Lead-in (Brainstorming) Show some pictures to the students and let them discuss the following question: Which do you think is the most beautiful? Why? Elicit the idiomatic expression: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Step II. Reading1. Fast-reading(1) Why do we say beauty is in the eye of the beholder?(2) How many kinds of beauty are there?(3) How many factors influence peoples perceptions of beauty? What are they?2. Intensive-reading (physical beautiful)Read paragraph 2- 3 to decide whether the following sentences are true or false:(1) In 19th century Europe, women would wear woollen shawls across their shoulders.(2) Nowadays, tattoos are used to mark criminals.(3) In some countries, young women follow slimming diets to lose extra kilos to prepare for their wedding day.(4) The human race would die out if we perceived physical beauty in the same way.3. Homework教学反思:这一节是阅读课,话题是:“What is beauty?”,目的除了在于要训练学生的阅读技巧以外,还在于让学生了解两种美:外在美和内在美。而外在美则受社会,时间和文化的影响,产生不同的变化,进而要让学生意识到内在美的重要性和善于发现生活中存在的真美。这节课主要采取任务型教学法,用多媒体辅助教学,让学生进行双人或小组活动,使学生参与到课堂教学当中。这节课首先用四幅风景的图片让学生发表自己的看法:在他们自己的眼中,哪一幅是最漂亮的。由此引出“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”这一句谚语。然后让学生进行快速阅读,找出为什么我们会说情人眼里出西施以及有哪几种美这两个问题的答案。由于文章明显地按照外在美和内在美两个部分进行阐述,所以在快速阅读以后,教师有意识地引导学生进行篇章结构的划分。接着再次要求学生快速阅读外在美部分,找出影响人们理解美的因素。下一个阶段是精读,教师给出一些句子让学生判断正误并将错误的部分进行改错。在检查学生完成的情况之前,先让学生互相检测,发挥学生的自评互评作用。阅读的最后一部分是关于内在美的部分,主要是以问题的形式检查学生的理解程度。阅读阶段完成以后,进行了一个总结,主要以框架的形式呈现。让学生再次回忆课文的内容以及新单词。第三个步骤是“Voice your opinion”。让学生小组讨论当前很多女孩进行整容手术的现象。主要围绕两个问题:“What do you think of artificial beauty?”,“Is it necessary to bee more beautiful by operation, why?”最后一个步骤是引导学生发现生活中存在的真美。首先让学生讨论发表自己的看法,然后用幻灯片配乐展示了生活中一些美的现象。例如,花开,幼苗,帮助他人,天伦之乐等等。目的在于唤起学生心灵的共鸣。总的来说,这节课的整个流程都很顺畅,环节紧扣,层层递进。在阅读部分时,穿插了新词汇的学习,帮助学生扫清了在阅读过程中的障碍。设计的问题,由浅入深,利于学生把握。帮助学生从整体和细节上把握了文章。在讨论环节,话题贴近生活实际,学生也感兴趣,在某种程度上减少了学生的焦虑感,激起了学生口头表达的欲望,所以课堂气氛比较活跃,平时不太愿意开口的学生都参与到了小组讨论当中,达到了口头输出的目的。而形成积极、和谐的气氛的一个重要因素是,教师对学生的赞赏和鼓励,在学生分享和表达的过程当中,教师适时地对学生作出适当的评价尤其重要。例如在一位学生在发表自己的观点时,用了first, second, whats worse等等比较好的连接词或句,我适时地赞扬了她并鼓励其他的学生也运用所学的表达方式。可以观察到这位学生露出了欢心的微笑,而其后的学生也尽量使自己的表达更加完美。最后一个部分“True beauty in real life”让学生陷入了进一步的思考,使学生产生了共鸣,情感的教育得到了深化。做到了将情感教育融入到课堂教学当中。而需要改进的就是最后一个环节应给学生更多的时间进行思考,在时间的把握上需更准确些。还应多注重不同层次学生的反应,让更多的学生参与课堂活动。在这次教学的整个过程当中,令我感受最深的一个是,科组的集体力量非常重要。科组的老师给我的意见给了我很大的启发,使我在教学方式和教学方法上改进了很多。
