a painting.T: Today lets enjoy some famous great buildings.Step 2: PresentationT: What famous buildings do you know? ( the Summer Palace, the Palace Museum, Suzhou Garden, Oriental Pearl Tv Tower, Huanghe Tower, Forbidden City, Yuan Mingyuan Palace, ) Give the students two minutes to talk about some buildings in and near Shunde. ( Qinghui Garden, Baomo Garden, Baolin Temple, Shunfeng Mountain Park.)T: Different countries have different buildings. Buildings are connected with different culture. They also have their own features. Now lets enjoy some other great buildings in the world which are quite different from those in China.Step 3: Pre-listeningT: Go through the pictures and names . Then predict the right matches.(Ex 1 at P38)First, analyse the names : Palace Bank, Castle, BuildingThen watch the photos and find out their special parts: roof, location, height, colour.T: Go through the key words. And tell me which of the buildings do you like best? Why?Step 4: Listen to LearnTask 1:1.Listen and do the following exercises.Section 1: (Look at PPT)Section 2: (Look at PPT)Section 3: (Look at PPT)Section 4: (Look at PPT)2.The students look at the table and the entries made for the first building. Then play the cassette two of three times for them to plete the table. Get the students answers in a group before in class.Task 2:Listen to someone describing her favorite building. Which of the buildings in the photos does she choose?
