F,Skills building 3: writing a dialogue,When writing a dialogue, you should pay attention to the following: Dont include words like Umm or Hmm in a dialogue. Dont repeat words that have just been said. For example, when one says, Go and sit down. The other should use Why? instead of Go and sit down. or Why should I sit down? Use the words the characters say to show their personalities and moods. Dont say He/ She is very angry.,Read the dialogue in Part A and in pairs discuss what is wrong with the underlined sentences.,1. Umm or hmm shouldnt be included in a written dialogue. 2. We shouldnt use My room is too dirty, My room is a mess, clean up and cleaning , because in a written dialogue what has just said shouldnt be repeated. 3. In a written dialogue we should write a sentence that shows the speaker is very angry instead of the sentence Im really very angry with you.,Answers,Read the dialogue again and circle the sentences that show Mum is unhappy or angry.,Answers: Come and look! Dont you talk to me like that! You should start cleaning now if you plan to leave!,The sentences that show Jacks mood:,This is so unfair! Ill never have enough time! (Jack is angry.) But I dont think you are being fair at all! (Jack is unhappy.),Step 3: presenting a dialogue in groups,Go over the information in this part, write a dialogue between Christina, her mother and the radio host and then to give a performance. You can do this in groups of three.,(Group Ones dialogue. C-Christina H-host M-Mum ) C:Thats true, you see I am sad that Mum missed me. I love Mum and Dad, but I felt they did boring things. I enjoy spending weekends doing sports. M: Many times I want to talk to her, but she was always too busy. H:Oh, I think thats a problem between you. C:Maybe. So I called “Talk Time” and got some advice. Then we decided to do some things together every week. M:Yes. Christina told me about that, and last week we cooked special dinner for family. Christina helped me and learned how to cook. She was really enjoyed it.,H:That is really a good thing. M:I was so happy that I took Christina and her best friends to a restaurant for dinner.
