本资料来源于大家网中考英语论坛Module 3 Now and then一周强化一、一周知识概述本模块的内容主要是围绕现在与过去的不同、生活发生的变化这一主题展开的。其中第一单元的对话讨论了现在的生活是否比50年前更好,其他活动也围绕这一话题展开;第二单元的阅读课文则是通过采访的形式介绍过去的生活情况,由于过去同现在的生活确实存在相当大的差距和不同,相信同学们会对课文内容很感兴趣。本模块要求大家在听、说、读、写方面做到:能听懂有关进行比较的对话;能够对事物进行比较;能读懂有关描述过去生活的文章;能够用比较级描述生活的变化。语言知识方面要求掌握:1能够正确使用下列单词和词组:debate, illness, prevent, medicine, suppose, couple, diet, disease; fall off, lead a life, get married2语法:复习形容词/副词的比较等级。二、重难点知识讲解1Nearly finished! 快做完了!这里finished是形容词,表示“完成了的,结束了的”。e.g.I hope Ill be finished before 5 pm. 我希望5点以前能干完。Are you finished with that work? 你干完那项工作了吗?The enemy is finished. 敌人完蛋了。2The most important difference is that people are healthier today.最重要的区别是人们现在更健康。that people are healthier today是表语从句,其中that不能省略,这一语法内容只要求大家明白就可以了,对话后面还有两个句子同样含有表语从句。e.g.The advantage is that we know more about medicine today.现在的优势是我们对医学懂得更多了。I suppose thats because public transport is much better today.我想那是因为现在的公共交通比原来发达多了。3Were better at preventing illness. 现在我们在疾病预防方面做得更好。prevent vt.(1)防止;预防(prevent sth. 预防/防止)e.g.prevent a disease 预防疾病It is the job of the police to prevent crime.防止犯罪是警察的职责。(2)(常与from连用)阻止;制止;妨碍(prevent sb. from doing 阻止某人做)e.g.We were prevented by heavy smog from seeing anything.浓雾使我们看不到任何东西。What prevented you from joining us last night?昨天晚上什么事使你不能参加我们的晚会?4I suppose thats because public transport is much better today.我想那是因为现在的公共交通比原来发达多了。“suppose that-从句”表示“猜测;认为”,若主句是主语是第一人称,而从句是否定形式,用法同guess, think, believe,应将否定前移至主句。e.g.I suppose (that) you are right.我想你是对的。I dont suppose my friend can finish this work.我猜想我的朋友不能完成这项工作。suppose常见的用法:(1)“suppose 名词代词介词短语”表示“猜测某人某物在”。e.g.I supposed him in the classroom.我猜想他在教室里。(2)“suppose 名词代词动词不定式”表示“猜想某人做某事”。e.g.I supposed her to be in the reading-room.我猜想她在阅览室。All his neighbours supposed him to be a doctor.他的邻居都猜他是医生。(3)suppose还可用于插入语中。e.g.You dont mind my smoking, I suppose.我想,您不会介意我吸烟吧。Who do you suppose telephoned today?你猜今天谁打过电话?(4)be supposed to do sth. 表示“应该/应当”,是指根据规定或按照法律,人们不得不做的事,或期待将要发生的事。e.g.Youre supposed to start work at 8 oclock every morning你理应每天早晨8点开始工作。You arent supposed to take the books out of the reading-room你不该把这些书拿出阅览室。(5)口语中,常用I suppose so.(我认为是这样。)和I dont suppose so.(我认为不是这样。)5What about work? People dont have to work as hard as they worked 50 years ago.那工作呢?人们不必像50年前那么费力地工作了。(1)“What about.?”是一句常用的客套话,它后面可接名词、代词或动词-ing形式。它的功能可不少呢!询问情况或打听消息。当对方谈的事情不明确,需要询问清楚时,也可用这一句型。e.g.Id like a cup of tea. What about you? 我想喝杯茶,你呢?I want to talk to you. 我要和你谈话。What about? 谈什么?向对方提出建议或请求,相当于句型Would you like.? 语气很委婉。e.g.What about having some bread?Would you like some bread? 吃些面包好吗?What about playing football now? =Would you like to play football now? 现在踢足球怎么样?寒暄时用作承接上下文的转折语。e.g.Im a student. What about you? 我是学生,你呢?Our English teacher is good. What about yours?我们的英语老师很好,你们的(英语老师)怎么样?询问天气或身体等状况。e.g.What about the weather in your city? 你们城市的天气情况如何?What about your mother? You cant keep her too tired. 你母亲身体好吗?你不能让她太累。征求对方的看法或意见。e.g.What about this bike?这辆自行车怎么样?What about his playing football?他的足球踢得怎么样?(2)asas意为“和一样”,中间接形容词或副词的原级。其否定结构是not as/soas意为“不和一样,不如”。e.g.John is as bright as Bob.约翰和鲍博一样聪明。He doesnt study as/so hard as his brother. 他学习不如他弟弟努力。6Talking of free time, dont forget Im going on the school trip next month, and the theatre visit.说到业余时间,别忘了下个月我要参加学校组织的出游,还要看演出。talking/speaking of表示“谈到,说到”。e.g.Talking of John, I saw a friend of his last week.提起约翰,上星期我看见他的一个朋友。Speaking of universities, Roy will go to America to study this summer.谈到大学,今年夏天罗伊要去美国学习。7Today its normal for married women to go out to work, but it was less common in the past.现在已婚妇女出去工作是很正常的事,但在过去并不常见。“Its + 形容词+ for sb. to do sth.”是一个很常用的句型,意思是“对某人来说做某事”。该结构中的形容词通常强调不定式的行为属性,如:important, possible, impossible, necessary, difficult, hard, reasonable等。e.g.Its normal for you to feel nervous before an exam.对你来说考试前紧张是正常的。It wasnt easy for me to work out the maths problem.对我来说解出这道题不容易。Its important for him to know the truth.对他来说知道真相很重要。Its difficult for us to finish the work within two hours.我们要在两小时之内完成工作是很难的。辨析:“Its + 形容词+ of sb to do sth”是一个很常用的句型,意思是“对某人来说做某事”。该结构中的形容词多为表示人物性格和特征,如:kind, silly, good, unwise, clever, wrong, foolish, stupid, careless, rude, impolite, bold, thoughtful, honest, sensible, naughty等。e.g.Its kind of you to think so much of us.难为你这么为我们着想。Its silly of the boy to keep pouring water into the basket.这个男孩真傻,一直往篮子里倒水。8My mother was always cooking for us. 我妈妈经常给我们做饭。频度副词always,constantly,continually和forever等和进行时连用时,给现在或过去的动作披上一层感情色彩,并不强调动作在进行。(1)表示讨厌、不满,带有埋怨情绪,指责某人一贯的行径。e.g.He is forever boasting. 他老爱说大话。(2)表示赞许、高兴。带夸奖口吻,称赞对方的一贯表现。e.g.You are always doing well. 你总是干得很不错。9 so we got married a year later. 所以一年后我们就结婚了。get married意思是“结婚”,是不能延续的动词。e.g.We had known each other for years before we got married.结婚前我们相互了解了多年。They have had a happy life since they got married.自结婚以来他们过着幸福的生活。10These days most couples meet at work 现在很多夫妻都是在工作中结识的these days相当于now,意为“现在”。e.g.I dont do much exercise these days. 我现在不锻炼。Shes doing just fine these days. 她现在很好。更多精品尽在大家网http:/www.TopS
