A(2016河北鸡泽第一中学高三检测)How to train your dragon by British author Cressida Cowell is one of the best pieces of childrens literature. A child can make a whole alternative universe with a vivid imagination and Toothless, the heros hunting dragon, thus turning a rainy day into an adventure of lifetime. However, if you have never read the book but instead choose to see the film version, you might think you were seeing a newage war movie meant for adults rather than children.Lets look at Where the Wild Things Are for further discussion. The story centers around a lovely eightyearold boy named Max, who sails away to an island. Creatures living there declare Max their king. What an amazing piece of childrens literature! A treasure for every childs library. Yet, children were crying in the movie theatre. Owls were falling from the sky, chickens arms were being torn off, and a child was running around a dark abandoned world fighting evil as the only human. It was almost as if Hollywood could not imagine children enjoying a movie for its basic literature content. Hollywood might be right. But more and more its audiences are complaining that there is an increased amount of violence in childrens stories today than in the past. While there appears to be a trend in our society to make more violence more accessible to younger children, books and literature are generally an exception. I truly believe that childrens literature has become more vivid and colorful. This is a great treasure for the children, and is certainly not violent. What has changed the childrens stories of today is not the writers, but the film industry. In some way, childrens literature is just being strangely twisted. I wonder how much influence the author has over this.【文章大意】本文讲的是好的儿童文学作品是孩子的文化宝库,丰富了孩子们的想象力和创造力。然而一些好莱坞的电影改编作品掺杂了太多的暴力元素,对孩子的成长产生了不好的影响。1It can be inferred that the film Where the Wild Things Are is AmovingBfrighteningCinteresting DamazingB解析:推理判断题。由第二段中.children were crying.Owls were falling from the sky, chickens arms were being torn off,and a child was running around a dark abandoned world fighting evil.“孩子们哭了猫头鹰从天上掉下来,鸡的翅膀被撕掉,而一个孩子在被抛弃的黑暗世界里对抗邪恶。”可知,这部电影是很可怕的。2According to the text, the author thinks that Athe film industrys treatment of childrens literature is wrongBwriters should provide more colorful works for childrenCthere is an increase in violence in childrens literatureDchildren should read books rather than see filmsA解析:细节理解题。根据最后一段中What has changed the childrens stories of today is not the writers, but the film industry.“改变如今孩子们故事的不是作者,而是电影行业。”可知A项正确。3How does the text mainly develop?ABy inferring.BBy giving explanations.CBy providing examples.DBy making comparisons.C解析:推理判断题。根据文章内容可知文章以两部儿童文学作品文字版和电影版为例引出文章主旨。故C项正确。B(2016吉林实验中学高三模拟)Miscioscio, 60, a marketing consultant in Pearl River, NY., says shes addicted to her Sony ereader. She buys or borrows a print book only when its not available digitally. Miscioscio says most of her friends and relatives have also switched to ebooks for the convenience and lower prices. Last winter, she notes, she vacationed in Costa Rica and says“At least, 75% of those reading were reading electronically. I was shocked to see people taking their ereaders onto the loungers in the pool.”Meier, 43, a marketing director in Beaver Falls, prefers her books on paper, not screens. After working on a computer all day, she says,“I want a book in my hand. Turning over its pages is my way of knowing its time to relax and slow down.”Meier, whos sticking with physical books, doesnt consider herself any kind of digital“resister”“Im comfortable with all forms of technology,”she says.“However, when it comes to books, I suppose Im a traditionalist. My preference will always be the real thing.” To her, part of the joy of reading is the book itself:“pulling it from the shelf, inspecting the cover, letting it fall open to a random page.”Both have lots of company. Statistics show that ebook sales grew 43% last year, but thats a slowdown compared with the tripledigit increases in recent years. Ebooks remain the fastestgrowing part of the book market but account for only about 20% of all sales, reported by publishers.Miscioscio and Meier are at opposite ends of a book business in transition. Even though ebook sales have grown more than 4,000% since 2008, its unlikely that physical books will disappear the way records did in the music industry.【文章大意】本文主要讲述了ebook近年来越来越受人们欢迎,但仍有许多人喜欢paper book,作者认为将来会两种书并存,以满足不同人们的需要。