Things were different when I was young. I was about to leave when the telephone rang.2) while 引导的时间状语从句，表示“与同时，在期间”， while引导的从句中谓语常用延续性动词或表示状态的词。 They rushed in while we were discussing the problems. Father was cleaning the car while I was playing computer games.3) as 引导的时间状语从句，作“当的时候， 一边一边, 随着”, as引导的从句中谓语可使用延续性动词，也可以使用非延续动词。 He sang as he was working. As time goes by, we have a better understanding of things around us.注意:1) 时间状语从句的省略 当时间状语从句的主语与主句的主语一致或者是it , 谓语部分又含有be 动词时， 可以省略从句的主语和be动词。 Ice melts when heated.2) 时间状语从句中， 用一般现在时表示一般将来时，用现在完成时代替将来完成时。 By the time you arrive at the station , the train will have left. We should not get off until the bus has stopped.3) 常见的一些表示时间的副词或者短语也可以引导时间状语从句。常见的这类副词或短语有： as soon as ; immediately ; directly ; the moment ; the minute ; the first time ; each time ; next time. Immediately he arrived, he started telling us what had happened to him.？ Next time you go to the bookshop, please buy a dictionary.？2. the past perfect tense 过去完成时1） 概念：过去完成时由助动词had 加过去分词构成，主要表示在过去某时之前已发生的动作或情况，也可以说是“过去时间的过去”。其被动形式为 “had +been +过去分词”。Up until then we had covered nearly half the distance.By the end of last term，more than 3,000 English words had been learnt by us at our middle school.2) 过去完成时也可用于 hardly when ; no sooner than等一些固定句型中。Hardly / no sooner 用于句首用倒装句 He had hardly arrived when it began to rain变成倒装句_He had no sooner gone to sleep than the doorbell rang._-3) 在表示某人过去未曾完成的“心愿、打算、计划、想法、许诺”时，hope , mean, plan, want, promise, intend等谓语动词必须用过去完成时。I had planned to offer you some help in your shop, but suddenly my mother fell ill yesterday.He had hoped to spend the important day with us last Sunday, but he was too busy then.4) 在It was the first time that 句型结构中， that 从句中的谓语动词用过去完成时。 It was the first time that he had ever spoken to a foreigner.注意： 过去完成时和一般过去时的区别：过去完成时是一个相对的时态，表示的是“过去的过去”，只有在和过去的某时或某一动作相比较时才用。一般过去时表示的时间是过去发生的，与现在无关系。（1）如果句子中出现了表示过去的具体时间状语，句子的内容为过去的实际情况或句子的内容为历史事实时，句子中的动词时态只能是一般过去时。 The teacher said that it was Columbus that first discovered the American continent. My parents told me that I was born on May 6 ,1986. (2) 如果两个动作紧接着发生时，则常常不用过去完成时，而用一般过去时，特别是在包含before 和after 的复合句中。 After we said good-bye to the farmers, we left the mountain village.
