高一英语必修一Unit2 1.more than(1)more than+数词,意为“超过,不止 ”,相当于over。(2)more than+名词,意为“不仅,不只”,相当于not only。(3)more than+形容词,意为“非常,极其”,相当于very。(4)more.than.意为“与其说不如说 ”,在此结构中,肯定的是more后面的内容,而否定的是than后面的内容。例如:More than 100 scientists attended the meeting. 有100多位科学家参加了这次会议。He is more than a writer;he is also a professor. 他不仅仅是位作家,还是一位教授。They were more than glad to help. 他们非常乐意帮忙。The fox is more sly than clever. 与其说狐狸聪明,不如说它狡诈。2.base vt.根据,基于 n基部;基础;基地base A on/upon B 把A 建立在B的基础上A be based on B A以B为基础be based in 驻扎,设立;以为基地base oneself on the interests of the people 从人民的利益出发 注意:在“baseon/upon”结构中,base是及物动词,base后要跟宾语,否则要用被动形式“be based on/upon”形式。例如:This book is based on a true story. 这本书讲的是一个真实的故事。They decided to base the new company in York. 他们决定将新成立的公司总部设在约克郡。What are you basing this theory on? 你这种理论的根据是什么? 3.because of 因为注意:because 是连词,引导原因状语从句;而because of介词,后跟名词、代词、动名词或名词性从句。1)同义句转换He is absent today because he is ill. 改为: he is absent today. 2)根据汉语意思完成句子:因为你说的话她没有参加这个聚会。She didnt come to the party . 4.come up走近;上来,上升;被提出;产生,开始作“提出”讲时,come up为不及物动词词组,无被动语态;如果要表达“提出来”,应用come up with。(1)come up with “提出”,其主语是“提出内容”的发出者。(2)come up “被提出”,其主语是被提出的内容。例如:(1)Many questions came up at the meeting,but none of them was important. (2)The boss came up with a new suggestion at the meeting.5.make use of利用拓展:make the most of充分利用 make the best of 充分利用(时间等) make good use of好好利用 make full use of 充分利用 make better/best use of 更好/最好地利用例如:1 As a student, you must make full use of your spare time作为学生,你必须充分利用课余时间。 2)We should make use of our time to learn. (同义句转换) Our time to learn. 6. play a part in在中起作用;在中担任角色拓展:play an important role/part in 在中起重要作用play the role of sb(play/act the part of sb) (在剧中)扮演角色(1) The UN Plays an important part in international relations. (2) Cant you see she is eager to play a part in the new film? 难道你看不出她渴望在这部新电影中扮演一个角色吗?7. at present意为:目前,眼下 We do not have any more information at present. 目前我们没有进一步的消息。 The situation for college students is very serious at present. 对于大学生来说形势是很严峻的。8. 3latter adj较后的,后面的, (两者中) 后者的I find it hard to understand the latter part of his lecture我发现他的讲座后面部分很难理解。Did he walk or swim across the river?