4Miscioscio will when a book is not available digitally.Agive up reading such kind of booksBswitch to the book of lower priceCbuy the book on paperDtake an ereader onto the loungersC解析:细节理解题。根据第一段的She buys or borrows a print book only when its not available digitally.可知,只有在没有电子书的时候,她才会去买或借一本纸质书,故选C。5According to Meier, her “preference” refers to Apaper book Bpart of joy Ca random page Dan ebookA解析:细节理解题。根据第二段的“However, when it comes to books,I suppose Im a traditionalist.和To her, part of the joy of reading is the book itself:“pulling it from the shelf, inspecting the cover, letting it fall open to a random page.”可知,应是paper book,故选A。6What can we learn from the last paragraph?ARecords are unlikely to disappear in the music industry.BMiscioscio and Meier are two opponents in book business.CThe market share of ebooks is bigger than that of paper books.DPhysical books will remain to be accepted to some people.D解析:推理判断题。根据文章最后一段的最后一句话中的its unlikely that physical books will disappear the way records did in the music industry可知,纸质书不会像音乐行业的唱片那样消失,故选D。7What is the passage mainly concerned with?AEbooks will dominate the book industry eventually. B解析:推理判断题。本文通过两个例子(有的人喜欢纸质书,有的人喜欢电子书)说明了paper book和ebook都受人们的青睐,只是看人们的习惯不同而已。故选B。C(2016全国名校联盟高三上学期联考) The capsizing(倾覆)of Eastern Star, with 454 people on board, will not affect cruise ship(游轮) tourism in China in the long term, but may have an immediate fallout,an analyst says.On June 1,the ship sank in the Yangtze River in Central Chinas Hubei province, in the face of a fierce storm, killing all but 12 people aboard. According to Zhang Lingyun, the deputy dean of tourism college at Beijing Union University, the ship capsized owing“mainly to rare weather conditions”“But the public needs time to put the tragedy behind, so there might be a shortterm fallout from it.”Ctrip, a major Chinese online travel agency, has received some requests from customers seeking to cancel their bookings on cruise ships after the incident. More than 50 tourists canceled their planned cruises, says Huang He, general manager of Xiyanghong Travel Agency in Suzhou in eastern Chinas Jiangsu province. His company expects more people to withdraw from such trips in the coming days. The Nanjing branch of Shanghai Xiehe Travel Agency, which organized the river excursion (游览)of the capsized Eastern Star, canceled its next cruise, which was to start on June 15. The private company said another trip, set for June 17,might also be canceled. The cruise business in China is developing very fast as more Chinese take to this mode of luxury travel. Last year, more than 220 cruise ships set sail from Shanghai alone, with approximately 1.2 million passengers, according to the annual report on Chinas cruise industry, prepared by Shanghai Center for International Cruise Economic Research, an industry body. Most river cruise routes are between Hubei provinces Yichang to Chongqing on the Yangtze River, says Chen Caiyin, public affairs manager of Ctrips Beijing office.“We still have guests signing up for the cruise trip at the moment,”Chen says, adding that Ctrip has a procedure to refund money if their customers wish to cancel their cruise trip. Many travel agencies still offer tourism products on the Yangtze River. A fiveday cruise on the river costs around 2,000 yuan ($ 322) at presentthe usual price has not been changed after the tragedy, Chen says.【文章大意】本文介绍了“东方之星”沉船事故。8What can be the main idea of the news report?ACruise ship tourism in China is increasing rapidly.BLongterm cruise business unlikely upset by Eastern Star tragedy.CTourism products offered by travel agencies on the Yangtze River.DEastern Star sank in the Yangtze River in Central Chinas Hubei province.B解析:主旨大意题。本文在开头点出了主题:The capsizing(倾覆) of Eastern Star, with 454 people on board, will not affect cruise ship(游轮) tourism in China in the long term,下文进行了具体介绍。故选B项。9The ship overturned mainly due to Aunusual weather conditionsBits hitting something in the riverCits traveling at too fast a speedDthe overload of too many passengersA解析:推理判断题。根据第二段的the ship capsized owing “mainly to rare weather conditions”可知,这起事故主要是由罕见的天气情况导致的。故选A项。