2019-2020年高中英语Unit1Period5TaskReportingschoolactivities教案The General Idea of This Period:This period will deal with skills building 1: reading a program and skills building 2: paring information.Teaching Aim :To help the students learn the skills of reading a program and paring information.Teaching Important Point:Skills of reading a program and paring information.Teaching Difficult Point:How to master the skills of reading a program and how to pick out the useful information by paring it.Teaching Methods Presentation to show what is included in a program.Listening to improve their listening ability.parison to find out the useful information.Teaching Aids: A multimedia. A tape recorder.Teaching Procedures :Step 1 Greetings1. Greet the whole class as usual. 2. Check their homework if any.Step 2 Presentation T: These days we are very busy. Tom, do you know what is happening? S1 :Teachers Day is ing. T: Got it. What is the date of Teachers Day? S2: Sept. 10th. T: What day is this Teachers Day? Ss: Saturday. T: Do you have any special activities? S3 : Were going to have a ceremony to celebrate it. T: Really? Where and when? S4 : We are going to have a party from 3 p. m. at the lecture hall. T: Good! I will go there then. Thanks for telling me about your program. A program is a plan of activities to be done. or things to be achieved. Do you know what a program includes? Ss: date, day, time, venue, event/activity T: Very good! Dates in a program are usually presented in short form to save space. For example: 1st January -1st/1 Jan 9th September9th / 9 Sept. Days refer to days in a week. They can also be presented in short form. Do you know their short forms? S6: Yes. Sunday-Sun Thursday-Thur T: Quite good! Time can be presented in several ways. Lets look at the screen: 9 a. m./09.00 4 p. m./16.00 8.50 a. m./08.50 6.45 p.m. 18.45 Events or activities are the most important part of a program. For example: a speech on Chinese history art festival sports meeting opening ceremony At last lets have a look at venue. Venue refers to the place where events or activities take place, for example: Assembly hall meeting room 7th floor, Park Hotel Step 3 Game Here if you like, the teacher may play a game. First divide the class into four groups, and ask the first group to write a date/day as they like, the second group time, the third group event activity the fourth group venue. After few seconds, ask four of them (one from each group)to stand up and read aloud their words to form a sentence. This is just for fun as well as practice of a program. Step 4 Program pletion T. As part of the ceremony of Teachers Day, a famous scientist will e to our city and visit some high schools. Listen to his talk and plete his program below: DatedayTimeVenueActivity/EventMonNo.1Middle SchoolGive a talk Play the tape for the students to follow, and after the first listening, ask some students to tell the class what information they have caught. Check the answers by listening to it once more. T: You are having a meeting with the headmaster. He is telling us about a program of talks for next month. You have a timetable but some of the items of your timetable are missing. Listen to your headmaster and plete the timetable below. Step 5 paring Information T: We often make decisions by paring information. There are two main points that you should note when making parisons: (1)When paring, you must read all the information carefully before you make any decisions. (2) It is better to make as many parisons as you can. The more choices you have, the better your final decisions will be. T: pare your class timetable with the program above. To go to the talks, you can choose not to have library class, class meeting, games and self-study. Write down the topics of the speeches you can attend. (Give the students several minutes to carry out this task. This is a good chance for them to pare the information carefully and make some decisions. ) T: Now tell me what talks we can attend, please. Here I want you to work in pairs. Find a partner to be your class teacher and answer his or her questions. Take turns.Class teacher: Ask your monitor the following questions:1. Miss Yang has found some information, but pity she doesnt know much about English, so would you please pare the information with details in her friends e-mail?Read all the information and circle the correct ISBN for Miss Yang(Teacher shows the table on the screen and reads aloud the e-mail for the students to circle the correct ISBN. This is a chance to practice their listening, too. )Step 6 Summary T: Today weve learned two skills: reading a program and paring information. They are so practical so dont forget them in your studies. Your homework today is to prepare an English edition of our school program of Teachers Day. Good ones will be presented to our head master and used at the ceremony. Step 7 Homework Write a notice ( read the guidelines in Step3 on page 17)