10Which of the following phrases can replace the underlined word “refund” in Para. 5?APut out.BTake on.CTurn over. Contrary to what many imagine, it has nothing to do with blindfolds. It involves tasting a wine without seeing the label and it can deliver shocking surprises. I tasted seven champagnes(香槟) blind with a group of professionals recently. There was a shock when they discovered the wine most of them preferred carried a label they regarded as their least favorite. That sort of result is especially common with champagne, the most imagedriven rather than qualitydriven wine of all. But it happens all the time when wine is tasted blind.Because Im interested in how wines really taste instead of how I think they should, I taste wine blind as often as I can, especially when assessing similar young wines. But blind tasting when you know absolutely nothing about the wine in front of you is something completely different. The most difficult Master of Wine exams include three sessions during which you have a dozen glasses in front of you and nothing more helpful than a printed exam paper asking you to identify (鉴定) each wine as closely as possible, and assess its quality. Now that the MW is behind me, I taste wine completely blind only very rarely, and never in public. So my blind tastings these days are round the dinner table with good friends and once a year when I act as a judge, with Hugh Johnson, in the Oxford v Cambridge winetasting competition. This is the most extraordinary match, always held before the Boat Race but taken just as seriously nowadays. This years tasteoff took place at the end of last month, as usual in the Oxford and Cambridge Club on Pall Mall in London.【文章大意】盲品(blind tasting)并不是大多数人想象中的蒙着眼睛品酒,而是通过纯品尝而非看酒标来对葡萄酒进行评价。12Which of the following is TRUE about Blind tasting?ABlind tasting is the professional way to identify a wine.BBlind tasting usually has the right result.CBlind tasting means tasting a wine with ones eyes covered.DBlind tasting is tasting a wine without seeing the label.D解析:细节理解题。根据第一段中的It involves tasting a wine without seeing the label可知,盲品就是不看酒的商标去品尝酒。故选D项。13Why did the professionals get shocked at the result of their blind tasting? AThey got all the results correctly.BThey didnt recognize their favorite at all.CThe writer made no mistakes.DChampagnes can not be tasted blind.B解析:细节理解题。根据第一段中的There was a shock when they discovered the wine most of them preferred carried a label they regarded as their least favorite.(当他们发现自己挑选出来的自己最喜欢的酒竟然贴着他们平时最不喜欢的酒的标签时,非常吃惊。)可分析出只有B选项最符合原文。14Which of the following interests the writer most? AAssessing young wines.BMaster of wine exams.CTasting wine blind in public.DOxford v Cambridge winetasting competition.A解析:细节理解题。根据第二段中的Because Im interested in how wines really taste instead of how I think they should,I taste wine blind as often as I can, especially when assessing similar young wines.可知答案。15What can we infer from the last paragraph?AThe Boat Race is taken more seriously than the wine race.BThe Oxford v Cambridge winetasting competition is held annually.CThe author didnt act as a judge last year.DPall Mall is chosen as the competition place for the first time.B解析:推理判断题。根据第三段所讲述的意思,尤其是关键信息and once a year when I act as a judge, with Hugh Johnson,in the Oxford v Cambridge winetasting competition.可知竞赛是每年一次,故答案为B选项。第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。(2016山东新泰第一中学高三质检)Does this situation seem familiar to you? Your English is progressing well, the grammar is now familiar, the reading comprehension is no problem, you are communicating quite fluently. 16 First of all, remember that you are not alone. Listening comprehension is probably the most difficult task for almost all learners of English as a foreign language. So, the most important thing is to listen as often as possible.17 The Internet is really a useful tool for English students. You can download The RealPlayer from Real Media.com, which allows you to use the Internet like a radio station.Once you have begun to listen on a regular basis, you might still be frustrated by limited understanding.18. Here is some of the advice I give my students:Accept the fact that you are not going to understand everything. Keep cool when you do not understandeven if you continue not to understand for a long time. 19 Dont concentrate on details until you have understood the main idea.20 This approach usually results in confusion. Translating leads to a kind of block in ones brain which sometimes doesnt allow us to understand anything at all! By remaining calm, allowing yourself not to understand, and not to translate while listening, your brain is free to concentrate on the most important thing: understanding English in English.ASecondly, most people repeat themselves constantly. BWhat should you do?CDo not translate everything into your native language.DThis situation leads to lessnot moreunderstanding.EThe next step is to find listening resources.
